Introduction/
Trick X Logic is a deductive reasoning game for the PSP that was released only in Japan in 2010.
Deductive reasoning(推理) is a type of short novel genre in Japan that encourages the reader to think
logically and solve the mystery. The appeal of the genre is the satisfaction you get
when everything starts to make sense. 7 Prolific mystery writers each write their own murder mystery
scenarios for different chapters in the game. Dangan Ronpa is part of this genre and is actually what
inspired me to delve more into it because I wanted more class trials, and I ended up finding this.

About the LP
I will be doing a screenshot LP with transcripts of the dialog and short story segments, with links
to cut scenes and music.
This LP will be focused on audience participation. I encourage you guys to work together to figure out
the solution, details on how will be explained later in the LP, basically you pick certain glowing
sentences that have some relation to eachother that create an idea and you use those ideas to answer
questions the game asks you.

As a forewarning, I'm not a profesional translator. Translation requires proficiency in both languages
in order to deliver sentence structure that equates the original writting. Seeing as how these are
literarry works and I'm a high school drop out who has only been studying Japanese for 5 years, don't
expect a perfectly readable translation. I can barely put my thoughts into words as is, let alone
some author's literary work, take that as you will. If someone wants to be my editor and make my
english translation sound more legible then I would be happy to work with you.

There most likely won't be any need to worry about spoilers since I don't think anyone has ever heard of
this game, so this will be new ground for everyone.

Anyway grab a cup of tea, find your pipe and get to deducing.

Practice Problem: The Pointing Corpse
We pick the only book that we can in the menu after pressing new game and we get greeted with this

Then an anime cutscene starts playing.
You can watch the cutscene in this video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPtY42U8I5U
I don't reccomend you watch the rest after the anime as there are a couple of mistakes and errors in the video.

(Also I don't have the music that plays in the backround here, I couldn't find a way to rip it from the game data)

After that happens we end up in the underworld talking with this fellow.

Yama: ...With that said

Yoshikawa: The hell with that said.
Yoshikawa: Who the hell are you?
Yoshikawa: Where am I?

Yama: ...You aren't suprised at all, huh.
Yama: What a boring one.
Yoshikawa: Who exactly are you?
Yoshikawa:Take off that weird costume.
Yoshikawa:Show your face.
Yama:This ain't a costume.
Yama:I've always been like this.
Yoshikawa: ...What is this place?
Yama:The underworld
Yama:And I am the one who children fear the legends of, the ruler of the underworld...
Yama:I am The Great King Enma.
Yama:But everyone just calls me Yama.
Yama:Pleasure to work with you.
Yoshikawa: Underworld... You're saying this is hell?
Yama: You've died.
Yama: From falling off a building.
Yama: Well, to be clear, only your soul is here.
Yama:Your body is being taken to a hospital in the above world
Yama:It's one of those coma state things
Yama:If your soul returns, you will come back to life.
Yama:You want to come back to life, don't you?
Yama:You wouldn't want to live an eternity in a dreary place like this, would you?
Yoshikawa:...Wanting to go back......I don't even feel like I would be able to.....
Yama: Don't worry!
Yama:If you do what you gotta do, I'll send you back safe and sound.
Yama: It's a fitting job for a famed genius prosecutor.
Yama:If you perfrom well in the job, I'll let you go back the normal world.

Yoshikawa: Work...?
Yama: Ah, a bite.
Yama: I knew humans like woriking.
Yama: Alright, first, read that there.
Yama: The book you're holding....
Yama: I will give you an easy challenge to test your skills.
Yama: That book is something called Akasha here in the underworld.

Yama: Things that happen in the real world are written down in Akasha.
Yama: This one is a record of a little case that occured in a certain library.
Yama:You will be the one to deduce who the culprit is.

He gives a tutorial on how to read, which I'm going to go ahead and skip.

And we finnally get to the meat of the game.

Chapter 1: One problem
♪ Debussy-reveire
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRjllL-MP0U

Once entering the audiovisual room, a stuffy wave
of heat and smell of blood was immediatly felt.
Different than the reading floor before that had air-
conditioning, this room feels as hot as a sauna.
"Very sorry, only this air conditioner is broken. However
all the other rooms are fine "
The library staff member who was following
the detective, said while bowing and covering his
mouth with a hankerchief.

In the corner of the room was a man's corpse. He
expired face down.
There are various traces on the head that look like
blunt trauma, the blood flowing from the wounds
painted the white linoleum* floor red. With there
being various blows to the head, it's imporbable to
think that they were self-inflicted.

Next to the body was a door, on the middle of the
door was a 180 centimeter high, and 20 centimeter
wide glass slit* .

"What is this door?"
Asks the detective to the library staff.
"That door leads to one of the library rooms. It can
be entered from the reading floor, but it can also be
entered from here as well for convinience. Because
there is no video or CD library in this particular
room"

Looking through the door slit, large shelves of video
tapes and CDs can be seen lined up. The detective
through the slit looks around the library room on
the other side, he tilts his head.
"...Just what was he trying to point to...."

For whatever reason, the victim's right index finger
was pressing against the glass slit.
Almost as if trying to point to something on the
other side of the slit, or maybe trying to write some-
thing down.

The next thing that drew the detective's eyes, was
the double door windows showing the outside
scenery. There was a rice field stretching out,
10 meters in front are train tracks.
Maybe, one of the passengers saw the crime through
the window?.... He thought, but this is the sixth floor.
It may be best not to keep hopes up for that.

Under the window are a few drops of blood. The victim
was attacked by the window, and fell when heading
toward to the library room door, he thought.

This ends the first chapter with an interuption from Yama.
He explains how to bookmark pages, and a file menu that holds character data, index, and diagrams.
Here is a map of the library.

Chapter 2: The Two Suspects.

Later, an autopsy by medical officer* was carried out,
the time of death was presumed to be between 1PM
to 2PM. The only one using the audiovisaul room at
that time was only the victim himself, there were two
people who used the neighboring library room.

One was a man named Kuroki.
He was using the library room that was next to the
murder scene from 12:2oAM to 1:20PM for one hour.
It seems he was reading a book the whole time.
The detective first invites Kuroki into the library room
and asked. "Whileyou were in here did you happen
to hear anything suspicous from the other room?"
"Can't tell. Seeing as how I was too concentrated on
reading ."

incidentally the book he was reading were 3 thick
volumes of Shounen manga. He intended to get
through all of them, but he felt too cold, turned off
the airconditioner, and left the room, he says.

The other one is a man named Shirai.
He used the library room from 1:40PM to 2:00PM
for exactly 20 minutes.
"I was recording a train video. This place is good for
recording trains. In terms of angle."
He said while carefully showing off the heavy looking
digital camera.

When the data was confirmed in order to be sure, a
video of trains coming and going was recorded for
around 20 minutes was stored. There were no suspicous
sounds or images shown, however for a couple of seconds
in the start, a sweaty Shirai is shown opening the
window.

"Was the air conditioner off?"
"Obviously. I wouldn't be able to handle having an
annoyingky loud airconditioner cutting off the sounds
of my trains running.
Certainly, even with the windows closed it's still closed
the air conditioner's radiator can be heard. It would
probobly be heard even more if the windows were
open.

After letting Shirai go, the detective is left in the library
room alone, he turns looking around the area.
There is no window on the door thats facing the reading
floor connecting this room, so the state of the room
can't be known from outside. Either Kuroki or Shirai
could have carried out the crime without anyone's sight
being able to reach them, although.....

"Hm?"
It was then that the detective found an unexpected
discovery.
It was something that was definitely not there
when inspecting the body.
"I see... So it's him."
There the culprit's name was clearly lingering.

This ends the last chapter of the Akasha. Yama starts talking to us again.

Yama: However, sometimes there are troublesome [Akasha]
Yama: Types where you can't figure out who the drat the damned one is
Yama:How about it?
Do you know the truth about this case?
Yoshikawa:...Possibly, an answer is popping up in my head
Yama: Hm, How about we make that "pop" into something concrete.
Yama: There is a new power within you.
Yama: A power to see suspicous articles from the [akasha]
Yama: The black rose in your hand.
Yama: When your soul is pierced by it's thorns, the droplets of your soul dyes the [akasha] red
Yama: If you have the heart to see the truth, then (key)words will float from the [akasha]
Yama:Depending on the keyword you will create an answer.
Yoshikawa:Create an answer...?
Yama: Yes, within the [akasha] things like the [tattva(truths)] are always in a set.
Yama: It's this.

Yama: Once this [tattva] is complete, then finally judgement will be passed.
Yama: It said show with one [epiphany] didn't it?
Yama: When deducing the keywords in the [akasha], many epiphanys will be created.
Yama: Creating [epiphanys] this way and using them will complete a [truth].
Yama:That is your duty.
Yama:However, this dosen't mean all [epiphanys] created are correct.
Yama: There may be bealiveable lies within an [epiphany].
Yama:Take care to not get confused.
Yama:Well then, I will challenge you to solve this mystery.
Yama:First a prerequisite before mystery solving....
Yama:One, everything written in the book is truth. Howeverthere is a possibility the culprit may be lying.
Yama:One, a strong or weak motive is not what is important.
Yama:One, The tricks and culprit do not rely on phenomena such as super ability or extra terrestials.
Yama:Even me or the inhabitents of the underworld take no part in cases of the transient world whatsoever.
Yama:Based on all of that, seek out [epiphanys] that
hold [truth] within them
Yoshikawa:Depending on keywords to create an answer, find epiphanys with truths in them, is it......

What all this means is that you can choose multiple "Keywords" that the game shows you.
There is "Deduction bank" where you can store up to 5 keywords. When you go to the Deduction bank

I also think turned off the air conditioner, and left the room, he says and in the start, a sweaty Shirai is shown opening the window is significant because if Shirai had turned off the air conditioning when he did, then Kuroki couldn't have turned it off like he claimed. Clearly the culprit is lying.

Can we first clear up a little inconsistent translation issue?

italics mine.

on that note - I'm cool with most of Mraagvpeine's keywords, but I'm more thinking about :

right index finger was pressing against the glass slit

Looking through the door slit, large shelves of video tapes and CDs can be seen lined up

trying to point to something

heavy looking digital camera

I'm on to you, Shirai

Unfortunately both deductions bring up "could not deduce" Actually I'm not sure of a good way to translate 推理不可 iproper deduction?
Mraagvpeine Has the right idea though. It's my fault for not explaining the game mechanics correctly.
Well this is practice for all of us including me.
Anyways, first you need to let the game know you're raising a question.
There's actually two menus, a word bank menu, and a "Mystery" menu.
The mystery menu is added to when a keyword is deduced and "raises a question.
I should have mentioned this in the LP, sorry.

I took the liberty of raising the question for you guys.

I put the keywords "Turned the air conditioner off and left the room" and also "even with the windows closed
the air conditioner's radiator can be heard "
(Thanks for pointing out the error, Exercu)
Only the closed window keyword reacts and creates this mystery.

And now you can add this mystery into the wordbank or "deduction slot" and combine it with other keywords.
I'm still not 100% sure myself on how the mechanics of this game work to be honest.
It's a very unique way of answering questions. It dosen't just let you jump to conclusions.

I put cloudy glass as the answer to the question of "where and what state was the place where the name was found"

I put Kuroki as the answer to the culprit.

Before you submit your results the game makes you save, so your rank goes down if you get it wrong.
Way to make your players feel like poo poo, game.

Then a dramatic little cutscene happens to make you feel like your making a big desicion.

He says "Verification begin"
The cutscene actually makes you feel tense later on, when the game gets harder.

Yoshikawa: I've soved it
Yama: Let's here it.
Yoshikawa: Before that, I want to confirm something about the question of the "Tattva"
Yoshikawa: This was the question
Yoshikawa: "The detective at a certain place discovered the culprit's name remaining"
Yoshikawa: "Show with one "epiphany" what "place" and what "Condition" it was in"
Yama: That's right.
Yama: In order to show that, a concrete epiphany is necessary.
Yama: All the "Akasha" you will face from now on will be similar.
Yama: There is always an exact matching epiphany to answer the "tattva"
Yama: You found that answer didn't you?
Yoshikawa: It's this.

Yoshikawa: The place the "tattva" asks is the door glass
Yoshikawa: And the state, was clouded
Yama: How does the door glass being cloudy prove anything?
Yoshikawa: The audiovisual room which had the broken AC, was hot the whole time
Yoshikawa: If the library room next door was in a cool state, then the door glass in the audiovisual room would get cloudy due to condensation
Yoshikawa: if the glass is cloudy you would be able to write on it.
Yoshikawa: The reason for the victim's finger pressed up against the glass, is because he left a dying message there
Yama: I see....
Yama: So the victime left a dying message because the glass was cloudy
Yama: however, there wasn't any dying message when the detective was investigatin the scene.
Yoshikawa: That's because there was no difference in temerature at the time
Yoshikawa: Shirai did not turn on the AC
Yoshikawa: That's apparent by the video he recorded
Yoshikawa: After Shirai used the room and left, both the library and audiovisual room were in a hot state.
Yoshikawa: It's known that both of the rooms didn't have a temerature difference by the actions the investigating detective took
Yoshikawa: The fact that the detective looked through the glass into the library room means...
Yoshikawa: It means the glass was not cloudy.
Yoshikawa: Of course the dying message dissapeared as well
Yoshikawa: But, afterwards, when the detective was questioning Kuroki and Shirai....
Yoshikawa: The library room's AC was on
Yoshikawa: He then finally noticed the message show up once again
Yoshikawa: The culprit is.... Kuroki
It can't be anyone else.
Yama: Kieeee!
Brilliant!
Yama: Perfectly correct!
Yama: I would expect no less from some regarded as a genius like you
Yama: You are using that new power well in union with your deduction ability
Yama: However, the real thing won't be an easy little game of clue
Yama: When you fail at solving the mystery, you will have to go back to assembling the tattva from square one
Yama: The tattva's contents will change here and there everytime you go through solutions
Yama: Get it wrong, think it over, get it wrong again....
You'll have to rinse and repeat.
Yama: That's where fast talk mode has been prepared for solution compiling
Yama: if you hold circle you will be able to fast foward conversations
(he says a tounge twister which you skip throuh)
Yama: Let me tell you some tips for solving mysteries
Yama: first of all read through the "Akasha" thoughroly this is fundamental
Yama: Then, try to gather as much "mysteries" as you can
Yama: Deduce keywords with each other and mysteries will come popping out
Yama: Once you have enought, carefuly look through those mysteries
Yama: Then, when you think you've got gold, begin to deduce mysteries + keywords
(Thanks for letting us know the basics after the turorial, game)
Yama: It'll get easier to do through experience
Yama: Read thoughroly, make as many mysteries, then wring them out by looking through them all
Yama: By doing that, you'll feel that nice sensation when a light bulb pops over your head
Yoshikawa: I undersand
(He says to use tags and other convenient functions, explains controls, then Yoshikawa mentions Yama messed up the tounge twister when fast talking yada yada, bringing up the use of backlog meaning you can see past sentences,)

verification complete

Now the game lets us chose from 5 different stories.
I'm going to go ahead and start in chronological order.

Takemaru Abiko is most notably known for writing "Night of The Sickle Weasel" or "Banshee's Last Cry" as it's known in the west.
And by figure they mean anime figure, this is a Japanese game after all, we have to give the Otakus that read this something to motivate them to solve the mystery, right?

