The first year Cassie Campbell-Pascale started doing NHL games for CBC she was a colour announcer for a bit. I miss it dearly and wish they'd give her another shot but I can't say I'm surprised she's been relegated to sideline reporting.

I can't imagine the trouble of breaking into the boys club as much as she has.

Watching the vancouver stream with the 17 year old trying to do play by play, and the kings game with some guy who didn't know anybody's names dryly describing the game like he's ordering a pizza was terrible.

We're drat lucky in edmonton, even drew remenda is knowledgeable and fun sometimes.

Oilers-sharks will be fun because neither are really considered contenders, and the puck landing on Mcdavid's stick at his own blue line and him being completely alone by the next one will put a smile on anybody's face. You'll also get to see eberle and RNH in their first playoffs. And Taylor Hall will also probably be watching.

Leafs-Caps will be fun, it's like an unstoppable force and immovable object, and they're playing against a team of rookies just there to have fun.

Tkachuk-Kessler might be fun, but you have to sit through flames-ducks games to see it.

e: Just 6 I guess if you count the 1927 Sens

Well there are 30 teams, so if each team won the cup once, the first of 30 to do so would be on a 29 year "drought" by the time the last team won one. Mathematically, there needs to be droughts.

A CBJ/wild final would be a first for both teams. The 3 teams that have never made the finals have only been around for 14 and 16 years, so in a 30 team league aren't statistically one of the "losers" yet.

Since the '67 cup win, the Leafs have never been back to the finals.

The fact that they could settle down and come from behind bodes well.

And they've been feeling like they kind of had a cold and their cat just died like a week ago and they still feel bad about it and they think their girlfriend is cheating on them and their mind was on that the entire game and they're just not "feeling it" right now. but they still got it done.

Also as a ref I can't loving stand "playoff rules" officiating standards. If the refs called he same game they did in reg season you'd arguably have even smoother flow of play than by easing off because guys would know they can't get away with garbage crosschecks and guys like Matt "I'm a stupid rear end in a top hat" Martin would help hand out water bottles.

Yes I'm mad about sports

But the game is so fast, the refs can't be expected to see the thing they're looking directly at.

Talbot got a shutout and an assist on a McDavid goal and didn't even get in the top 3 stars. granted he only made 16 save. 10 even strength, 5 in 12 minutes of PK, and 1 shorthanded.

The Sharks were so bad they made the oilers D look good. both goals given up short handed. I wonder who got more shots on the Sharks powerplays.

Both shorthanded, same spot on the ice, both goalies dead to rights, even celebrated in the same spot.

Expect to see these overlaid side by side in every oilers video reel for the next 50 years.

edit: put them side by side, pause Mcdavid at the redline play gretzky, unpause Mcdavid when gretsky hits the redline. Goosebumps.

All those positive feelings are gone. That was the worst game the Oilers played all season, and it's beyond frustrating when the Oilers had been the better team in the series, could've been up 3-0 if they didn't fall asleep in Game 1, and instead now they're tied 2-2. But there's no chance in hell they're winning another game in this series. They're done. Stick the :fork: in them, they aren't coming back.

At least we made the playoffs, at least we won 2 games, and at least the Flames still suck more than we do. Now hopefully Chiarelli does some work in the off-season to make us better, because this team isn't going far the way they are right now.
