I've never even considered the genre of trashy monster books to be separate than the general "horror" genre before. Or at least a sub-genre. heck, most of the books I'm trying to classify tend to sit more comfortably into weird fiction. Brian Keene wrote a few books about giant worms that you might like. It's more apocalyptic than it is outright trashy gore, but from scanning his other books it looks like he goes into that territory too. A bunch of people go to an island and monsters gently caress them up kinda thing. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Brian-Keene/e/B001IQW9KY

The Clickers series is more likely to scratch the "trashy monster fun" itch than the Earthworm Gods books, so if you're going Keene, I'd go that way.

I never did read James Herbert's THE RATS books, but me mum had them along with a load of dumb sounding books like SLUGS by Shaun Hudson. Why isn't Garth Marenghi real?

There's also the Nemesis Saga books by Jeremy Robinson that involve kaiju. I've purchased the first one because it sounded bugfuck, but haven't read it yet.

I just started THE INVASIVE by Michael Hodges. A dude in the woods with his wife gets attacked by all kinds of monsters.
