Maghariba Guard, from Infinity, in 28mm

Dec 10, 2005

Oath Complete!
Did a Reaper Bones dragon to qualify for the Journal, attempting to do a glow in its throat like it's breathing fire. Through a combination of non-excellent sculpting and personal apathy, it didn't turn out great.

My Maghariba Guard turned out much better, however.

I was challenged to weather it intensely, like the studio model. Lots of fun, and I'm glad to have it finally finished.

Hot drat, that Maghariba Guard looks nice! Did you make custom transfers yourself?

Thanks man! I actually got the decals from Plastcraft Games. They do a sheet for all of the Infinity factions.

I can't remember if I posted this Oath Addition of an XWing base or not:

But, despite the onslaught of the dreaded Influenza, Oaths Complete!

Crappy cellphone picture of my BaghMari:

And for my XWing bases, the Journal and a Recipe for Success!

Using my airbrush, pull back a little bit on the needle before lightly spraying, so it sends flecks of paint shooting forward

Coat of black paint (I should have gone thicker on this one, but no big deal)

Use some CA glue, stick a big-ol fender washer in there.

When that's cured, layer in some PVA to ensure the bastard stays put

And now you've got a glorious little starfield base, heavy enough to keep your models from slipping, and perfect to attach to magnetic sheeting!

November Judging!

3rd Place: Red Shoe

You did a great job making what could have been a drab paintjob still pop.

2nd Place: Zark the Damned

Love the weathering on these containers!

1st Place: KingMob

These dudes have a delightful cartoony look to them, while still seeming grim and serious. Not an easy combination to achieve at all!

Bonus Point: Zark the Damned
Those shipping containers really nail the theme, to me.

December Judgements!

Third Place: KingMob

Always so clean, for being such dirty models. Strong lining work.

Second place: Dr Gargunza

The glow on this sword is delightful, really drives home a heated metal look.

First Place: Red Shoe

Impressive volume, and supremely well done. I always love your stuff, and this was another great month.

Bonus Point: Floppychop

This is absolutely adorable.

January Judgements!

Third Place: Red Shoe

It is shockingly difficult for there to be a month in which you aren't one of the best painters. Great work.

Second Place: Floppychop

This is one of my favorite GW models, and you really nailed the difficult task of making black armor distinctive.

First place: Corrode

I almost missed just how great these guys are. You should spend some time working on getting your pictures as delightful as your painting.

Bonus point: TheFinalTuba

This is great tartan work, that deserves to be recognized.

February Judgement

Third Place: Dr. Gargunza

I know how annoying these bones models can be to make look good, but you did a great job.

Second Place: Red Shoe

The blending on the leather is just fabulous.

First Place: Galaspar

With all these bright saturated colors, these guys should look ridiculous. Instead they're just impressive. The vibrancy of the slime, and the eye-jewel in particular, are just great.

Bonus point: Chiwie

This face is delightfully well done! Keep it up!

The side panel on the rhino might disqualify it, but if you're worried about the pre shading in the crevices, I'd say that should be fine