We immediately start in the middle of a conversation with Yama.
Music:https://clyp.it/haypnhqs
Yama: There are many humans who commit crimes
Yama: Yama: I'm sure as a prosecutor you know that well.
Yama: The damned must be punished
Yama: Yama: Judgment is a necessary burden, especially for sinful wandering souls.
Yama: All the books here are "Akasha"
Yama: They record all the events in your world
Yoshikawa: Everything....?
Yama: Yes everything.
Yama: Since long ago to the present, records for all of humanity
Yoshikawa: Are they written by you?
Yama: No.
Yama: I don't know who's writing them.
Yama: I just fulfill my duty, going by the "Akasha"
Yama: The duty of deciding the fate of human souls that is
Yoshikawa: ...And you're making me help with that?
Yama: I don't got enough hands
There's just too many humans causing crimes
Yama: Even now a small crime occurred and was recorded into "Akasha"...
Yoshikawa I feel like there wouldn't be much of a difference with just one more person
Yama: This happened more than 1200 years ago, but there was a man named Onono Takamura
Yama: He helped me bestow judgement down here
Yama: Quite the capable man he was
Yama: With a certain method he solved cases speedily for me.
Yama: It is this
Yoshikawa ...?
(Then this happens)

Yama: That's probably a police man
Yama: Also

Yama: The other one seems to be a suspect for this case...
Yama: With this people related to the case are summoned, and together you will solve the mystery.
Yama: They say more heads are better than one, so this should lead to good results.
Yama: The reason I'm depending on a human like you is because of this.
Yama: Everyone gets scared of me and we can't even have a conversation
Yama:When the mystery is solved those two will get sent back
Yama: Until then I will go to the corner and read another "Akasha"
Yama: Well then, do your best
Yoshikawa:...
Music https://clyp.it/mprybeec
Tsukasa Huh?
What is this... place?
Marunouchi: Where am I?
Who are you?
Yoshikawa: Are you a policeman?
Marunouchi: Eh? Yeah that's right, I'm Marunouchi
Yoshikawa: Is that girl there a suspect?
Marunouchi: Yeah
Marunouchi: Amano Tsukasa: A suspect in a robbery case.
Tsukasa: Suspect? I haven't stolen anything!
Marunouchi: Hey, how do you know that?
Yoshikawa The robbery case is still under investigation, right?
Marunouchi: That's right
This one is actually a peculiar case
Marunouchi: Including her, everyone seems innocent, yet suspicious at the same time...
Tsukasa So I AM being suspected!
Tsukasa: I haven't done anything!
Tsukasa: I'm going home okay!
...
Tsukasa: What is this place?
Yoshikawa ...I will explain
(Cut to black)
Music:https://clyp.it/haypnhqs
Yoshikawa ...That's about it
Marunouchi: hmmm It's hard to believe...
Marunouchi: That thing reading a book in the corner is the ruler of the underworld, Yama...
Marunouchi: Hard to believe....
Tsukasa: Anyways, that book is about the case isn't it?
Yoshikawa It seems so
Tsukasa: Mr.Yoshikawa, if you solve it
Yoshikawa: I have to read it first...
Tsukasa If you don't solve the mystery we won't get to go back, right?
Tsukasa: I seriously haven't stolen anything!
Tsukasa: Please find the real culprit!
Tsukasa: I will help as much as I can! Please!
Yoshikawa: (...Looks like I don't have a choice..)

(Now begins the first chapter of this Akasha
The game doesn't show the keywords at first you have to read it without keywords first, but I will be showing them in order to save time and space
The first two pages don't have a background)
Music https://youtu.be/GCi986FY3hI

Upon hearing robbery, he assumed it would be another case related to a series of frequent cat burglaries that have been occurring; it seems the circumstances are different, and Marunouchi was perplexed.

He stopped and looked up at an old storage house built like it could withstand decades. It doesn't look all that large, but it's still sturdy, and it does not look easy to break into. Many forensic workers retrieving samples can be seen from the open doors.

"Detective! Is this really ok? If they break anything in my collection I will be demanding compensation.
Ah-That powder for taking fingerprints will come off later right?

Said the man next to Marunouchi peeking inside nervously. He is the victim who met the fate of robbery, Miyamoto Manabu. Around his 40s, he has neither employment nor relationship and with his parent's money is amassing some sort of "collection"[/b].

He looks like he does not exercise and only eats high calorie food, fat and greasy; even though it's winter sweat flows from him like a waterfall.
(Easy on the fat-shaming, it's bad for business)
That's right, inside the storage house it looked as if one-- no two-- three shops from Akihabara moved in there.

Video players, Laser discs, DVDs, and a plasma TV for viewing plus a speaker system all in the middle, 3 meters of shelves line 3 of the walls, full of things like bishoujou figures and otaku goods lined up in glass cases like works of art.

He thought it was mostly some sort of anime characters, but they were also in appearances one wouldn't let kids see, it seems the forensic workers could not help but snicker.

"Don't worry. Crime scenes with valuable antiques and paintings are common. Those guys are professionals."
"But they probobly think these things are just toys, don't they?-- Aaah! Don't touch Azusa-chan with those dirty hands!"

Miyamoto who looks like he's about to leap inside is held back by Marunouchi as he says,
"It's okay. You want the culprit caught and your stuff back right?
Then please cooperate"

They enter the lobby, behind a folding scree with a picture of a dragon and tiger was a reception area. For some reason only that part had a carpet laid out, with a western style sofa set placed there. As soon as they entered the reception area Miyamoto screamed.
"It's them! One of them stole it! Please search their homes!"

The 4 become startled and look over to Marunouchi and Miyamoto. 3 of them have the same atmosphere as Miyamoto, but one of them stood out a little from this place, it was a young woman.
"Miyamoto, that ain't it. We couldn't have stolen it, that's what I've kept telling you over and over"
A long and thin man in his mid 20s stood up and said with a kansai accent.

"The culprit stole that and nothing else. Besides ,All the people who knew that was there are here. Or could it be that somebody told someone that that was in there?"
The 4 of them look at each other uncomfortably, none of them say a word. The tall man sits back down with a dissatisfied look.

"by that, you mean the stolen figure don't you? I know it's very valuable, but please tell me further details"
"It's a figure of Hiroto Yamagishi"
Miyamoto said with both a look of anger and pride. How dexterous of him.

"Hiroto Yamagishi.... Is that a male figure?"
Miyamoto widened his eyes as if he couldn't believe and looked back at him.
"Hiroto Yamagishi. You don't know?"
"Is it some sort of anime character? I don't know."
"You don't know the world's Hiroto Yamagishi. Give me a break."
Miyamoto gives a scoff, when looking at everyone else they too have the same expression.

A university student looking man with round border-less glasses begins talking.
"U-Um you see, Hiroto Yamagishi is a product which sells for 20 million dollars in the great Sazabiizu auction. Japan's figures have already been proven by the world to be elegant pieces of art, they are made by talented artists and sculptors."

"That's right. Saying you don't know of Hiroto Yamagishi and being Japanese is like the same level of embarrassment of not knowing Utamaro"
Said Miyamoto happily.
Other than the details, his way of talking and over exaggerated expression was surprising. Could this way of talking popular among the otakus?
However, it feels like there was news of that.

"I see. Does that mean figures made by the same person had the same high value? Would they be 5 million 10 million dollars?"
Marunouchi says so in an ill tempered manner, which causes Miyamoto to hesitate.

"No, well... Not all figures get to that value. When I bought it, it was around 1 million, but right now products of the same time won't go bellow 3 million. Actually they don't even show up in auctions very much, they are things you can't buy with any amount of money. Even I wouldn't give it up for 3 or 4 million."

Looking at the 4 others, none of them are disputing, it seems the value isn't exaggerate.
After hearing that it's actually 3 million instead of 20 million is a bit of a relief. The degree of the value of theft is not something to take lightly, the detective himself was human after all, the more money on the line would make anyone nervous.

"Pardon me. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Marunouchi. You are all friends of Miyamoto but what brings you all here?"
They all begin talking as the testimonies are being collected.

Including Miyamoto all of them became friends through internet anime goods stores, every week on Saturday where they show their own treasures with each other, to boast together. This afternoon they gathered together, right at 2:00PM where the storage lock was released and they held a meeting inside.

Is how it should have been, but before anyone could even sit, Miyamoto went into an uproar saying "Hiroto Yamagishi is gone!" the meeting was cancelled. everyone's person was searched, aswell as the inside of the storage house scrupulously of course the figure was not found, the police were called then.

"Now that you understand it all can I go home yet? I have an important meeting to get to"
The oldest of the group, Oogata says while looking at his watch. Oogata is in his 50s and has a few gray spots starting to show in his ]hair which is tied back. He says he is an anime screenwriter.

"This isn't a joke!...Oogata, you wanted to buy that most of all. When you knew I had no intention of selling it, that's what made you do it isn't it?"
Oogata's expression changes.
"-oi, cut it out already. I always thought you were a rude one but I can't take it anymore. You are a disgrace to the otaku culture, you're scum."

"W-Wait, Oogata. Miyamoto is just a bit riled up because his treasure was stolen. Right?"
The tall man stands up again, panicingly trying to calm them down. His name is Sakaguchi. He seems like an ordinary company employee who would have no relation to anime, at least he seems to have more common sense than the rest of the other guys.

"Sakaguchi what about you. you kept eyeing that figure while drooling"
"I sure as hell wasn't drooling! Stop saying bullshit!"

"Sa-Sakaguchi please calm down. Miyamoto, don't call people thieves baselessly. Aren't we all friends?
The one who looks like a student with round glasses is called Negishi. Although he looks like just a student, he says he's a writer.

"Negishi you've been worried about not having much work recently haven't you. Could it be that you tried to sell it for a new life? --- Please give it back!"
"Please cut it out. If I wanted to sell it I would have stolen something else"

Out of the 4 of them one stayed silent the whole time simply watching them argue, it was Amano Tsukasa a 20 year old looking woman, She is the newest member of the group, which puts her in a suspicous state, she does not open her mouth.

Miyamoto thought it wouldn't be good to fight against 3 of them, that's when he looked to Amano who sat worriedly.
"Th-That's right. Everything's been safe till now until Amano came and this happened You're the most suspicious of all."
He says while pointing hissausage looking finger.
"M-Me? That's crazy-"

Marunouchi gets a bit farther from the discussion that's continuing and observes, when before long his subordinate Aoki who came from the storage to give a report.

The forensic workers have came up with the prints they retrieved, They all belong to Miyamoto Manabu Although the storage house looks old it is well built, and there is no point of entry for a human to enter other than the door in front.

The storage is locked by a high tech Finland made strong padlock and it is impossible to open by lockpick even by pros, there are no traces of such an attempt either. It is impossible to dismantle the metal fixtures as well, with no traces of attempts aswell. Same with the hinge on the door aswell.

The three other walls have an opening for light three meters high, It's a lattice door opening with no way for a person to go through. However they all have shelves to the bottom aswell as having a stepladder in the storage house, it's not impossible for someone to climb on it and and throw the figure out of the storage house that's what Aoki suggested.

Marunouchi returns to the reception area, when he is surprised to see them all looking away from each other and quiet.
"I'd like to talk with you all one by one, can I have a room be arranged?"

(Here is a diagram of the storage shed)

(I'll continue the rest in a later update)

You wanna get squirted?
After we finish with the first chapter we get interuppted with dialouge

Yoshikawa: Hoo
Yoshikawa: Let's take a break here
Tsukasa: ...
Yoshikawa:Hm? What's wrong?
Tsukasa: that book... Really is written about what happened...
Yoshikawa: Isn't that what I explained earlier?
Tsukasa: Well...
Tsukasa: Saying there's a book that's written about the case out of nowhere...
Tsukasa: Honestly, it's all a bit unblealivable
(getting summoned to another dimmension is fine by me, though)
Yoshikawa: Yeah, you're right.
Yoshikawa: I'm actually having my doubts as to weather or not these cases happened....
Yoshikawa: But if a suspect themselves says so, then this akasha must be the real thing
Tsukasa: I wish the book would just tell us the suspect
Yoshikawa: Tell it to monster mash over there
Marunouchi: So then, have you figured out the culprit?
Yoshikawa: No.
Yoshikawa: Of course, the culprit can't be specified with only this much information.
Yoshikawa: We've gotten information about the characters but....
Marunouchi: Hm. Well, go ahead and say their names
(The game gives you a multiple choice question on who the characters are
of course they mess with the kanji to make the player feel as stupid as possible)
Yoshikawa: Miyamoto Manabu. Ooda. Sakaguchi. Negishi. Amano Tsukasa. Those five people.
Marunouchi: Right
Marunouchi: Knowing the names of the parties concerned is the basics of investigating
Yoshikawa: Unemployed Miyamoto, Anime screenwriter Ooda, company employee Sakaguchi, Writer Negishi, and Amano Tuskasa
Yoshikawa: When all five of them were about to hold their meeting, that's when the figure was found gone
Yoshikawa: The figure was made by Hiroto Yamagishi a sculpter
Yoshikawa: Who's valude dosen't go under 3million Yen....
Tsukasa: 3 million huh...
Tsukasa: With that much money you could use it on many things, not just a figure...
Marunouchi: Tsukasa, is that your way of confessing to the crime?
Tsukasa: Wha-What crime?!
Marunouchi: You want money so you stole the figure... That's a good enough motive, no?
Tsukasa: Wrong! I was just saying what I think...
Yoshikawa ...If you're gonna fight do it somewhere else
Yoshikawa I'm reading the rest

Chapter 2
Questioning

The one who was called first was of course Miyamoto.
"When was the last time you confirmed you had the figure?"
"Last week. The time of the meeting"
"Those four were in there weren't they?"
"That's right"
"The lock was not taken off other than that time, was it?"
"Yeah"

"Well then is it possible the figure could have been gone before you locked the storeage house last week?"
"...What do you mean?"
"Could someone have taken the figure behind your back in the last meeting, is what I mean."

"That isn't possible. I search everyone's belongings when leaving the storage house"
I wouldn't assouciate with someone who has such doubt amongst others, Marunouchi thought to himself.

"...There is a light fixture opening on top of the shelves. Is it possible for someone to throw it outside without you noticing?
"From there? Everyone would notice someone who's using the stepladder in the same room!"
"...Maybe they aimed carefully"
Miyamoto immagined that very act, and trembled.

"Please stop! She would break if they did that. Moreover the figure was in a glass case. What would they do with the case?"
"I see. I understand.
If that's the case then the only thinkable posibility is that the culprit went in through the door to steal it. Though I know you're using a strong lock."

Miyamoto chuckles proudly.
"Yes. But not just any lock, It's a superior lock that's used in nuclear and military facilities all over the world. It's evenUnbreakable and unpickable. Seeing as how it's demand so much I went through trouble for obtaining it. Even the most express order takes ten days deliver. The price is around $1000, but it's worth it."

Even though a burglar got through, Murunouchi whispered in his mind. Miyamoto's face looks as if he thought the same thing as well.
"When did you start using it?"
"The week before last...No maybe the one before. Before I was using one that they sell at a home center, but I realized it's not safe. When I knew there was a better one I ordered it right away."

"How many keys for it are there?"
"Three keys. It's impossible for normal locksmiths to duplicate aswell. You need to order from the maker themselves for the duplicate. Of course it's impossible for people other than me to order it aswell, other than the one I normally use the other two are locked in a strong safe. I don't even let my family get in there"
"You said you use one normally. Is that-"

"Miyamoto quietly pulls a chain from his sweater. There was a key attatched to the end of it.
"Do you always have it like that?"
"Yeah. Though I take it off when sleeping"
"You don't let your friends touch the keys, do you?"
"Right"

"-That means no one should be able to steal the figure. Except yourself."
Miyamoto turned into a serious temper.
"Don't joke with me! Why would I steal my own figure and cause all this trouble!"

"Maybe you had insurance"
"Insurance? Oh. If only I put insurance on it... drat it"
It looks like he didn't. Although it's possible he's playing a ruse. Or maybe the culprit hid it somewhere nearby , A careful investigation around the perimiter is necessary.

You wanna get squirted?

Amano Tsukasa was called in next, because it's been a while since talking with someone relatively normal.
(Are they trying to piss the otakus off?)
Because she joined in such a short time when the case occured, that makes her a prominent suspect.
"It's only been recent since you've started coming here. How did you all become acquainted?"
She fidgets slightly, but soon opened up to confessing.
"...Actually I don't have any interest in anime or figures. So naturally I wouldn't steal an erotic figure like that"
(That's irrefutable evidence if I've ever heard it)
"Huh? What do you mean?"

"Please don't tell them. -I'm actually an amature cameraman(female), and a magazine editorial that's letting me work for them told me they need me for "The Sights of Gross Otaku Rooms" column, and made me find pictures for those gross rooms. Why me?
(Just in case some Otaku are still reading, we need to make they really get insulted)

Isn't that impossible. But they said if I find the right room and submit photos they will use them, so I pretended to be interested and snuck into this meeting, so yeah."

It seemed like she wasn't used to those kinds of people, however her act lying in order to get in is suspicious. it would be necessary to get in contact with the editorial for a testimony.
"The figure that was stolen was of significant value among even Miyamoto's collection, you know that, right?"

"I guess... it is. I don't really get it, when I tried to talk with everyone they would always end up bringing THAT up. All I see is just a lewd big tited figure"
"Did everyone else seem to want it?"
"I think so. -Anyways I have absolutely no reason to steal it. Please understand that"

"I don't think so. Even if you having no interest in the figure is true, you could have stolen it for the money, or you could have broken it and tried to hide it. You did know it was a valuable object didn't you?"
"That's true but.... even if I was the culprit I wouldn't come back again nonchalantly"

"Certainly. However, they could have thought that not showing up all of a sudden would for sure attract eyes of suspicion. Especially for someone who started coming only last week, not showing up today would cause greater suspicon."
Marunouchi didn't think of her as the culprit at first, but with each argument he felt as if that may be the truth more and more.

