Hahaha that's amazing, gently caress Torts and gently caress Matt Calvert.

What did Jenner and Harrington do to get misconducts at the end of the game?

I know making GBS threads on MAF is fun and often deserved but his stats are definitely better than Osgood and he didn't have the benefit of Detroit defense so let's not go overboard.

According to the NHL rulebook (under Rule 8 - injured players, I'd copy paste it but its too annoying on tablet) it basically says that officials may whistle the play dead at their discretion if they think the injury is serious but aren't required to do so until the injured player's team recovers the puck, and the subsection specifcally for bleeding players simply says that the player "shall be ruled off the ice at the next stoppage of play." The refs could have blown it dead if they wanted to, and it would have been justified by the rules, but they also did nothing wrong by the rulebook by letting play continue.

That's pretty much it, unless they thought Werenski needed immediate can't wait another second care they would wait until Columbus had possession to blow it dead. There are two notable examples of this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hzoOH6-DSY&t=202s

Van Hellemond was later fined by the league for disallowing that, saying it should have counted. And :laffo: at Kovalev going down so easily. If you find the original game feed they talk about how he's known for diving to draw penalties but he clearly can't be faking it because of how quickly he fell.

And then you have the flipside where they don't blow the whistle

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTh9fo9znHk

I imagine the referee doesn't want to make that judgment call unless he has no choice.

I missed the game tonight due to work but the only defenseman who I've noticed to be bad a lot is Ian Cole. Though Maatta is pretty slow and is probably getting exploited because of that.

Cancer, two surgeries on the same shoulder. hot-brained by Orpik, hand surgery this year... he just hasn't been able to stay healthy to really work on his strength. He has good hockey sense, but I'm hoping he can have a safe rest of the year.

E: I forgot about that open door fall too, that was scary. He can't catch a break.

I remember staying up watching the... triple overtime Stars-Sharks game that Dallas eventually won. I was a senior in high school and slept through several classes. One teacher gave me a pass. It ruled.

I also remember watching the Canucks/Stars series in 05-06 where Luongo and Turco went against each other and had an insane series. I think the first game was a long overtime and Turco had like three shutouts but still lost the series. It was amazing.

As for Caps/Pens, I hope every game is like the 8-7 one from January.

Enough people made a stink about the Penguins getting Pascal Dupuis but not Beau Bennett added onto the Cup that Beau even said on twitter "no really guys I understand, I'm not mad"

And then of course Kevin Porter got in right on the nose at 41 games so any future Penguins fan that sees the Cup will be like "who the hell was that"

My favorite part of that with Bennett was him following up saying the only things that make him angry are being stuck in traffic and being hungry.

I feel like the euro leagues are willing to be more generous with contract length compared to NHL/AHL for fringe guys too. Some will sacrifice comforts of home for that security.

Ryan Whitney wrote an awesome article for the players tribune about his time in Russia if you want some perspective on it: https://www.theplayerstribune.com/ryan-whitney-russia-khl/

Have we covered the assertion that Ovie deliberately shot the puck at Hainsey's head and meant to injure him in Game 2?

The complex is real.

This one is even worse because if Ovi was that accurate he wouldn't bother with ears he would score a million goals.

Everyone's opinions here have been good and level headed and i am grateful to have the privilege to spend $10 and post with all of you.

Obviously it wasn't SAS but that family that had a sign at game 5 of the finals saying how they've been waiting 8 years for this moment are the poster children for why you should hate Pens fans.

Is there some reason Root won't bring back Mike Lange for the TV broadcast too or does he just not want to be bothered for it.

The NHL has always done their bullshit of treating playoff games as more valuable than regular season games so hoping for anything more than a game is a pipedream.

And even if they do get something right they just change their mind down the line like they did with the Devils forfeiting picks for the Kovalchuk contract.

Careful what you wish for, gently caress corey perry did this too. I think to Jeff Carter.
