I'll admit to following Markiplier's channel. I mostly got into it for the Subnautica, Happy Wheels, and FNAF videos, but it's grown on me. He's relatively benign as a person too. It's not great, but like, sometimes you just want a lovely greasy-rear end burger, so you get a burger for lunch.

Plus he's a really nice person who is grateful for his fanbase and respects them and also isn't a fuckin neo-nazi. He's a bit too screamy, I agree. I've learned to tolerate it. He seems like a nice person too, though a little unsure of what he's doing at times.

He did a CYOA video series that goes in some....interesting directions: Yeah, he seems to be branching out into film and acting in general, which is an interesting (though difficult) direction. I still prefer his games work, though.

I've been mainlining a bunch of Vinesauce streams, mostly Vinny's. His SMRPG stream right now is pretty great, if anyone wants a nostalgia trip.

bman in 2288 posted:Neat, how long is it? I've always wanted to take a look at the game, but never got around to looking in the archive for it. I know that Vinny's up my alley, though, so I'm more comfortable watching his stuff. Looks like it's gonna be 9 streams long, each about 2~3 hours. His streams are pretty chill, but unfortunately I've more or less finished up the backlog for him...wish there were more corruption streams to watch.

I got it in my head to try and make some NES corruptions for the Vinesauce Corruption Stockpile, but after making a few of them and looking at how long corruptions have been going, I think it's actually kinda pointless to do it. Vinny clearly doesn't find them as fun or as funny as they used to be even as far back as 2012, and to be quite honest I've gotten sick of them pretty quickly myself. vv Oh well.

Anyway, I find notifications and donation clips 'n poo poo to be annoying if done badly - they really need to be subtle to come across well. That said, most people I've watched streams of (e.g. slowbeef) have their notifications set up well! Pollyanna fucked around with this message at 20:50 on Sep 26, 2017 |

Apparently there will be no Wolfenstein 2 playthrough on Vinesauce because he didn't want to piss off his chat by playing it. I wonder why.

Angry_Ed posted:You say "apparently", which implies a source. Also Vinny isn't really one to ever listen to his chat anyway so I'm curious Source: some Nazi's Youtube comment. I agree with you, now that my initial annoyance has worn off - he'll play it if he wants to. Also, I doubt he's in the mood to agree with his chat after dealing with Cry of Fear.

Max Wilco posted:What happened with Cry of Fear? AFAICT it was heavily recommended by chat not because it was good or anything but because it was a staple of horror game streamers, and he was hyped up for something cool and fun to play but instead really disliked it. To be fair, the other half of chat that didn't recommend it loving hated it and wished it would end quickly. Honestly, I believe in collaborative natures and communicating with your audience, but there has to be a line drawn somewhere.

Yardbomb posted:Cry of Fear was really good at one time but that time has pretty well passed it by. It's still neat for being an ambitious project done in source, but it's no longer some amazing thing. Even then, though. Not even ~2012 can excuse limited inventory, poor level design, and a hackneyed story.

The death knell of Twitch is when it goes from majority gaming streams to majority general fuckery (literal and figurative) streams. Relying on Twitch long-term as a source of income and as a platform to promote yourself and build yourself up on sounds real fuckin stupid given the way it's going.

Is the Twitch VOD player extreme garbage for anyone else? Every time I load it up it sucks up all my CPU and moving around in the video is nigh impossible.

Why is the Twitch VOD player such loving garbage? Every time I try to watch a video on it, it takes up all my CPU and memory. It's gotten slowly worse over the past few months and I'm wondering why.