"E-Easier said than done, that storage house is locked by a crazy strong lock. Maybe someone else had a chance to take a spare key, I can't do it. Please ask someone else"

-Spare key. Certainly the other members can obtain it easier than Amano.
Marunouchi thinks that, and let's Amano go.

The one who was called next was Ooda who wanted to go home.
"Please, I beg you, let's get this over with already. I mean you guys don't want to waste your time with stupid otakus do you?"
"I don't think whatsoever, but I will do my best to not take much time, please co-operate. -Now about the padlock on Miyamoto's storage house..."

"Yeah. That ridiculously huge padlock that he said something like even a chainsaw won't cut through it, it's stupid. Just cause the lock won't break doesn't mean the metal fixture the lock is hanging from can't be broken. If they wanted to leave it perfect then they could just replace the door or the fixture"
In terms of security that's true, however in this case There are no traces of breakage so it's unrelated.

"What about it being a more simple one before"
"That was right about 3 weeks ago. Right when Hiroto Yamagishi's creations rose in price altogether is when he switched, you could say it cause for anxiety. Before opening the door he kept flaunting about how much it was, or how it's used in nuclear reactors and such"
"Did you ever have a chance to touch the key?"

"No way! He kept it around his neck preciously. No one can get their hands on it. Even if you could it would be covered in his grease, so who would want to"
He gladly said with a laugh. Of course they did not open the door, rather they could have infiltrated from somewhere else, Marunouchi thought to himself.

The next one was Negishi the writer.
Apparently he's in his thirties but he looks as if he's in his twenties.
(Thanks for the info...?)
As soon as Negishi sat down he immediately started spitting out words that sound like excuses.

"In sincerity, I have absolutely no fixation on anime merchandise. The only reason I come to these gatherings is for the merit of being able to watch videos I don't happen to own."
"...But Miyamoto said so aswell, you know the figure would sell for a large sum of money don't you?"

"Please don't take that seriously! If I were to sell it, it would be among the same collector's circle. Invariably I would get found out right away. Sure, there are ways to sell overseas, but using net auctions would reveal me aswell. Without connections it's impossible. Someone like Ooda, who seems to go overseas frequently probably could."

The same logic of however more famous an art piece is the more harder it is to resell must apply.
"About that padlock..."
"Ah, about that. After being away once from the meeting, I saw it attached when I came back. I was shocked when I saw it. It seems everyone else knew about it, and they just scoffed."

It seems Negishi was not there for the unveiling of the padlock.
"Now about the key hanging from Miyamoto's neck, could anyone have been able to get a hold of it during the three weeks?
"Nah, that's impossible. At least from what I saw, he never once takes that off"

"The last one Marunouchi called was Sakaguchi. He asked him the same questions.
"The key? That's dang impossible. It's almost like he got it into his head that one of us were going to steal it, what an awful attitude, but I guess he wasn't too far off now that this happened"

Chapter 3
Reenactment

Feeling as if he hit a dead end with the padlock. He feels the need to investigate the scene once more, and brings everyone to the storage house. Forensic evidence has already been retrieved and the results have been reported.
"Can I have you all re enact the way everyone goes through with the meeting usually"

They group up behind Miyamoto and get close to the storage. It seems one of the workers had already closed the door. On the metal fixture, a lock that you can tell is strong just by looking at it is hanging while in an open state. Marunouchi goes to grab it and locks it assuredly. From looking at the fixture, or the hinge on the door there are no abnormalities that can be seen.
"Please, as usuall."

After that Miyamoto takes out the chain, sticks it in the lock and turns it. With a tight loud click the lock opens. Miyamoto opens the door and hangs the opened lock on the fixture, then opens the inward door and enters, then turns on a light switch and the the room lights in a flash. Ooda, Amano, Sakaguchi and Negishi follow in that order.

"Please hold on. There is no designated entry order is there?"
"Miyamoto always enters first, but other than that there is no particular order" Is what Negishi who was last in line answered.

"What was today's order like?"
All five take a while to think.
"Last week and this week I was second to last, and just like now Negishi was farthest last."
Said Amano nervously.
"...It does feel like that was the case"
Said Negishi.

The actual order then was, Ooda, Sakaguchi, Amano, Negishi is what everyone remembers. They are then told to enter and to sit like they did before. Then Miyamoto grabs the handles of the inside part of the outer door and pulls it in closing it, and also closing the inner doors aswell.

"And then?"
"Without even having time to relax, Miyamoto stood and screamed, 'It's gone! Hiroto Yamagishi is gone!'"
Said Negishi.

The figure that was stolen was in a shelf that was on the side where Miyamoto sits, about head hight when standing.
It would definitly be impossible for someone to stealthfuly go infront andeither hide the figure or throw it through the light window. Even so the light openings are closed at this time.

"If that's the case then there's no doubt, it was not gone in this particular meeting after all. Consider the following. The culprit had already stolen the figure in last week's meeting."
"I told you, I saw that it was still here before I left!"
Said Miyamoto angrily.

"Please listen to the rest. They steal the figure, then they could have placed something else instead. Maybe a fake, a picture. As well as it being able to disapear automatically. Maybe it was made of ice, or maybe something that could burn."

"You're saying even all the traces disapeared? That's dang impossible. You see, we can't leave until Miyamoto inspects our person. it ain't possible to steal it during the time of the meeting
Said Sakaguchi with cynically grin.
(I love Sakaguchi's Osakan accent mixed with polite speech I can't do it justice with my translation, his way of speech is beatifuly written)

If it wasn't from this meeting, or the one before, that means it could only have been stolen in between that time. However the keys are kept tightly secure, and no one can get to them. Just what is it?
"...Where is the bathroom?"
"The bathroom is in the main building but, when going to the bathroom it's empty handed and pockets are inspected."

"Did anyone go to the bathroom in the last meeting?"
"Because it's a bother everyone is to go before the meeting starts. Because Amano was new she had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the meeting and was probobly a bit confused"
Negishi says toward Amano and she nods.
"It was a surprise, but of course I properly took the inspection, you wouldn't even be able to get away with even a card"
(wow)

"Even though she a girl she gets body searched? Did you search to her underwear?"
(asking the real questions)
"I just made her turn her pockets inside out and stuff like that. Because I don't think there's a chance to hide anything under clothes
Said Miyamoto uncofertably.

Amano looks as if she remembered something and says,
"Someone else went to the bathroom aswell. It was...Ooda-san"
Ooda in a flurried mood says,
"It's been getting a bit frequent these days. But of course I took the inspection. Didn't I?"
Calling to Miyamoto

Miyamoto reluctantly nods.
"No matter the case it was stolen after that! Yesterday, the day before yesterday, or even a few days before, but it had to be from someone here! Who!? Please give it back to me!"
"...But only you can open the pad lock, and it seems there are no other enterances"

Everyone stares at Miyamoto with a suspecting gaze.
"What's with that stare? Hiroto Yamagishi was seriously stolen! Why would I lie about that!"
As long as he didn't insure it, there would be no reason for him to lie.
However from the suspects that are here, it dosen't seem like any of them could have stolen it within this one week's time.

Just what is the meaning of this...?

(That's it, after reading all the chapters Yoshikawa talks with Tsukasa and Marunouchi in Meikai to re affirm some details)
Here's a diagram just in case anyone cares

Unfortunately I already know the solution, since I played this before I decided to LP it, unfortunately I can't join in on the discussion just yet, I'm really looking foward to the next one book when I don't even know the solution.

From these keywords we get a reaction from "Even the most express order", when we press the deduce button.
We get this mystery

And then the characters chime in with their opinion

Yoshiwaka:Ten days to deliver... In other words it means you can have it within ten days
Tsukasa: That means I can buy it too right? Maybe I should but it for security....
Yoshikawa: That's if you plan on buying something close to $1000, don't let me stop you though...
Tsukasa: Thoughsand...!?
Tsukasa: Ah but if I spend all my savings I won't have to worry about theft anymore
Yoshikawa: Other than Miyamoto, who else could have the money to order that lock...?

I combine the new mystery with the being away once from the meeting, I saw it attached when I came back Keyword

They combine to form this epiphany

Yoshikawa: The lowest amount of time it takes to obtain the lock is ten days...
Yoshikawa: Which means if they knew about the lock 2 weaks ago, they could have ordered it right away
Tsukasa: But why would they? Even if you have the same one, it wouldn't help...
Yoshikawa: How the same lock relates to this case may be important.

That's a really crazy solution, I like it.
Unfortunately the actual solution is a bit... Anticlimactic.

You wanna get squirted?
When you deduce the keyword "The lock was hanging on the metal fixture" you get a mystery:
Mystery details: When was the lock changed?
When the meeting is being held, the lock is hanging on the outer door by the metal fixture.
Basically, it is not impossible for someone to replace it with another.
If the culprit did replace it, then when?
Then a dialog starts up
: anyone could have access to the lock during the meeting
: Since it was just hanging on the outer door
: If the culprit did something what was it...?

When you combine the mystery of "Chance to obtain the same lock as Miyamoto's" with the keyword "The week before last...No maybe the one before" you get the same epiphany of being able to obtain the lock, but it's three weeks ago instead.

When you deduce these two keywords

Then you get this mystery

Then the characters start talking
: This is an important mystery to this case.
: If they can't do anyting about the lock they wouldn't be able to get in, and the door is the only possible entrance.
: It being impossible to carry out during the meeting aswell, leads me to bealive no one stole it.
: In that kind of situation, When and from where did they steal it...?

When you combine that mystery just now with another keyword

You get three different versions of this epiphany

One for after,during,before.

: The only way to take out the figure from the storage is through the door or light fixture.
: But just how did they do it?
: In order to find out, we need to think differently
Good talk

Anyways with this information you should be able to answer these questions.

The last question is the culprit's name

Yoshikawa:: The victim for this case is Miyamoto Manabu
(Victim is a bit much)
Yoshikawa:: He was the victim of the burglary of a figure he kept in his house's storage
Yoshikawa:: When he was about to hold a meeting in his storage, like he does every week, when he entered that's when he noticed the figure was gone.
Yoshikawa:: Althought there is an opening for light, it is a lattice door window, meaning the only way to enter the storage is through the front door
Yoshikawa: However, the door has a strong lock, no one except Miyamoto can open it
Yoshikawa: Morover, during the meeting Miyamoto conducts a search on everyone, stealing it then is an impossibility
Yoshikawa: Well then, how, when, and where did the culprit manage to steal that figure?
Yoshikawa:: This is the greatest mystery of the case
Yoshikawa:: I would like to go through a verification of this mystery
Tsukasa:: What do you mean verification...? Like, point the criminal out?
Yoshikawa:: This case hides many mysteries
Yoshikawa:: As I expose those mysteries one after another, you will see the sole culprit and truth
(I think Yoshi dosen't have many friends)
Tsukasa:: There are mysteries hidden in the case?
Yoshikawa:: Yeah, let's settle this point first
Yoshikawa:: From where and when did the culprit steal the figure?
Then the game goes into verification mode. The answers the player submits are still not told wether they're right or wrong.
Music:https://clyp.it/qpsglbzh
Yoshikawa:: The only way to take the figure out from the storage house is either by the front door or light opening
Yoshikawa:: However there is a lattice door on the opening
Yoshikawa:: Meaning, that while the figure is in the glass case it can't be stolen from there
Yoshikawa:: Going by that logic, The only way to take it is by going through the door itself
Yoshikawa:: That's where this epiphany comes into player

Yoshikawa:: Miyamoto confirmed that by the time of the last meeting the figure was intanct
Yoshikawa:: Also a search is conducted, making it impossible to steal it during the meeting.
: This all means; the culprit stole the figure after the meeting was over
Tsukasa:: But the door has a strong lock on it, and there weren't any signs of tamperment, were there?
Tsukasa:: And all the keys are kept secure by Miyamoto...
Tsukasa:: Is it even possible to open the lock?
Yoshikawa:: The figure is gone because it's possible
Yoshikawa:: The lock was opened by Miyamoto last week, and the day of the crime.
Yoshikawa:: It was in that interval that the culprit got away with the figure
Yoshikawa:: With that in mind, I will explain [/b]how the culprit opened the lock[/b]
Yoshikawa:: What I want you to think about, is the key point of this case...
Yoshikawa:: The lock itself
Music:https://clyp.it/0bpwa0kj
Yoshikawa: The key point in this case is the lock....
Tsukasa:: I see... it does need a key
Not that part
Yoshikawa: Remember Miyamoto's testimony

Is that-"
Yoshikawa: From these satements there are two important points
Yoshikawa:: First is " I went through trouble for obtaining it. Even the most express order takes ten days deliver."
Yoshikawa:: Then one more, the part where he says, he didn't start using it until three weeks ago.
Yoshikawa:: These two points lead us to this idea
[padlock ordered three weeks ago]
Yoshikawa:: If they order it right after the meeting three weeks ago, then it would have been deliverd ten days later, before the week before last's meeting
Yoshikawa:: Basically, there was a chance to obtain Miyamoto's lock, before last week's meeting.
Tsukasa:: Two of the same lock?...This is getting confusing
:Marunouchi:Marunouchi But would the same key work for both?
:Marunouchi:Marunouchi Even if you have another, you wouldn't be able to open the other padlock
:Marunouchi:Marunouchi Miyamoto's lock only opens with his key
Yoshikawa:: Certainly, you can't open it... but you can lock it.
:Marunouchi: lock it?
Yoshikawa: For a normal door you need a key to both open and lock it.

Yoshikawa: But with a padlock, it's only when it's attached
Yoshikawa: Anyone is capable of locking it.
:Marunouchi Hmm...However if you lock it, that won't open the door.
Yoshikawa: You may be right
Tsukasa:: It's true
:Marunouchi:Marunouchi: Crying out loud... Don't say meaningless things
:Marunouchi:Marunouchi: Don't tell me there actually isn't any meaning to him ordering the same lock
Yoshikawa:: It's not meaningless
Yoshikawa:: There being two locks during the last meeting does have relation to this case
Yoshikawa:: Now, think about the problem this mystery imposes
Yoshikawa:: If the culprit went through the door after the last meeting...
Yoshikawa:: how did he open the lock

We're now currently verifying the method the culprit used in order to enter through the door.
Music:https://clyp.it/g1kdxlec
Yoshikawa:: If the culprit went through the door, then there is no doubt the culprit unlocked the padlock
Yoshikawa:: So then, "Which lock" with "who's key" did they open it with?
Tsukasa:: With who's?... Wasn't Miyamoto's lock opened with his key?
Marunouchi:: Or maybe, the culprit used his own key and opened Miyamoto's lock
(Why is the detective the most useless one?)
Tsukasa:: If not, then did he open his own lock with his own key?
Marunouchi:: How would he open the storage door that way?
Tsukasa:: I don't know that. I'm just saying what's possible
Marunouchi:: On the contrary, maybe he opened his own lock with Miyamoto's key?
(Who invited him?)
Tsukasa:: For what means?
Marunouchi:: How am I supposed to know? It's just a possibility
Tsukasa:: Ah!! Or maybe, after the last meeting was over, the lock wasn't properly secured?
(I just realized Tsukasa is the Maya of this game)
Tsukasa:: Then, the culprit could enter and lock it after he leaves.
Marunouchi:: They could get away with it as if nothing happened.
Marunouchi:: Hmm... What do you think, Yoshikawa-kun?
(Honorifics are important)
Marunouchi:: Who's lock did the culprit open with who's key?
(The game gives you a question here, I'm not even going to bother translating all the choices, because it's such a dumb question)
I answer with:
Yoshikawa:: The culprit opened his lock with his own key
Tsukasa::...That's normal
Marunouchi:: ...Too normal. Isn't that an ordinary thing for locks to do
Yoshikawa:: Yeah, they did something ordinary, and that's how the culprit entered the storage
Yoshikawa:: Seeing as how only Miyamoto is the only one who can open the lock he himself purchased
Yoshikawa:: All three keys are kept secure by Miyamoto, and keys can't be duplicated
Yoshikawa:: There is no possible way for the culprit to open Miyamoto's lock
Yoshikawa:: Which means, the culprit opened his own lock.
Tsukasa:: I get that the culprit can open their own lock, but...
Tsukasa:: How would they get in that way?
Yoshikawa:: The culprit entered the storage which should have been locked by "Miyamoto's lock" by instead opening "the culprit's lock"
(Yoshikawa would be the worst teacher)
Yoshikawa:: Do you understand what this means?
Yoshikawa:]: Miyamoto's lock and the culprit's lock were both switched
(I had to crop another sprite just because his expression is ever so slightly more serious)
Tsukasa:: Eh!?
Marunouchi:: They were switched!?
Yoshikawa:]: That's why the culprit opened his lock with his own key, and entered the storage.
Marunouchi:: H-Hold on, if they were switched, wouldn't Miyamoto notice?
Marunouchi:: Didn't you say, "1 week ago, and on the day of the case, Miyamoto opened the lock"
Marunouchi:: Not just opening it, 1 week go after the last meeting Miyamoto closed the lock.
Marunouchi:: He should have noticed if they were switched.
Yoshikawa:]: No, Miyamoto would not have noticed the switch.
Marunouchi:: How do you mean?
Yoshikawa:: Let me start from the beginning.
Yoshikawa:: Why didn't Miyamoto notice the switch?
Yoshikawa:]: Think back to the last verification result
Yoshikawa:]: Three weeks ago, when the meeting was locked by the new padlock, if they ordered the same one right away...
Yoshikawa:]: It wasn't until the meeting before, that they had the same type of lock and key as Miyamoto's
Yoshikawa:]: Basically the culprit had a very similar lock as Miyamoto's
Yoshikawa:]: Naturally, no one would notice if the same type of lock was switched out.
Yoshikawa:]: Remember one last thing....
Yoshikawa:]: Anyone is able to lock the padlock
Yoshikawa:]: Miyamoto was able to lock the padlock which was switched.
Yoshikawa:]: Therefore, the meeting ends, and the padlock is locked...
Yoshikawa:]: At the time Miyamoto didn't notice the locks were switched
(so much exposition holy gently caress)
Yoshikawa:]: Miyamoto, without knowing of the switch, locked the storage with the culprit's own lock
Marunouchi:: What a plan
Tsukasa:: I-I see...
Tsukasa:: He locks it up like normal, of course he wouldn't notice at all
Yoshikawa:: A trick made possible only because of the padlock.
Yoshikawa:: If it was just any type of door lock you wouldn't be able to switch out the lock.
Marunouchi:: Which means, the person who switched out the padlocks in the last meeting is...
Marunouchi:: That doesn't rule anyone out, everyone could have pulled it off
Yoshikawa:: No, only the one capable of switching out the locks is the culprit.
Yoshikawa:: I will explain that now.
Yoshikawa:: First, when exactly did the culprit switch the locks?
(I'm sorry if this is taking so long, they keep going in circles. Should I cut some corners next update? I mean some people above me have already figured it out )

Yoshikawa:: First, remember this Akasha article.
Yoshikawa:: After miyamoto unlocked it, he left it hanging on the hinge of the outer door
Yoshikawa:: Meaning, during the meeting, the lock could have been switched anytime
Yoshikawa:: This truth leads us to this idea
Yoshikawa:: This idea shows us at what timing the lock could be switched

(Also I love the sound effects the game uses: https://clyp.it/fekqxyjl that's so noir)
Yoshikawa:: The locks could only be switched when the lock was hanging on the door, after the meeting started.
Yoshikawa:: Where no one is looking, using timing to get a hold of the lock
Yoshikawa:: When going to the bathroom, you need to leave the storage and go all the way into the house.
Yoshikawa:: There's more than enough time to swtich them out
Marunouchi:: But, when leaving the storage there's a body check
Marunouchi:: If they had the lock on them wouldn't they get found out?
Yoshikawa:: Maybe they hid it in advance
Yoshikawa:: Then, when they leave the storage, they switch their hidden lock with Miyamoto's lock
Marunouchi:: Certainly... Miyamoto is always keeping watch inside the storage, but never outside.
Yoshikawa:: Now, let's organize the culprit's actions
[poo poo WE ALREADY KNOW]
Yoshikawa:: When he switches them out he comes back to the meeting
Yoshikawa:: The meeting ends, Miyamoto confirms the figure is there, and locks up as usual.
Yoshikawa:: Without even knowing the lock was changed
Yoshikawa:: Then, the culprit comes back to the storage when everyone is gone, and opens his own lock
Yoshikawa:: Then, steal the figure...
Yoshikawa:: Just like before, he switches the locks and locks the storage.
Yoshikawa:: With this, today's meeting begins, Miyamoto open's his own lock and opens the storage door...
Yoshikawa:: The figure is already in the culprit's possession, without even a trace
Marunouchi:: Hmm...
Marunouchi:: Basically the culprit is someone who went to the bathroom in that meeting.
Tsukasa:: Huh? Wait please.
Tsukasa:: If they just need to switch them, don't they just need a tiny bit of time?
Tsukasa:: If so, couldn't they switch them at a time other than going to the bathroom?
Yoshikawa:: Sure, there are many possible times to switch the locks.
Yoshikawa:: But, when specifying the culprit, taking other circumstances into account, there is only one possible time.
Tsukasa:: Circumstances to specify the culprit?
Yoshikawa:: Now let's move on to the last verification
(I can't wait to be done with this chapter! This truly is hell if we have to help manchild Miyamoto find the bully who stole his sex doll )

Yoshi: First, allow me to make the circumstance for identifying the culprit clear.
Yoshi: There are two conditions
(The game gives you a multiple choice question which I'll actually translate because it does take some thinking this time, for once. Quiz yourself)

Yoshi: First the culprit is someone who went to the bathroom in the previous meeting and switched the locks
Yoshi: Also, 3 weeks ago they attended the meeting
Yoshi: The lock was replaced with the stronger one 3 weeks ago, which takes 10 days to deliver
Yoshi: If they weren't at the meeting 3 weeks ago, and knew about it the next meeting...
Yoshi: They would have obtained it two weeks ago on a saturday
Yoshi: Basically, they wouldn't have it in time for the next meeting, 7 days later.
Yoshi: The only way to have it by the meeting one weeks ago is by being at the meeting 3 weeks ago
Yoshi:...Now, who is the one possible of switching locks in the last meeting?
Yoshi: The only ones who went to the bathroom last meeting are; Tsukasa-kun and Ooda.
Yoshi: Out of those 2, Tsukasa-kun attended for the first time last week
Yoshi: For that reason she couldn't order the lock 3 weeks ago.
Yoshi: There is also a possibility that they could have switched the locks when being last in entering the storage.
Yoshi: However, the last one to enter was Negishi, who did not attend 3 weeks ago.
Yoshi: Just like Tsukasa-kun, he couldn't have obtained the lock
Yoshi: Basically...
(Yoshi loves saying basically)
Yoshi: The culprit is Ooda. It can't be anyone else.

Marunouchi: Hm... Yoshikawa-kun, It seems there's no mistake in your logic
Marunouchi: This is a real fib on our departments part.
Marunouchi: I never though a trick like this would be hidden
Marunouchi: Even so, how surprising.
Marunouchi: If I had to say, this would be an ordinary break in robbery
Marunouchi: But you. You were like a hawk hunting his prey, keen and determined
Yoshi: Robbery is quite the crime. I can't simply let it go
Tsukasa: Thank you very much. You seriously saved me
Tsukasa: Could it be, Yoshikawa-san, that you had that kind of job in the real world?
Tsukasa: Like an investigator, or detective.
Yoshi: Not really... Well, yeah. Something like that.
Tsukasa: Either way thank you.
Tsukasa: Seriously, for a second I had a cold sweat when I though I was going to be chosen as the culprit...
Tsukasa: Can do men like you really are a bit different!
(Wha?)
Marunouchi: Sorry for being a can't do man.
Marunouchi: That aside, There's a glowing ring over there...What is that?
Yoshi: That showed up when you two arrived...
Yoshi: Maybe it's connected to the real world
Marunouchi: I see.
Marunouchi: I'm a bit spectical but it will bring me back, right?
Marunouchi: Well then, if you'll excuse me.
Marunouchi: I'm grateful. Now the case can be wrapped up.

Yoshi: Hm?
Next update will include a trailer for the next case.

LonelyMudkip posted:

Looks like I was right. Because they get searched when they leave to go to the bathroom, the culprit can't have their lock on them when they enter the room.

I'm guessing the "other circumstances" bit refers to the order in which they entered the room, because I guess that's the only other time the lock could've been switched? But because Negishi was last in line (and he can't be the culprit because he didn't know about the lock, I think? At least, I think that's what the game's going for) then the lock couldn't have been switched as they were entering.

Going by narrative convention the culprit is probably Ooda because it's never the assistant character.

Thanks for the LP, by the way. I really enjoy this kind of mystery game, but never actually get the chance to play them. Heck, I can hardly ever find a decent mystery game.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's my pleasure to share niche as gently caress games to people who appreciate them

LonelyMudkip posted:

This one seems pretty simple. One of the people who went to the bathroom (probably Ooda) replaces the open lock with his own lock. After the group ends, Miyamoto locks up normally. The culprit later returns and unlocks his lock, steals the figure, and restores the original lock to its rightful place.
There might be a few more complications, but that seems like the simplest solution. I guess the culprit would also have needed to hide his lock somewhere nearby before the session so it wouldn't be found when he was searched

SSNeoman posted:

Yeah they wouldn't need to search before.

Owner opens Original Lock
Culprit replaces the Original Lock with his Copy Lock
Steals figure
Shock. Horror.
After search, they leave, owner locks door with Copy Lock
Culprit runs away with figure
Later comes back when owner is away
Culprit unlocks Copy Lock and replaces it with Original Lock.
Leaves

Great detective work everyone. The next one won't be so easy. It's a locked room mystery. I'm extremely excited to get to it.

Yoshikawa: I want to make sure of something.
Yoshikawa: You said in Akasha, all events in the real world are written down, didn't you?
:Yama: Exactly
Yoshikawa: There are cases in the real world that are left unresolved and forgotten.
Yoshikawa Those records aswell?
:Yama: Of course even those are written down.
Yoshikawa: How are the Akasha written
Yoshikawa: Are you able to find culprits of unresolved cases?
:Yama: Akasha never give away the answer easily.

Keiji Takemoto has written a game called Lunacy for the Sega Saturn, I think that's the only english translated work he's written. I only looked at a tiny bit of footage of that game but it looks like something Retsuprae would make fun of...

Also this writer is a bit humorous in his narration, anything that's written under the illustrations is from the narration.

Chapter 1
An Unexpected Guest

December 10th.
It was morning and Amano Tsukasa was in great haste.
The day of of the trip to Korea the three friends had planned since a long ago.

It was decided that at 9:00 Kojima Tatsuo was to pick up Tsukasa by car.
Damning herself for not preparing beforehand, having kept putting it off, all the way up to the night before where she instead passed out at 10.
Even with having slept so early, maybe from all the fatigue building up, she woke up at 8! Face wash, make up, clothes, stuff bread in mouth, all while finishing up packing within the hour, it was worth self praise.

Out of breath she hops into the car.
"Wow. You actually wear skirts?
If only it was mostly teasing, but the expression was of actual surprise.
"The hell kind of person do you think I am?"
Tsukasa strongly puffs out her flat chest.

Thereafter, up next was Takahashi Ryouko.
They arrived at her apartment in 20 minutes. Tetsuo was kept waiting in the car.She presses the doorbell and, "Tsukasa? Come in." Is heard through the inter-phone. As Tsukasa was about to take of her shoes,
"Just wait there. It will only be a minute"

The dining kitchen continued to a room in the back, Ryouko with bread in her mouth was in the middle of a struggle with a carry bag. It seems she has the same procrastinating attitude aswell. Tsukasa couldn't help but give off an amused laugh.
"Sorry for making you wait. Let's get going!"

Tsukasa as if being chased out gets out, notices Ryouko who was following behind only shuts the door and heads for the car. "Ryouko, aren't you gonna lock it?"
"Oh. Yeah, that would be bad"
"You're such a scatterbrain"

After seeing the she properly locked it, they get in the car, then simply hightail it straight to the airport!
Fortunately there was no traffic detainment, and they safely board the plane to Korea

Kojima Tetsuo and Takahashi Ryouko were part of Tsukasa's club and friends in college, self proclaimed as the carnivore club. Naturally, the objective of this trip is of course, grilled meat. Only a glance of sightseeing. An itinerary of 3 nights and 4 days.

Ryouko can be described as either either audacious or maybe just a bit careless, she has times where she acts without thinking, but on the other hand in contrast Tetsuo is on the other side of that extreme and is much too cautious, and doesn't act without precise thinking. He was the one put in charge of being the guide for the trip.

As a matter of fact, Tsukasa and Ryouko are the only ones who don't know what awaits them. Those three had quite the adventure, but it has no relation to the story, so the details shall be omitted. Along the way of the frequent digressions, note that complaints like "There's no way I'm can hang out with you guys for the rest of my life" were made by Tetsuo.

"Not like I want I want to either"
With a nod Tetsuo says "I thought so" to Ryouko's retort, and adds, "Your boyfriend must be quie patient to deal with you"

The reason he added such a cynical remark is because Ryouko is half living together with her boyfriend, Sakuma Katsumi. Tsukasa has met him two or three times before, he works part time at a convenience store and is also a working as an amateur actor, he has a dainty and slim stature, but looks like he has youthful athletic vigor.

"Come to think of it, did your boyfriend say anything about the trip?" asks Tsukasa.
"Not really. He did say 'go eat your heart out'"
"How nice. You're so lucky. I wish I could have a boyfriend like that. Your last boyfriend really gave you some hardships, but now you seem full of happiness"

After saying that, Ryouko makes a frown and says,
"Actually recently, my ex, has been keeps saying he wants to get back together, it's a bit troubling"
"Huh, really?"

"He's annoying, when I didn't take his call he was waiting for me when I came home"
"I thought your ex had a girlfriend? Wait didn't they break up because of a change in heart?"

"'You're the only one for me, let's get back together and I'll break up with my girlfriend' he keeps telling me things like that. What a joke. It got so annoying so I bluntly told him to stop bothering me, but I don't know if that'll work. Ugh, guys really only think of themselves!"
To which Tetsuo immediately pouts, "Don't generalize us"

"So, does your current boyfriend know?"
"I haven't told Ka-chan anything about it yet,I wonder if I should?"
Tsukasa thinks with a hmmmm,
"If it all works itself out then you won't need to say anything, but just see how things turn out for a bit, if it continues I think you should have a discussion about it"
"Yeah. Thanks. I'll do that."
As Ryouko nods, that conversation ends.

Then on the 13th, they somehow got through the glutton trip safely, and all three of them return to Japan.
"You two should stop by at my place. I have some delicious chinese tea. It'll warm us up, and they say it has 7 times more fat burning effect than oolong tea"
To Ryouko's suggestion
"I'd appreciate it. I gotta burn all this somewhere."
Tetsuo while driving pats his stomach.

Ryouko's apartment was behind the next corner,A car quickly runs through the corner almost crashing with them, they become shocked. The car which was red, makes a big cut through the curb, and leaves without slowing down.
"What the hell. That was close"

Anyhow, they arrive somewhere around 4 in the afternoon. in a 3 story 9 apartment extremely generic building. They park the car in the resident use parking lot,
"ooh, burr"
While scrunching their sholders they hurry to the third room in the first floor.

"Ah. The delivery"
Ryouko takes the delivery attempt notice that was on her doorknob, and sticks her key in but,
"Huh?"
It goes clatter clatter many times and she tilts her head in confusion

"What's wrong?"
Tsukasa asks, as Ryouko opens the door,
"The door wasn't locked"
"Then did Katsumi-san stop by?"
"He shouldn't have at this time though"

She gives another look at the delivery attempt notice, enters inside and Ryouko says,
"Ka-chan?"
She calls inside.
Tsukasa and Tetsuo are both following behind.

She clicks on the lights, steps onto the floor boarded dining kitchen and stops there,
"Ka-chan....?"
Her voice sounded stiffened and held, making the other two look toward the back as they become startled.

The dining kitchen and western style room in the back are connected by the medium of a lintel, Which is one step lower. past that line, a dainty and slim man was lying down.
He was wearing a checkerboard pattern shirt and black pants. Laying face up, his upper body was turned slightly almost facing them, He fell down limp. His face, physique, there's no doubt that it's Sakuma Katsumi. However, his eyes are fully opened are leaden and murky, his skin turned into an unpleasant clay like color, it's clear that there was no shred of life in him.

(Please look up lintel or 鴨居 in google images for a better understainding, I don't know if it has any relation to the case, but the game keeps bringing it up.)

"No!"
Tetsuo goes past Tsukasa who was frozen, and quickly gets closer. Then touches the neck,
"It's cold. He's dead. No doubt about it."
He whispers with a shaky voice.

"Ka-chan!"
Ryouko lkmps closer as if she just got out of paralsys, and loudly cries and falls to her feet. Tetsuo switches with her, and calls the police with his cellphone
Tsukasa fearfully gets closer with a peciluar feeling she stares at the scene.

