During the golden age of television in the 50s, a lot of game shows popped up with various degrees of success. One of the most popular ones was "What's My Line" which ran from 1950 to 1967. The format was simple. Each episode had three contestants. The first two were just ordinary people and the panel had to guess what their profession (or line of work) was. The third would usually be a celebrity that happened to be in the NYC area. For the celebrity round, the panel would be blindfolded and would have to guess the person rather than the profession. The panel was made up of four people - usually Bennett Cerf, Dorothy Kilgarten, and Arlene Francis, plus a celebrity. Among the celebrity panelists were Groucho Marx, Jerry Lewis, and Tony Randall. The show was hosted by John Daly for the entire run, other than a few episodes. Among the celebrities for the final around, they managed to get the likes of Walt Disney, Groucho Marx, Alfred Hitchcock, and Salvador Dali - with very humorous results. Here's some of the best guests on the show: Peter L. Lomigistro (profession: runs a machine at Coney Island that blows air up skirts) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQdZyi6fozY Yolanda Reed (runs a nudist colony) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EE7A4UFY0II And mystery guests: Salvador Dali: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXT2E9Ccc8A Woody Allen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0GDDzDiRIs Walt Disney: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56ymPoPBNT8 Alfred Hitchcock: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6cMS_X2_NU Groucho Marx: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5MjzGyKmiw Sean Connery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0BtN6aRxkg Lucille Ball: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiUPVQAmWLI
