How big of a plot point is main character dude's dad showing up in the trailers? And how much of the best stuff was in the trailer?

If your going to have alot of characters then there just gonna talk alot of time for exposition. To explain why and what they are doing. It did seem like there was alot of just talking in the middle but it tied it all up together for the ending. I would watch it again. Plenty of action in the ending too. Five after credit scenes, lol.

I too expect the families of long dead actors to have the ability after the death of the family member, to still use their likeness in films in the future. Christopher Nolan will return to make The Dark Knight Returns, with Heath Ledger cgi face.

I wonder if all Ego's children could use his powers but the lack of him being in his children's life or how they were raised without their mother because he killed them all, repressed all their abilities.

Only Quinn knew Mary Poppins was a female, so he just humored him when he asked "is he cool?". It didn't matter what Mary Poppins was cause they were all aliens, he was really just looking to see something from Quinn about it. Its my favorite quote of the movie. I'm Mary Poppins Y'all!