What happened? Why did this happen? As those rhetorical thoughts kept spinning around in her mind,
"There's blood on the back of his head. This wasn't sickness or suicide. He had to have been killed by someone."
With a low voice, Tetsuo whispers into her ear, and Tsukasa feels a sharp freeze on her back.

Yoshikawa:: Let's organize up to when the victim showed up. Shall we.
Marunouchi:: Going to a meat eating trip in Korea, aren't you high class...
Marunouchi:: You must have had some delicous chima jeogori there, huh
Yoshikawa:: Marunouchi-san, chima jeogori is korean fashion
Yoshikawa:: It has nothing to do with meat
Marunouchi:: A-Ahem! I'm talking about that!
Marunouchi:: Kochori! Certainly you had some delicious Kochori, right!
Yoshikawa:: ...Marunouchi-san, Kochori is made of vegetables
Yoshikawa:: It has no relation to meat
(God, I hope Tsukasa's impressed)
] Marunouchi:: Sa-Sangchu...
Yoshikawa:: That's vegetable aswell
[maru4]: ....
Yoshikawa::....
: Now let's get to analyzing the case, first the characters.
Tsukasa: Ah, he ran away from it.
[maru]: First, the 3 who are in the carnivore club, Ryouko Takahashi, Kojima Tetsuo, and Amano Tsukasa-kun
[maru]: The victim's name is Sakuma Katsumi.
Tsukasa: Ryouko's boyfriend.
Yoshikawa:: Sakuma Katsumi died in Takahashi Ryouko's appartment...
Yoshikawa:: Takahashi Ryouko's room was, certainly...
(Game gives a dumb quiz)
Yoshikawa:: on the first floor third room.
Tsukasa: Yes, the building is three stories tall and they each have three rooms.
Yoshikawa:: You guys arrived at the apartment at 4 in the afternoon.
Yoshikawa:: The room was open, with a delivery attempt notice on the doorknob
Tsukasa: Before that, we almost crashed with a red car...
Yoshikawa:: Does that car have any relation to the case?
Tsukasa: Yeah
Tsukasa: You'll see if you read the rest
Yoshikawa:: I see... Well let's read the rest.

Chapter 2
The Suspects

The investigators arrive, among them was a conspicuously ill mannered detective, "What? You again!?" He raises his deep voice.
"Ah, Detective Marunouchi-san!"
"Now I wonder why you're here."
"Yeah, about that...."

Tsukasa and Tetsuo give an explanation,
"...That's about it. Of course I'm not the culprit, kay."
As she adds the last part, Detective Marunouchi strongly knits his disheveled brow and says, "verdicts come after the investigation!" with a rough voice.
"But even so..." The policeman mutters while looking over scene of the crime in the western room.

Let's explain the state of the scene once more.
In front of the concrete entrance there is a six tatami mat size dining room in there is a table with 4 chairs. There is also a bathroom and shower lined close by the entrance.
Past the dining kitchen is a 6 tatami mat sized western room, connected by a one step lower lintel.

The western room has cork flooring, looking from the kitchen side, there is a window going down to the fllor on the front, on the right side there is a door to the bedroom, in the middle is a low steel made table placed there. There are three bookshelves in that room, on the left wall is a sliding door type, ones with a glass door on them are lined up, and one for book collecting with a shallow depth, placed next to the door on the right wall.

Furthermore, There are even fixed shelves built ontop of the lintel on both sides. However all that's stored in them are slightly less ammount of books, and a large amount of stuffed toys
Of the stuffed toysmost of them are of a character styled lesser panda. There are around 200 of them varying in size and placed all over the three shelves. Them sorrounding a dead body made for a surreal sight.

Diagram of the apartment

Although it's hard to be certain since there is a small amount of blood, there is a depression on the back of the head thought to be caused by a blunt object, even without a detailed autopsy, it has been declared that the immediate cause of death is due to cerebral contusion.
The biggest problem being time of death, upon Marunouchi asking the old white coated examiner about that matter, he answers "It's around 2 or maybe 4 days after death'

"That quite a big gap"
To Tsukasa's comment from the side Marunouchi's face scrunches and says, "You don't need to know", but could it be that the old examiner likes talking, or he's fond of young girls, he says, "To be sure we just need to wait for a more detailed autopsy. However, seeing as how rigor mortis has thouroughly relaxed, there's no doubt that 2 days have passed after death

Now, we're at the halfway point in the Akasha... I'll stop here.
My current theory is that the murderer used a trick using rigor mortis to their advantage. I don't really even know how it probobly just has something to do with it...
My money is on Takahashi being the killer. Having an alibi while you're in a different country sounds too good to be true, I feel like the game would pull something like that.
They introduce other suspects later, but their motives are much too generic, they feel like red herrings to distract us.
Please let me know what you guys think happened.

The door thing is indeed confusing. The more I read it, the more I begin to think there's an accomplice. The red car definitely has to be related.
By the way, my rigor mortise theory is a bit different.
Look at the diagram closely and keep rigor mortise in mind. I don't want to reveal my theory fully just yet.

"Rigor mortise is relaxed?"
"Yes. At first the corpse is limp, however after death in two or three hours it begins to harden, in 6 to 8 hours rigor mortise spreads through the whole body, between 12 to 15 hours is the most stiff. And now, it's instead limber, after two days stiffness completely dissipates."

"That means the time of the crime had to have been committed sometime before the 11th afternoon. So then, could it be the maximum amount of time is 4 days?"
(I don't know who said the last quote, the writer didn't stay, I'm assuming it's Tsukasa)
Marunouchi looking like he's about to go in a fit of rage, next to the ever smiling old examiner,

"Lookee here. You see sleeping beauty's neck has a greenish brown mesh starting to show. Along the veins, decomposition is spreading throughout the body. We call this marbling, it appears on a dead body about 2, or 3 days, however looking at the color, spreading, and taking the season into account, it's been no more than 4 days since death"
"I see"

"Hey old man. Talking with civies about investigation info is-"
To the detective's advice, the examiner says, "Ah my bad, my bad" and knocks his head.
Additionally, because the temperature at which the body was left in is innacurate, it would be difficult to whittle down the correct time, in the end, the time of death gap was not reduced.

Also, it's undetermined whether the place of murder was in the same room, or carried form outside because there was such a low amount of bleeding. By the way, Katsumi was someone who had many pairs of shoes, what kind of shoes he was wearing when he returned here, or if he was carried here after death, if so was he wearing shoes then? It seems Ryouko dosen't know.
(Sorry for the weird grammar. The sentence is hard for me to understand in Japanese)

Sakuma Katsumi's actions before the crime was investigated.
Katsumi and Ryouko half living together was already written before, but Katsumi himself has his own apartment one station over. According to Ryouko, in the 9th at 8 in the evening he came to her room, the same night sometime before 12 he went back home, but that was the last time she saw him.

Going by someone else, he had a convenience store shift in the 9th where he was off at 7pm, according to a third party that's the last time they saw him. Gone one day, then on the 11th he had a shift as well, but he never showed up, his cellphone maybe due to a dead battery caused it to not be reachable when calling, he was listed as AWOL. The angry manager fired him on the spot apparently.

Moreover, many friends and theater classmates tried calling him, but they couldn't reach him after all, no e-mail response either. His cellphone could not be found at the scene or in his room.
Going by the above-mentioned, the last one to confirm Katsumi's welfare is Ryouko, going by her word, the time of death can be between the 10th at 12am to the 11th at 4 pm.

All 3 girls' flight records were checked, there are no traces of anyone sneaking back to Japan behind everyone else's back. By Tsukasa's point of view, they were all together, there was no accommodation for a trip late at night either, and seeing as how Ryouko was staying in the same room as Tsukasa's, her Alibi is nothing short of perfect.
page 47
The delivery attempt notice was investigated aswell, the mailman came in the 12th at 4pm, he rang the doorbell but no one showed up so a notice was placed, at that time, there was no confirmation about whether or not the door was locked

Moreover, the one the police focused interrogation on was Ryouko's ex boyfriend.
His name was Tadokoro Youtarou. His main occupation is being a student,as well ashelping his friend's event related service company which he established. He's currently dating Hanai Kazumi, a woman who works in department store. Ryouko's second apartment key was given back to her when they broke up but, it's not impossible for a duplicate to have been made.

When asked by the police, he admitted to wanting to get back together with Ryouko but, he called the accusations of him killing Katsumi as absurd.
Because of the wide gap, he has no alibi. Because it's like that for everyone, him being suspected comes from a motive standpoint.

Even with that motive, another that stood out was, a fellow theater troupe group member, someone as young as Katsumi, Isaki Ryouma. Him and were frequently at each others throats when it came to plays. Also, Katsumi was given the part of a big role recently, that could probably lead to his major debut, but from the shadows Isaki was very much jealous of that it seems.

Tsukasa hears these prior events 2 days after the body discovery, the 15th, when Tsukasa and Tetsuo went to go visit Ryouko, where they found a young detective.

About when he was done talking, Marunouchi arrived late,
"Were you just talking about information relating to investigation?"
"No, uh, was I not supposed to?"
"Of course you aren't supposed to! drat, all these idiots don't know when to shut up!"
He let's his anger out.

"No big deal. More importantly, now that we have names, which one of them had a license?"
Tsukasa asks,
"License?"
As Marunouchi frowns, the young detective answers,
"I don't recall either Tadokoro Youtarou or Isaki Ryouma having a license"
He once again displays his loose lips, causing Marunouchi to get riled up.

"So what about it!"
"Knowing weather or not he was killed here is kind of important. If the body was carried here after he was killed, then it would be difficult without a car, wouldn't it? So the culprit must have a license, I think... But none of them have a license"
Tsukasa looked a bit disappointed.

"That's only if they carried the body inside."
"So the scene of the crime really is here? If so, the most suspicious one is Tadokoro-san. He snuck here not knowing Ryouko was gone, he just happens to see Katsumi, or maybe that was his goal all along? Either way the biggest obstacle preventing him from getting back together was Katsumi's existence..."

As Tsukasa says that, next to her Ryouko dejectedly hangs her head.
"Oh, I'm sorry. That was insensitive of me."
She smacks her head, then,
"Now that you mention it, Hanai Katsumi had a license, didn't she?"
The young detective mutters, Tsukasa turns around with an "Eh?".
"Hanai Kazumi is Tadokoro-san's girlfriend, right? But..."

After a bit of thinking,
"Do you know what kind of car she has?"
"I saw it actually. Uhh it was a red station wagon."
"Just like that car!"
Tetsuo blurted out before Tsukasa could.

Bewildered by this new development, they explain to Marunouchi about the car which almost crashed into them,
"You say that was a station wagon aswell? We'll have someone confirm that, but still, why would it be Hanai Kazumi? If she has a reason sure, but why kill Sakuma Katsumi? She wouldn't have a reason for that, and on top of purposefully carrying the body here on purpose. That's ridiculous!"

However Tsukasa does not yield to that argument,
"You see, in order to get rid of her love rival, Ryouko, she kills Katsumi-san. This pins the crime on Ryouko. Of course Hanai Kazumi didn't know about the trip, so this is her worst dream come true"
(Is killing your love rival's significant other a thing love rivals do? What are you basing this on Tsukasa? You dumb loving teenager)
Marunouchi had no words to counter that argument.

""Ah, I see. Makes sense. If you put it that way I could understand it."
Said the young detective while clapping as if speaking from the heart. Trying to say something to the young detective, Marunouchi only flapped his mouth.
"Well then I'll go and gather the evidence we need!"

His feet footwork is as fast as he talks, he briskly runs out. Then, in no more than 30 minutes he returned.
"Bingo! She was here, just like you said. Of course, she denied the murder. When she knew Tadokoro wanted to get back with Ryouko, she says she went to go settle things directly with Ryouko, she rang the doorbell a couple of times, but there was no response, so she left home all frustrated."

That's when Tetsuo tilts his head with a "Huh?",
"She only rang the chime? If she was so angry, wouldn't she at least try to open the door?"
The young detective remembers with a "Ummm" and,
"Ah right. She tried opening the doorknob but it didn't open"

"That's odd. When we got back, the door wasn't locked. When we crossed paths it wasn't even 5 minutes until we got to the door. Did someone open the door in that smal amount of time, because if not she has to be lying"

Tsukasa seconds Tetsuo's indication.
"I thought so! You're very intuitive aren't you Tsukasa-chan! So, now our most likely suspect is Hanai Kazumi isn't it?"

Marunouchi speaks out, raising his voice like a growling bulldog,
"Hmph, so there's a possibility he was killed somewhere else. Good grief, they sure like to play with smoke and mirrors. Hey Karube. I want the range of investigation increased! And get me a report on exactly what Hanai Kazumi was doing!"

Hearing his name, Tsukasa was in the verge of bursting into laughter, but the detective dosen't notice,
"ay ay, sir!"
He bids farewell and once again dashes off, at that time he passes by another lanky detective who enters the scene.
(Karube basically means lowly pawn)

"We've gotten an important testimony. It seems they heard something heavy hit the wall, which made a loud sound, on the early morning of the 11th, it was at 2:00AM."
"What? The morning of the 11th? Why are we getting the testimony now?"

"Very sorry. It was from next-door room 102 where a high school girl stays, she left the day before yesterday and didn't return until late last night, so we couldn't get in touch with her until today. Apparently she was out walking around town"
"It's within the range of time of death. Does this mean the murder happened at that time?!"

Next to Marunouchi, Tsukasa suddenly stands up and says,
"Hmmm. So, is Kazumi innocent...?"
"Just as I thought! Jeez, drat amateur dosen't know what she's doing"
"Seriously? Even though you got it into your head aswel, mister detective."
"Shut up! Don't get smart with me or I'll bust you!"
"You're crazy !"

Tsukasa hangs her head,
"Don't worry about it. That's life. All you can do is get back up."
She was more surprised than irritated seeing detective Karube speaking out so carefree and shamelessly.
(I wonder what she noticed?)

Ok, I've put together a very rough timeline cause all the dates and stuff were confusing me

The lines indicate the "2-4 days" window of time that Katsumi could've been killed in. I could be mistaken about some things, but I think it's pretty much accurate. And looking at it now, my Ryouko theory still works.
I think the loud thud the neighbour heard may not have been the actual murder. I think it may have been the rigor mortis wearing off :ssh: (speculation spoilered out of courtesy, I may be super wrong)

Yeah, everything is pointing to her(almost too much). I think it's weird how the neighbor heard a sound on the wall though, but the next chapter is about a contradictory testimony so who knows.
And I wonder when the title of the book of there not being light comes into play.
And where/how was he killed? Altough the game likes to ommit details like these unfortunately...
I don't like it when we have an obvious culprit, I really hope there's a bigger twist.

I really hope I can wrap it up faster than last time.

Chapter 3 A Contradictory Testimony

Taking a shortcut through digression, Tadokoro Youtarou returns to the most likely culprit spot.
Regarding the account of between the night of the 10th and the morning of the 11th, he testifies that he was in his house the whole time after getting off work at 7 in the afternoon.

But when pressed for more details, it resulted in a different story, he testifies that he was actually hanging around the scene. Because he didn't know about Ryouko's trip, he was waiting for her to come home and have a talk with her.

Tsukasa of course heard this from none other than detective Karube. Marunouchi showed up in the middle of that and groans angrily as he shoves his hands to his own face

"And then? And then?"
"I asked him, 'So couldn't see her after all, but you saw Sakuma Katsumi, and that's when you killed him?' but he firmly denied it. Tadokoro says, From 6pm or 8pm he was waiting for her on her route back home, a bit farther from here. After that he was waiting close to the aprtment until 3am and keeping watch of this apartment room.

During that whole time Sakuma Katsumi never showed up, he also says he wouldn't sneak sneak inside the room"

Tsukasa tilts her head
"So while Ryouko was gone, Katsumi never came here while Tadokoro was keeping watch, was the light turned off the whole time?"
"Yeah. That's what Tadokoro says. At least until 3am, the room was dark the whole time

"What about sound. That sound they heard at 2am, what about that?"
"I tried to sound him out for that but, he says he didn't hear a single thing the whole time. Well it could be that from where he was, he couldn't here the sound, because if he did hear something it would mean someone was there"

Tsukasa while organizing her thoughts says,
"But isn't that odd? That during the time of Katsumi's murder, for at least 6 hours no one entered the room, and the light was off the whole time, and apparently that's when the crime took place"

Marunouchi interrupts
"Of course it's odd. Because that means Tadokoro's testimony is a lie!"
"Actually, what is Hanai Kazumi's testimony after that?"
"It hasn't changed. She came here, she rang the doorbell, and insists the door was locked"

Marunouchi becomes more angry
"They all have no good things to say!"

He looked like he was on the verge of losing his temper, but Tsukasa was too focused on her own deductions to notice
"But, if Tadokoro just thought a bit, wouldn't he notice that his testimony is odd? If so, why say that testimony?"

"If he were to say he happened to see a third party, or that the light came on, there may be a contradiction somewhere else. If he were to just say it was dark the whole time, then there would be less faults to come out"

"But why not just say he left home at 2 or 1? Then there wouldn't be any contradictions, why testify that he was there until 3?"
"I see!" Karube says impressed, and Marunouchi scratches his head,
"Tsukasa, what are you trying to do?! Is Tadokoro suspicious or not?"

"All I'm interested is in the truth"
Tsukasa tried to show how she feels, but it seems she only worsened his temper,
"Enough, I don't buy it! It's suspicious! You keep trying to get info, and saying things to throw off the investigation. I see, so it's you is it? Are you behind it all?"

She doesn't understand what's making him say that.
"Don't be ridiculous! Don't you know we have a perfect alibi?"
"That was your aim from the beginning, wasn't it? It has to be. This would all be easy with an accomplice. I've heard of people hiring murderers on the net recently"

When Marunouchi gets an idea he's the type to keep going with it,
"Hm. There's no doubt. You're motive was romance. You were actually dating Sakuma Katsumi weren't you?"
"Those are all complete delusions. You say I was trying to get info, but Karube is the one who blurted it out."

"Enough. Now hurry and confess already!"
Even his eyes have turned into a different color.
"Wh-What"
Just how could you counter crazy arguments like this? This has to be harder than trying to convince the judge of a witch trial. Without being able to think, she was in the biggest pinch of her life on the verge of tears.

However, at this time, all the data in order to reach the truth of the matter is laid out as of now.

Marunouchi: Yeah
Yoshikawa: Let's confirm the parts that seem important

Yoshikawa:Going by the inspection, it was presumed to be 2 to 4 days after death
Yoshi:: The presumed time being between 12/9 4pm and 12/11 4pm.
Marunouchi: And we also have a testimony that whitles down the time of death, remeber?
Yoshi:: The neighbor high schooler's testimony, right
Yoshi:: They heard something heavy hit the wall is what they say
Yoshi:: Certainly the time they heard it was on...
Question: When did the highschooler hear the sound
1. 12/9 at 2am
2. 12/10 at 2 am
3. 12/11 at 2 am
(I picked 2 at first then this happens)
Marunouchi: Hey, what are you saying
Marunouchi: Did you read the akasha carefully?
Yoshikawa: Uhh... I meant to but...
Marunouchi: It's an important testimony
Marunouchi: The neighbor heard the sound at 12/11 2am
Yoshikawa: Oh, yeah it was...
Marunouchi: The victim's time of death concurs with the testimony
Marunouchi: It's possible the crime took place at that time
Tsukasa: But going by Tadokoro's testimony of him keeping an eye on the room...
Tsukasa: The room was dark the whole time, wasn't it?
Tsukasa: Hmmmm.....
Yoshi:: Did the culprit carry out the crime in the dark through a certain method?....
Yoshi:: Or is Tadokoro Youtarou the culprit, and he lied about the room being dark?
Yoshi:: Or, could it be that he was killed, and carried into the apartment?...
Yoshi:: Or maybe....
Yoshi:: Well, let's begin the deduction.
(Here are the questions that need to be answered.)

"The door wasn't locked"
Insists the door was locked
These two react and make a mystery titled "When was the crime scene unlocked"
Then that mystery reacts with It goes clatter clatter many times and she tilts her head in confusion

and forms this epiphany
Sound effect: https://clyp.it/fekqxyjl

Then a conversation happens

: When Ryouko returns home, she inserts the keys and it clatters
: Maybe the crime scene was unlocked at that time
: It's possible Ryouko unlocked it herself, and lied that it was already unlocked
: No way. What would she lie about that for?
: I can't tell why she would, as of now.

The room was dark the whole time
He says he didn't hear a single thing the whole time

Those two make a mystery that asks "Was the light truly off?"
And also I put That sound they heard at 2am
Which makes a mystery titled "From where did something fall from" and gives variants like something fell from above, and something was thrown into the scene

Fixed shelves built on top of the lintel on both sides
After two days stiffness completely dissipates
He fell down limp
Something heavy hit the wall, which made a loud sound

fell down and something heavy makes a mystery questioning if that was when he was killed by blunt object

stiffness dissipates and something heavy hit the wall makes a mystery questioning if the sound that was heard happened at the same time that rigor mortise wore off, then what was the sound?
: If that sound in the 11th has something to do with rigor mortis...
Yoshikawa: Then the sound had to be "that"
Tsukasa: What do you mean by "that"?
Yoshikawa: If the time of the sound and rigor mortis wearing off are the same then that naturally means...?
That mystery combines with fell down limp and makes this epiphany, which is the same color we need to answer one of the questions.

We just need one more red epiphany and I think we should be good.
Fixed shelves didn't react to anything, so we need to find something to combine that with.

(I want to add that each story is only supposed to take like 30 minutes to complete each. just to let you know how slow I am at translating)

Sorry for the delay.
I've actually been playing Ace Attorney instead, and I think I like it better than this, I'm thinking about doing a daigyakuten LP instead. This game just feels like sony's attempt at Ace Attorney

I'm going to try and go through this game really fast, skipping non important dialog from now on.

We need to combine the mystery From where did something fall from and Fixed shelves built on top of the lintel on both sides and gives us this red epiphany

Skipping ahead to the verification where we explain this to Tsukasa;
Music: https://clyp.it/0bpwa0kj
Yoshikawa: Think back to when the body was first discovered
Yoshikawa: The body was lying in the area where the dining kitchen and living room meet
Yoshikawa: There were shelves above the body on the lintel
Yoshikawa: It's natural to think that's where he fell from
] Tsukasa:: B,But, why would a dead body fall from the lintel?
Yoshikawa: Because the culprit put it there, of course
Marunouchi:: Why store it there? It's in plain sight isn't it?
Marunouchi:: Moreover, it fell you say? So the culprit made it fall?
Yoshikawa: No, when the room was dark the culprit should not have been there
Yoshikawa: The corpse fell by itself
Tsukasa:: Was there an earthquake
(Skip through some dumb dialog)
Yoshikawa: It was made to fall. Remember this epiphany

Yoshikawa: The culprit used rigor mortis to their advantage this way...
Yoshikawa: If the body is stiff, they place the head and feet on the shelf, which holds it up

(Is rigor mortis even that strong? It's just hardened blood isn't it?)
Marunouchi: But, no matter how lanky the victim was, would they be able to lift them up by themselves?
Yoshikawa: There was a steel table in the living room and chairs in the dining room
Yoshikawa: Using those, you can lift it little by little
(No budget to actually show this)
Yoshikawa: And if the body is left like this...
Yoshikawa: The stiff body gradually becomes softer

Yoshikawa: The body bends and slips through the gap
Yoshikawa: Lastly it makes a loud sound and falls to the floor

Yoshikawa: The culprit, in order to deceive the time of the crime used rigor mortis to make a timing trick
Marunouchi:]: Wait! If rigor mortis was relaxed on the 11th then that means...
Marunouchi:: Thinking backwards will tell us when he actually died!
Yoshikawa: Correct.
Yoshikawa: Corpses become softer after the hardest point in 12 to 15 hours
Yoshikawa: It has to have been 2 days
Yoshikawa: Basically, going by the testimonies....
Yoshikawa: The time of death has to be between the 9th 7PM and the 10th 11AM.
Tsukasa:: Before the 10th 11AM...
Marunouchi:: Basically he could have been killed before Tsukasa and the others left on the trip
Marunouchi:: Meaning you're now part of the jolly group of suspects
Tsukasa: It's not jolly!
Yoshikawa: Well, let's sum up the results of the verification up till now
(How about no?)
Tsukasa:: So Katsumi didn't visit Ryouko's room after all...
Tsukasa:: He was already dead, and in the room the whole time...
Marunouchi:]: But, when did the culprit put the body up there?
Marunouchi:]: Surely there are people with or without an alibi concerning that
Yoshikawa: When exactly did they put the body there...
Yoshikawa: When you think about the scene's door being locked you would realize.
Tsukasa:: The scene's door being locked
Marunouchi:: There was a contradiction about wether the door was locked or not wasn't there?
Yoshikawa: When Ryouko went to the trip, she locked the apartment room.
Yoshikawa: Tsukasa confrimed it so there is no doubt
Yoshikawa: So then, after that, if they wanted to put the body on top of the shelf they would have to open the door
Yoshikawa: Well then, when was to scene's door opened
Music: https://clyp.it/gskwwjlg
Yoshikawa talks about the possibilities until we get to this epiphany

Tsukasa:: The door was locked...?
Tsukasa:: But, why would she lie about...
Yoshikawa: You will see why she lied about it, soon.
Yoshikawa: What you should think about is the part where the lock wasn't opened until she returned
Yoshikawa: If they can't open the door, they they can't put a body in there
Yoshikawa: Basically... The body was placed there before Takahashi Ryouko left for the trip
Tsukasa: What, no way...! Ryouko would notice that.
Marunouchi:]: Hm... It would be odd if they didn't notice someone laying on top of a shelf
Yoshikawa: But of course.
Tsukasa:: So...?
Tsukasa: What do you mean? Yoshikawa-san
Yoshikawa: ... Well, it's about time I say it
Yoshikawa: Who is the culprit?
Music: https://clyp.it/v1gia0gs
Yoshikawa: Ryoko left for the trip on the 10th 9:20AM
Yoshikawa: No one else could have entered the room
Yoshikawa: In order to use rigor mortis to their advantage, they had to have put the body up there before this time

Music: https://clyp.it/3um1i2dn
Tsukasa::....
Tsukasa:: That's.... A lie... Ryouko can't be the culprit...
Yoshikawa: It's unfortunate but there is no other answer
Tsukasa:: But... It's odd
Tsukasa:: Because Sakuma died in Ryouko's room
Tsukasa:: If a body is found in her room, she would be held suspect
Tsukasa:: No one would take that kind of risk
Yoshikawa: However in reality there were no suspicions on her
Yoshikawa: Isn't that right?
Yoshikawa: Neither you nor Marunouchi suspected her once.
Tsukasa:: ...That's...
Yoshikawa: I don't know the exact reason making her own room the scene of the crime
Yoshikawa: Maybe she planned it from the start
Yoshikawa: Maybe she killed him accidentally, and thought of a way to hide it...
Yoshikawa: Whatever the case she very well knew
Yoshikawa: That if a body was found in her room, it would be dangerous
Yoshikawa: That's why she needed to make a strong alibi to make her not suspected
Yoshikawa: First before going to the trip
Yoshikawa: She brings you inside to make you think there isn't a dead body
Yoshikawa: Next she brings you both inside to treat you to tea
Yoshikawa: That's when she tricks you to thinking the door was opened, and shows you the dead body
Yoshikawa: With this she there are no suspicions on her, and you're made to think someone else did it
Yoshikawa: She used you for her own alibi
Yoshikawa: Not once but twice
(She also killed your dog)
Tsukasa:: That's....
(Why can't anime girls finish their sentences?)
Yoshikawa: She wanted to make it so the suspicons would not be whittled down as much as possible in order to make it seem like anyone could have done it...
Yoshikawa: She knew that was necessary
Tsukasa:: ......
Yoshikawa: That's all I know.
Yoshikawa: If you can't accept it then go back to the real world and re examine it
Yoshikawa: I'll leave the rest to you and the police
Tsukasa:: ...Okay
Tsukasa:: Thanks... for your help

Go home anime girl
Music: https://clyp.it/eijlspce
Marunouchi: Hm... This is a bit of a pity
Marunouchi: Having your friend be the culprit isn't a conclusion you'd want to believe
Marunouchi:: And on top of it all, being used for an alibi...
Yoshikawa: True...
Yoshikawa: But, in a certain sense, you could say Takahashi Ryouko believed in her and Kojima Tetsuo
Yoshikawa: Because they trusted her and didn't suspect her is why Takahashi Ryouko believed in them
Yoshikawa: That may be the reason she used only them for a vital alibi.
Marunouchi:]: That's quite an ironic friendship
Marunouchi:]: Humans sometimes use the fortune of trust for evil, is that what you're trying to say...
Marunouchi:: Still, why did Ryouko kill Sakuma Katsumi after all
Yoshikawa: Who knows, that kind of thing is...
Marunouchi:: Either one of their love ended, or they fought over something trivial, and couldn't take it anymore...
Marunouchi:: Well, there's many possibilities... I'll have to ask her myself
Marunouchi:: Now, It's time I excuse myself
Marunouchi:: I'm not looking foward to all the clean up, but this is work
Marunouchi:: Yoshikawa-kun, I appreciate your co operation with the investigation

Yama:: Another case with her huh?
Yama:: She just can't catch a break from misfortune
Yoshikawa: There should be many other Akasha
Yoshikawa: Why am I in charge of cases with her?
Yama:: It's just a coincidence
Yama:: It just so happened that I couldn't solve this akasha
Yoshikawa: Even so it's quite curious
Yoshikawa: Right on the heels of yesterday another case involving her occurs
Yama:: It was not yesterday
Yoshikawa makes this face while Yama is talking.
I'm not even going to resize it because it's so perfect

Yama:: Since that last and this case, half a month has gone by
Yama:: Your world and this one pass through time differently
Yama:: One day here is half a month over there
Yoshikawa: Even so, I don't think she will get caught up in another one withing half a month
Yama:: There are misfortunate humans like that
Yama:: But aren't you glad?
Yama:: Work is easier with someone you know
: I don't feel like they're helping very much though...
Yoshikawa: It might be better with just me and the Akasha
Yama:: It's not very common for the same people to be involved in another case
Yama:: There probably won't be another Akasha concerning her again
Yoshikawa: I hope so
Yama:: But if you and her have some sort of fate, there might just be another one
Yoshikawa: That's not a very happy fate
Yama:: Fate is fate
Yama:: It's netither happy or unhappy
Yama:: I myself think a relationship mediated by murder mystery is quite interesting
Yoshikawa: .....
Yama:: Well then I should get to looking for another one
Yama:: By the way, what kind of girl is to your liking?
Yoshikawa: Huh?
Yama:: I myself adore girls that look good in short hair and jeans
Yama:: What about you?
Yoshikawa: ....Well, that's not bad
Yama:: Great, I'll chose an article having that type of girl
Yama: Look foward to it.
I can't do the trailer, I don't want to subscribe to premiere pro and after effects again

A murder case occurred in winter at a girl's dormitory.
The one who was killed was the college student staying in room 206.
The victim died with their index finger pointed out.
It seems she tried to write something with blood, but that part of the floor was cut and taken off, it's unknown what the message was....
Is the message that was cut off a clue to the culprit, or maybe something else?

What was the message that was cut off?

Chapter 1
Janurary, 21st, Saturday
11:30PM

A lone taxi stops in front of "The Great Swan Cottage" when night was deepening.
"Senpai! It's just a bit more. Please hang in there."
Tsukasa with great pull, somehow carries Nìtsuru Chiemi who is covered in a stench of alcohol out of the taxi.
"I got it already. I'm perfectly fine, look"

However, Chiemi was dead drunk with unsteady feet, had Tsukasa not lent her shoulder, she would certainly fall where she stands.
Around the area it seems more snow had piled than there was before. Falling here would undoubtedly cause you to freeze immediately.
(I smell a freeze trick)

"Look the door is right there"
The distance from the gate to door is but only about a dozen meters. Warm light flows from the door, there will be no freezing to death here. Tsukasa desperately tries her best to move forward, yet she doesn't progress so well.

It may be caused by her own drunkness, however Chiemi is much too heavy. If "heavy" were to be said that may indict Chiemi's rage. It is not that she is fat, actually she is quite slender. It's that she has a large stature close to 6 feet, the body of a profesionall ballet dancer. Actually large stature itself may induce her rage. Let's just say she's tall.

"I'll have you couph up the cab fare later, you hear?"
She hits her with complaints all of a sudden.
"I got it already"
She rests her jaw on Tsukasa's head, tottering from side to side like a Yajirobè, Chiemi keeps repeating her empty promises.

(A Yajirobè is a balance toy in Japan that distributes all it's weight in one tiny point)

(I'm sure the trick will involve something like this)

But surely when tomorrow arrives she will forget. No doubt. "Ah, If only I've gotten a receipt" Tsukasa regrets to herself.
Normaly she's a hit with the guys and always spruce, A short haired senpai who looks good in jeans, yet why did it come to this... Call it strange, but Tsukasa was deeply dissapointed.

She may be a bit rough around the edges, But she has a good head on her sholders, has a great personality, her looks are on point. She's a triple threat. Her only weak point worth saying is her relationships with men. She has no descerning eye, and always ends up in horrible break ups. This time she was dumped by her boyfried that she was going out with for 4 months. Tsukasa was violently dragged to drink with her. This is actually a continuation of last evening, their second time drinking.

Yesterday night she didn't want to go back home, after heavy drinking at the bar she passed out drunk on Tsukasa's room floor. Late in the afternoon when Tsukasa though she finally woke up, she heads to the fridge and empties numerous beer cans, giving Tsukasa no choice but to deal with her, when night comes just like yesterday she barhops the town in abandonment. At that time the same grumbles were repeated tens, hundreds of times.

The ex boyfriend, actually had 2 other girlfriends, "It's not healthy for me to keep doing this, I'm leaving you and keeping the others" Chiemi kept repeating that horrible breakup story. The worst part is that Chiemi fell in love with him saying he would be a good life partner.

"That means there's two girls higher up than me? And why is he saying it so bluntly? Like you're Japanese, aren't you supposed to be more reserved?

I'll have to cut it off here.
I'll try to update with 10 pages a day.
Again sorry for being so slow. If I could I would do an Akasha a day.

Chiemi complains while slamming the beer mug on the table. This may be a heavy story, but when Tsukasa was made to join her in sorrow drinking, it wasn't as bad as this, they were all good for nothing men. You could say Chiemi's eyes are working against her, it's the only thing Tsukasa has over her.

To Tsukasa Chiemi is an adult figure to her, who always gives Tsukasa advice when she needs help. Of course that makes Tsukasa want to help Chiemi in her times of need, so she joined her. But if it keeps going on like this, then her stress levels may go through the roof. Today she was able to somehow convince Chiemi senpai to bring her to her residence, the Great Swan.

They finally arrive to their destination, the front entrance. A trip that should take only seconds instead lasted minutes. As soon as they get there Chiemi hits her forehead on the door with a great thud.
"Are you okay?"
"It's okay, all I saw was the crab nebula"
She goes heheh, with an untidy smile.

Tsukasa had never drunk that much before, she shudders at the thought of becoming that way.
Chiemi takes out the key from her bag, then trying many times to open it with a trembling hand. Seeing that sluggish sight made Tsukasa want to grab it and do it herself.
The door finally opens, and the dazzling light of the entrance hall shines upon them.

"We're finally here"
Chiemi tries to sit there. Tsukasa frantically tries to help her up.
"You can't sleep here. There's still a ways to go to get to your room. So come on, take off your shoes."
Just endure a bit more, Tsukasa thinks to herself as she pulls her by the arm.

The Great Swan has a stylish two story western outward appearance, a private female dormitory, all the residents attend the nerby college. They share the same entrance and it's in the stlye of taking off shoes and changing into slippers.
The entrance hall is affixed with pure white cloth, past it is a corridor and stairs. The corridor goes straight down leading to the various rooms in the first floor. The stairs lead to the first floor.

There are three rooms in the first floor, 6 rooms in the second floor making it 9 in total, At the moment there are only 7 residents. Even though it's a dorm, each room has their own kitchen, bath and bathroom, which makes it no different from a student apartment. However on the first floor there is a relatevly large lounge area, where residents can interact in.

This lounge is the selling point of the Great Swan, it's popular among parents who are worried about sending their daughters to a solitary life in Tokyo. However parent's and children's anticipations not being the same is a fact of life, there are many who find cohabitation troublesome. It hasn't even been half a fiscal year with two newcomers already moved out.

"I guess weirdos are the only ones who stay here"
Is what Chiemi grumbled in the past, blind to her own shortcomings. Tsukasa, for a reason similar to today has been here once before, she knows Chiemi's room is the one in the back in room 103, but has not yet met any other resident.

Here is a diagram of the dorm
I can't translate the names of the other rooms because the game hasn't told me how they're pronounced. Refer back to it when we meet the other characters. Though I hope we don't have to keep track of 6 more characters.

"Senpai. Just a bit more, I'm begging you."
It may have been from relief, but Chiemi is collapsed in the doorway, and will not move. There may be heating in the entrance hall and the hallway corridors so she most likely would not die from freezing. But that is no reason to leave raw trash in the common living space.
(Who the gently caress is this narrator?)

While Tsukasa is in the thick of things,
"What is it this time, Chiemi. Layin' on the floor like that. Drinkin' again?"
From behind her a shrilly kansai accent voice comes from the stairs, coupled with steps coming down. When Tsukasa turns around, she sees a woman standing there doning a yellow padded Kimono. She must be a resident.

She is addressing Chiemi in such a manner, she must either be the same year or an upperclassman. She is about the same height as Chiemi. Tanned with defined facial features. Creating a mismatch with her straght distinctive violet died hair, making for quite a funky look.

"Ah, Mari? I would never. I was just resting"
Chiemi pouts with her bluffs. However Mari sadistically narrows her eyes, and says
"Resting, huh? It looks to me like you're causing that girl nothing but trouble"

"Hi, nice to meet you." Tsukasa gives an embarrassed greeting. "My name is Amano Tsukasa"
"Tsukasa is it? It must be tough. Well take care of her for me. It's probably heartbreak again. I'd rather not be the one dealing with going drinking, hang in there Tsukasa."

As Mari briskly tries going back up the stairs as if nothing happened. This isn't good.
"I'm sorry. It looks like she's too much for me, could you help me?
At least until we get her to the room? It wouldn't be good for others if we're held up on the entrance."

"Jeez, I guess. Chiemi is pretty dang heavy, you wouldn't be able to do it by just yourself"
Giving a fed up kind of vibe she sulks her shoulders, and roughly tugs at Chiemi's other arm.

"Don't call me heavy! And if it comes to body fat percentage, you obviously have more. And for the record I'm not even drunk. So I don't need your hand to walk."
Chiemi with all her strength gets off their grasp, and in the next moment with unsteady feet she is leaning on the wall.

"Told ya so. You do need to depend on others. Besides sleeping there's gonna make you hurt tomorrow. But jeez, you sure got booze odor"

Even with Chiemi's alcohol dulled senses, she could tell how hard the floor was, so being unable to argue with that, she says, "Okay fine, here."
As if she's used to it, Mari in response says, "Nice behavior you got there. Who's this princess?" and sarcastically smiles, as she lends her shoulder.

On the first floor, the lounge room is the nearest, continuing with room 101, 102, to where Chiemi lives in room 103. After they pass the lounge and get in front of room 101, "Oh right, I have a souvenir for Aki."

"Chiemi all of a sudden starts rumaging inside her bag. It's a revolving sushi character mascot keyholder she won in a revolving sushi plate raffel.
"She likes cartoon characters, right?"
With unsteady feet she gets closer to the door, and violently knocks.
"The heck you doin'? Aki left for Hokkaido today. All that noise'll rattle everyone up"
Mari hurridly stops her.
Hokkaido? Why at this same time again? Wasn't her family in Shizuoka? Since she always gifts me mont blanc unagi"

Anyways, update:

"It's her marionette club performance tour. They're having tournament finals in Asahigawa starting tomorrow"
"Really? But isn't her light still on?"
There is opaque glass window placed on the door up to face height, where you can see light coming from the room.

"Maybe she just forgot to turn off the light. That girl can be a bit of a birdbrain sometimes."
Certainly even with Chiemi's knocking there was no response from the room.
"I guess I'll just have to give it to her when she comes back"

As Chiemi puts the mascot back in her bag disappointedly, the entrance door opens, and a red coated woman enters. She has light cocoa brown skin and defined facial features. Her long eyelashes and thick eyeshadow gives her eyes emphasis. Her golden highlighted hair has a slight wave to it.

She curves her slim feet and takes off her boots like a model, and says
"Oh my, what are you all doing here? Chiemi dosen't look very steady, is it another break up?"
"Smart one. She went to go drown herself in booze, and had her friend there bring her back"
Mari explains instead.

With an unsurprised "hmm" as she brushes up her soft looking hair. "Do me a favor and don't puke. The cleaning isn't easy, you know."
"Okay, okay. You're always so nagging"
"Shinobu is part of the beauty committee after all."

"Please don't call me that. I don't even clean that much, you guys are all just unnatural. Ah! More importantly, what about the lounge? You guys had a party and left it like that again."
Shinobi all of a sudden gets angry with a bit of shouting in her sentece.

The lounge was bigger than about two rooms, in it are tables and sofas lined up, and has a television. Although it's there so the residents can relax, on the wooden tables; bags of candy, beer bottles, and glasses scattered about carelessly.

"It's cause last night, we threw one hell of a farewell party for Aki's finals competition, that's starting tomorrow in Hokkaido. But the only ones were Aki, me, and Yoshino. Seeing as how they were the only ones here. I'm so jelous of the girls who have boyfriends."
(Yoshino is room 204)

"Oh right, she was happy about winning the Kantou tournament, wasn't she. So the finals are starting tomorrow then. ...And I'm guessing Sayaka wasn't in the party?"
It was in a sympathizing tone which made Tsukasa confused, to which Mari explains.

It seems that the resident Sayaka, is part of the Baldiris Female College's club of marionette, who fought against Lewford Female Collegefor the position of Kantou champion, which is Aki's college
The result was that Aki's college won in the end, and was given a ticket to the finals, however Sayaka's bitterness was nothing small.
(Sayaka is room 202)

Being the only one to not participate in the congratulation party shortly after is one thing, but ten days after that she avoided contact with Aki, and hid away from her even in the great swan. It could have just taken time, but she grew to cheer Aki on eventually and apparently even said to do her best for the both of them.

(Also marionette-ing(?) has competitions?
It better be part of the trick I swear to god)

"...Hey wait a minute! If the farewell party was yesterday, then what did you do this entire day?"
Finally noticing the time lag, Shinobu chides her adamantly as her red lips distort.
"Well personally, I've had things to do. Just fugettabout it, It'll be cleaned up by monday. You're like a sister in law, friggin beauty committee."

Twice every week, on Monday and Thursday, the manager lady comes by to clean. At that time, they are given quite a chewing out. She goes on about today's student's are so ill mannered and troubled, and reminisces about the past...so on and so forth.

"You said there were three, but there's like twice that many glasses. Was it too much for you to rinse it out, so you got another cup? You really are lazy."
It seems they had to, because they were drinking both beer and japanese sake, which leads to Shinobu getting angry. Chiemi also was accused of that before, making her tired of hearing it.

Well they're gettin' cleaned up anyway, so who cares. Why doncha be the manager here when you graduate. You're quite suitable"
Mari grumbled with, an annoyed look, Shinobi doesn't raise an eyebrow and says,
"Why don't you do it instead, Mari? Seeing as how you couldn't find a job."

"I'll be going to graduate school year after next, so I'm fine. Although I had to redo this year. But that's only cause the school dosen't like my abilities. If you're going to say something like that then..."

Maybe she's sensitive about that topic that makes her talk fast and rattle off. Shinobu interrupts her with a calm tone, pointing to the end of the hallway.
"Is it alright to leave her there?"

What she was pointing to was a collapsed face down Chiemi. She looked like she was Judo thrown. While the two were arguing she managed to make it in front of the door, but that's likely when her strength left her. The two lost track of what they were doing, even Tsukasa completely forgot. They then run to her.
She points to the lock, saying "open it" in a deathly voice.

There was no choice but to open it, Mari who arrived later helps carry her to bed.
"Man, what a pain. But I'm glad Chiemi has a good underclassman"
"Oh I'm not much. Isn't it harder for you Mari, you're always with her? Sorry for all the commotion today"

As Tsukasa numerously bows her head,
"More importantly, looks like she's at it again"
Upon turning around, she sees Chiemi was suddenly at the balcony. She was looking up at the sky mumbling, "Where is the moon? Where are the stars?" Holding a can of beer in her right hand, that she probably got from the fridge. Her face is blank, maybe only her instincts are demanding beer. If she's going this far, then she's just an animal.

"What are you doing? I can't take my eyes off you for a second. This will seriously kill you, senpai. Please just go to sleep for the night."
Tsukasa panicingly takes the beer. Closes the window and puts her to bed.

"...Well, hang in there."
After thanking Mari who was smiling wryly and leaving,
"Well I'm going too"
Right when Tsukasa grabs her bag, she feels a strong grip on her wrist.
"Please. Stay with me today. I'll get sad if I'm alone and I might cut my wrists..."

It's cause for teary eyes, hearing her in such a sorry state. She probably wouldn't wrist cut, but you can't flatly refuse that appearance of a small animal. Tsukasa very well knows Chiemi's delicate nature of loneliness.
"...Fine. But only until afternoon. Please promise me. I definitely won't go drinking with you tomorrow."

"Okay I get it"
Once again gives an empty promise, then maybe due to peace of mind, she let's go. Without even less than five minutes passing a loud snore can be heard. How nice. But a promise has been made, unable to throw it away, Tsukasa has no choice but to crawl into the Kotatsu.

The death will be in the next update. It's a bit surprising and an odd one

Tsukasa: Why do I have to be here a third time...?
Tsukasa: Besides, it's Marunouchi's fault for not catching the culprit!
Marunouchi: ...It's not good to take it out on others, Tsukasa-kun
Marunouchi: And then? Did you figure something out, Yoshikawa-kun?
Yoshikawa: Yeah, well by figure out...
Yoshikawa: The fact that Tsukasa was made to drink away, and slept in her senpai's kotatsu snoring loudly
Tsukasa: Wrong! The one who was snoring was senpai!!
Yoshikawa: ...I wonder
Tsukasa: Jeez! Please look at the case instead!
Yoshikawa: Actually, it's because the case hasn't occurred yet
Yoshikawa: For now, let's sum up what happened in the akasha
(They sum up the characters, how many rooms are in the building, the lounge, how there's 7 people living there, with Tsukasa that's 8 characters)
Marunouchi: I'll be showing up too!
Tsukasa: No one cares if a detective who can't solve a case shows up

Chapter 2
1/22 (Sun) 7 in the morning

On that day, from dusk until morning it was the coldest in the year, after 6 snow began trickling again. When Tsukasa woke up and looked at the time, it was a bit past 7. The room was dim yet bright. Actually instead of waking up, it would be better to say she was woken up. Due to Chiemi's splendid snoring.

Maybe due to it being a light sleep, dizziness was still felt. However, because the snoring is so bothersome, going back to sleep doesn't seem likely. That Chiemi, who was dead drunk rambling gripes was making such a happy looking expression while sleeping, so much that you wouldn't think she was the same person. Who knows what kind of dream she's having, but she looked terribly adorable, so there was no need to forcefully wake her.

"I Just have to hang in there until afternoon. I'm definitely going home today no matter what."
She once again resolves herself, and takes a deep breath, that's when she notices the smell of alcohol teeming in the room. Even though there was no drinking in the room....

She thought it strange for a moment, but the cause was soon realized. The beer can she took away from Chiemi last night fell over and spilled. Because Tsukasa herself was a bit drunk, she forgot to dispose of the contents and left it on top of the kotatsu.

Big mistake.
Tsukasa let's out a sigh as she stands, she grabs a cloth from the sink counter and began cloth mopping* up the carpet. The sink's water was so cold it stung, it was a miserable feeling, like being made to do public service. She tried to open the sliding window for ventalation, but the frame seemed to be frozen over, and didn't want to open.
(*mizubuki is a weird word that I don't understand fully. It means to wipe with a damp cloth, but why would you wipe something wet with another wet cloth?)

When using both hands it somehow opened, and refreshing cool air enters the room. The outside sky is cloudy. The sprinkling snow is fluttering, and the temperature is quite low. Of course the flowing wind takes warmth away with it, but it's a much better situation than an alcohol filled room.

Outside of the balcony, in less the a meter, the wall of a building rises. Because there was so much distance from the gate to the entrance, she thought this site was spacious, even though it's in the heart of the city, but it seems the sides are unexpectedly cramped.
Visions is all obscured by the grayness of the building, it's terrible for getting a view of the sun, however there's also no need to worry about anyone looking in.

After leaving the window open for a bit, maybe due to her sensitivity to the cold, Chiemi stops her snore and with a, "Uhhhn", she pulls the covers up to her face and resumes.

"You know what. I feel like complaining myself. Maybe I'll visit Youko+ tonight"
See as how it's no use getting mopey, Tsukasa takes a shower to refresh.
(I think Youko is some sort of fox spirit?)

After a comfortable shower, she turns on the TV. The 7:00 news was on, it was about a follow up report on a murder and topics like convenience store robbery, Nasty images that you wouldn't want to see in the morning kept continuing

Getting annoyed once again, she freely searches through the fridge, and choses to make sunny side up eggs with toast. There was only one egg left, although taking the labor of these past 2 days into account, then that right should be granted. No there mustn't be any complaining.

"According to the information that we've just received, at around 6:30 this morning in Hokkaido Asahikawa,Lewford Female College Marionette club members's microbus were hit by a landslide. Currently, rescue work has begun, at the moment we do not know the safety of the passengers."

After quickly finishing up cooking she changes the channel, after finishing her meal while watching a variety program, she suddenly flashes back to the news she heard when cooking.
...Lewford College's marionette club isn't that.
She panicingly tries to change the channel, but no station is doing news.

"Senpai!" Tsukasa yells to Chieme, to which she only moans hmmm hmmm and shows no signs of waking up. Having no choice she lifts the sheets off.
"The hell!"
In an instant, a punch is thrown. Tsukasa dodges by a hair, and the sheet is taken from her with that same hand she threw. Is this just her manners, or is she just bad at waking up?

"Just let me sleep a bit more"
"What are you saying? It's an emergency, senpai. It's about the news I heard"
Tsukasa quickly explains the circumstances. Chiemi with ruffled hair listens, after a while, the gears in her head turn and she widens her eyes.

"Seriously? Hold on."
She quickly rises, and takes the phone that was laying on the pillow.
"It won't connect"
Could she have tried to call Aki.
"The news did say that, right?"

She keeps insisting she did, causing her to loose confidence. As if becoming exasperated with Tsukasa, Chiemi smokes a cigarrete. She fixes her bed hair, and after finishing one she turns on her computer, and acceses a news site. After a bit of searching, she eventually hangs her head and mumbles, "It's true."

Tsukasa looks at the monitor, it's an article that has about the same details as the news. In addition, it states that it is quite high that the bus passengers are most likely dead.
"Could it be, Aki was in there"
"I hope not but, maybe..."

Chiemi with little words changes to her pajamas,
"I'm going to go let everyone know."
As she's leaving the room Tsukasa panicingly follows.

They go up the stairs, and they let everyone know starting from room 201. It seems no one had seen the news, They all showed a look of surprise then of worry.
Then when they get to the last room, 206, Tsukasa notices an off smell. A strong oder like when plastic or vinyl is burnt.

"Do you smell something?"
Tsukasa asks, "Now that you mention it" responds Chiemi with a nod.
"Is it from this room?"
Chiemi knocks many times, but no response. Room 206 belongs to Beuty committee Shinobu who was arguing last night.
"I hope it's not a fire. If so she might be unconscious."

Chiemi grabs the knob. It's not locked and easily opens.
That irritating odor covers them like a shroud.
"Shinobu, are you ok? What happened?..."
Sudenlly she stops calling her name. Not just her voice, her whole body freezes like if someone pressed pause on a video.
"What is it, senpai?"

But there was no response. Chiemi stays frozen. Only bad anticipation ran through Tsukasa's head. Looking over Chiemi's shoulder, she looks inside the room.
And then... She sees Shinobu wearing Pajamas laying in a puddle of blood.

The arrangement of rooms in the Great Swan is laid out so the part of the building where water is circulated is back to back of each other, that allows each room to have a dining kitchen area. However there is barrier inside of the room that divides the dorm room from the kitchen and the bedroom, it looks like one long living dining and kitchen room. Right when you enter it's the dining kitchen, the bath, bathroom and dining kitechn are adjoined by wall. In the back of the room on the face is a balcony, to the left of that is a closet.

In Chiemi's room, is a stained kotatsu, a boorish cathode tv, a bland steel rack, magazines stacked on the messy carpet. Just above that pigsty which could be mistaken for a man's room is Shinobu's room. Which has; a glass table, a small form LCD tv, with books and small articles arranged equally on an elegant rack, everything is neatly and tidily arranged.

You wouldn't think the rooms both belong to women. Well, Tsukasa is most similar to Chiemi's, so it's not something to cast judgment on.

(I'm really looking forward to finding out who's the narrator of these books, it's possible for it to be Tsukasa herself actually, with the way you can write in Japanese)

Just like with the kitchen, unlike a certain C senpai who has; beer bottles, rice bags, sealed food containers thrown about like a warehouse, this one instead has everything stored away perfectly, to the point where the amount of floor you see makes it seem like a kitchen instead of a dining kitchen.

In that spacious kitchen, Shinobu was collapsed face down, head pointed to the door. A carving knife is ominously lodged into her back.

Shinobu is wearing lemon colored pajamas with naked feet. Her hair is all bunched up as if she had gotten out of the shower. Her face has lost all complexion, that blood which made her complexion is surrounding her creating a small puddle. The blood is all dried, maybe due to it having been a long time since death.

Shinobu's death position is faced down with her right hand stretched out, and her index finger pointed outward. The blood flowed forward, as if declared by that hand. On the floor lining the sink a 3 millimeter thick sheet of polyvinyl is spread out about 30 centimeters wide. It seems to be for water protection, because it was in Chiemi's room aswell, it must be the same for all rooms.

Although there is a lot of blood, the brown sheet stops most of what's around it, only a little bit of blood is spread on top of the sheet.
What is odd, is the fact only left to the palm of Shinobu's hand is the sheet cut off, a 20 centimeter square area. A perfectly clean floor board without even a spec of uncleanliness can be seen.

In front of that square, the blood flow is stopped right at the outside in a straight line, almost like a cookie cutter was used to cut it off. Because of that, the glossiness of the floorboard stands out profusely.

"God drat! I thought it would happen someday, and of all times Aki is in trouble too..."
In an instant, Chiemi has her hands on her head. This is diferent than the time she was told about Aki, Tsukasa notices there is a lack of seriousness. A night and day difference when she saw the body. She spoke in a manner as if she knew about this beforehand.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, SENPAI?"
"Well, Shinobu was a natural man stealer... Basically, she earned much animosity."
Shinobu did seam like an amorous woman.
"So even you're ex boyfriend Takemoto something aswell?"

To which Chiemi greatly shakes her head at,
"That was different. She took care to keep it a secret from us here. But it happened before. At least once to everyone here, I think."
"Even with that, I can't believe she's fine living here still"

"Shinobu? It's not that she's bold, she doesn't think anything about it. It's not actually stealing, she never says her intentions, that guys are the one's who do it, so she never feels any guilt. She has some sort of charming pheromone, that type of girl

On the contrary, Shinobu never pushed them to it, so it's hard to get mad at her directly. It made me feel like a stalker afterwards and it sucked. So being jealous of in that way makes you feel pitiful. At first I felt like moving away, but then I realized that it's a ridiculous reason to move. It was stupid of me to even bring a guy here in the first place.

Well after that I made it a decision to never introduce boyfriends to her"
She spoke as if getting something off her chest, being confronted in a murder scene, this tiny reaction seems like it's hiding something.

"More importantly we should get some air in here. Smelling this is making my head spin"
It seems the shock of seeing a corpse dulled the sense of smell. When Chiemi pointed the smell out, Tsukasa's nose immediately came back to life. She puts her arm up to her nose as she goes to the back of the room.
(Yes disturb the scene, that's a very smart thing to do)

The window's crescent hinge was not locked, Tsukasa opens it up easily with her other hand. On the balcony there a couple of centimeters of snow piled up. She thought for a moment that maybe the perpetrator broke in from here, but there isn't a single footprint.
The wind with snow mixed in drives away the foul oder. After her head refreshes, Tsukasa realizes something important she forgot.

"More importantly, Senpai. We need to call the police"
"O-Oh right. I'll go call them"
Chiemi noisily runs down the hallway. She passes by two other residents who notice the commotion, they look inside the room. It's Mari and Honna Mitsue who lives in room 201.

No sooner than seeing the body, Mari goes "God drat" with a similar expression to Chiemi's. On the other hand, Mitsue, who's eyes were fixated on the corpse says, "Did you kill her?"
She asks with a low whispering voice.

(As of now I feel like the dying message is a red herring by the culprit)

SSNeoman posted:

Japan really loves this whole "dead guy tried to leave message in own blood" trope, doesn't it?

My theory is that the culprit is using the cliche to make us think she wrote a message. Therefore if she didn't write a message, then the murder occurred somewhere else.

And so we continue on with the story hardly learning anything:

Mitsue is an archeology student, she seems to go on Jomon era excavations all the way up to north Kantou. Tsukasa's image of excavators was of someone who squats outside 24/7 with a shovel and a brush, but instead Mitsue's skin is enviably quite white and shiny. She has a peach colored ribbon tied around her silky black hair, she's very lady-like, she doesn't seem fitted for a field of study which requires physical fortitude.

She's the type who never shows shows expression on her face, when she heard the news about Aki earlier she only said, "Oh. Fortune and misfortune really are close by, aren't they" with a low monotone voice. Could it be due to having a fascination with a hobby that spans millenia, that her words mysteriously take on a bigger picture.

That Mitsue, with clear crystal like eyes, stared at her with suspicion, to which Tsukasa denies it flusterdly saying, "You're wrong!" With desperation she unconsciously yells. Because for some reason, she felt that Mitsue held an aura, that if she didn't firmly deny it then it would identify her as the culprit.

"I see. So then, who killed her?"
There's a slight feeling of disappointment in her words.
"I don't know that. Senpai just went to call the police. Aki is in an accident, and now this happens. I don't know what is..."

"Well fine. But if you were the culrit you could shut her up, then kill us all"
"...I guess"
Just like with her first impression, they don't get along well. It's hard to tell weather she's just too calm, or trying to hide her panic.

Tsukasa worriedly looks at Mari, to which makes her go in front of the corpse in a puzzled state she cocks her head.
"I can't believe it actually happened. I knew it would come to this. But it's odd..."
She's beating around the bush.
"What do you mean odd?"

"Hey, do you think Aki really was on that bus?"
Mari asked an absolutely unrelated question.

"What do you mean? Why are you bringing up Aki right now?"
"...It's just that, Shinobu was the kind to steal guys, no she would attract them toward her amazingly. So her being killed doesn't really surprise me"
She says the same things Chiemi told Tsukasa. But it gets different.

"Half a month ago she stole Aki's boyfriend. For Shinobu, she didn't think anything of it like usual, but that was the second time she did that to Aki which made Aki pissed at both of them. Anyways they get to arguing, which leads to Aki grabbing her and yelling 'I'll kill you'. So that's why I thought if Shinobu was killed then it'd have to be Aki..."

Yoshikawa: ...So the case finally occurs
Yoshikawa: It looks like you and your senpai are the first witnesses
Tsukasa: I never though I would see 2 dead bodies in my life...
Yoshikawa: I don't think it's normal to happen on even one
Marunouchi: Have you grasped the details of the case?
Yoshikawa: Yes, for the most part
Yoshikawa: First, Tsukasa hears about the accident of the bus Aki was in
Tsukasa: That's right!
Tsukasa: Then I woke up Senpai, then a punch came out of nowhere, then I barely dodged it!
Tsukasa: I like flew like a bee, like a bee, like a bee!
Yoshikawa: ...You mean butterfly?
Yoshikawa: Putting aside your boxing match, you let the other residents know about Aki's accident.
Yoshikawa: At that time, you notice an odder in front of the door of room 206, when you open it you found the body...
Tsukasa That's right. ...I still remember that scene clearly
Yoshikawa: The one who was killed was...
Yoshikawa: Shiobu
Yoshikawa: The one who arrived a little after you two, isn't it?
Tsukasa: Yes... She was head turning beautiful when she was alive but... not anymore
(Don't corpse-shame!)
Yoshikawa: It seems the victim, Shinobu, courted with men often
Yoshikawa: And the residents had guy trouble among them, and she didn't think anything of it
Tsukasa: Yes...
Tsukasa: But, even if she her hated, she didn't deserve to die like that...
Yoshikawa: The state you saw the victim was...
(The game asks a question on where the knife was)
Yoshikawa: She was laying face down, with a knife lodged to her back, right?
Tsukasa: That's right. She was collapsed with her head pointed toward the door
Yoshikawa: And, there was an odd point about the state of the body
Yoshikawa: The victim's right hand was placed on top of the kitchen sheet, and one part of that sheet was cut off
Marunouchi: Hm, this case is unique isn't it
Yoshikawa: Just what does the sheet that was removed mean...
Yoshikawa: Let's read the rest

So far this murder is unsolvable, that's the way I see it.
Right now no one has any alibi or any testimonies or evidence that would point to the culprit. ZERO. I refuse to believe that the murder is solvable right now Any evidence that would point to anyone hasn't been found yet, before chapter 2.
Unless Aki spread fake news, then everyone inside that lodge is a suspect. Quote me on this, if it turns out to actually solvable later.

Anyways some more details.

Chapter 3
1/22(Sun)
Afternoon 8:00

"The great swan huh? ... A swan's death."
Marunouchi says trying to sound cool, when he rests in the lounge on the first floor after inspecting the scene. Then Shibata, his subordinate brings him the two first witnesses. When he looks up a familiar face is standing in the doorway.

"You again, is it?"
The police inspector didn't have the strength in him for this again.
"Why do you always get involved in these things? You didn't do actually do it this time, did you?"
"Don't ask me"
Tsukasa, makes a childlike puffy cheek face, and pouts.

Although it is just a rumor, but since long ago in many juristicions, the same person being a first witness to unrelated murders seem to happen quite often. They aren't the culprit, of course. They are neither etectives or reporters who are the type to stick their nose in the investigation. They are just ordinary civillians.

The reason isn't clear, but it seems there are a type of people who easily become the first witness. Those who are suitable for being the first witness, they are classified as Maruhatsu, they are all kept profiled in the central government office and are being researched thoroughly. If the trend can be understood, then inspectors with the same aptitue may be able to discover cases right before, no, much before than they occur.

Before, Marunouchi used to bealive that it was just absurd and just a coincidence. Just because somethig is prevalent dosen't mean it should kept profiled. What's important for investigators is experience and perseverance, he always says and gives a sneer. But since frequently bumping into Tsukasa time and time again, he had no choice but to rething everyithing and bealive that there may actually be predermined witnesses.

On the other hand, it may better to just lure her with some candy, and hand her over to the central office as guinie pig to research on.
However, Marunouchi didn't feel like taking her off the suspect list just yet. Because she was one the very few suspects. The reason for that being that there were no traces of a culprit entering from the outside.

Going by the state of the corpse, the incident had to have happened late at night from 12:00 to 1:00. Snow fell until 11:00 at night. In the morning at 7:00 some did fall, but only a small amount, not enough to hide footprints. Basically meaning that if it was from the outside, then they would have to had left footprints when fleeing the great swan.

On that matter, the only footprints heading into the entrance from the gate were 3 sets of seperate footprints. Normally the newspaper gets delivered up to the front door, but it was a holiday.

The front door was unlocked, but Marunouchi thinks that's a fabrication by the culprit to make it seem like there was an external culprit. But the snowfall ruins that culprit's lock scheme.
But to be clear, Marunouchi made a prompt judgment that Tsukasa isn't the culprit. The reason depends on her personalit.

After the crime, the culprit burned the cut off sheet and rubber gloves they used on the kitchen stove of the scene. The odor that filled that filled the room was quite something. The gloves were the type that they sell in dollar stores, although it seems this was a planned crime, there are hardly is hardly any definitive evidence. After the sheet was cut in small 4s, they diligently burned it.

The reason for burning the sheet, is simple when you take the fact that there was blood on the victim's finger. At first the culprit stabbed Shinobu in the stomach, when she fell, they stab her in the back. The massive blood loss from her stomach injury would incur hemorrhage, but it's possible she tried to leave behind a dying message.

The culprit noticed that and planned to destroy the evidence.
The sheet was only lightly glued to the floor, so it was easy to tear and lift it up, and simply cut three straight lines. There were easy to find scissors on the kitchen counter, when they used luminol on the blade of the scissors it reacted making it possible for it to have been the one they used.

The culprit did burn the gloves and the indicting sheet on the gas burning stove, at that time, the gloves were burned in two sets. The gas stove has two grates, on the left grate they burned one set of the glove, on the other one they burned the square sheet and the other glove.

It's possible that maybe while they were burning one glove, they notice the victim trying to write a name, they put on the reserve glove, then burn it together with the sheet. The reason they used two grates on the stove could be that when they burned the first glove, the burnt remains stuck on to the stove burner weakening the flame.

Basically meaning, that the culprit brought another glove just in case. Or they must have had a cautious and meticulous personality.
Leading to Marunouchi's disappointment, he sees Tsukasa as a careless girl, not fit to be the culprit. This is Marunouchi's type of profiling.

Do you guys have any guesses so far?
