The later difficulties of Bayonetta eventually only let you enter witch time through parries, which is the point when I stopped playing. I don't know what it's like in Revengeance but the windows for parries seemed super small in Bayonetta, and it was only made worse by the fact that a lot of enemies have extremely fast and difficult to read attacks.

It's far more forgiving in mgr since you're supposed to be blocking everything instead of elegantly dancing through it

that sounds like a really cool plot point actually

Crystal Chronicles has some neat ideas buried under a bunch of dumb ones. You have a memories stat that goes up every time you see an event (lots of minor incidental story arcs) or finish a dungeon and the final battle involves weaponizing them

Crystal Chronicles was the one where you had to, like, carry around a thing that made a safe zone from environmental damage or something, right? I remember playing a bunch of it solo and thinking, man, it would be great if there was someone else to do this for me.

You have a moogle friend who carries it for you on single player, otherwise the game would be unplayable

Okay I'm extremely envious of your movie collection!!

Also, is it worth an extra 20 bucks for New Motion Plus?

I think I read a really similar article awhile back, and it's interesting to me that the "empty time sink" games are so easy to disagree on. Like, I definitely get what they mean, where there are games where you feel like you wake up bleary-eyed days later and say "What did I do for days? Did I let the plants die?" but whether that applies to games like Civ 6 and Stardew Valley, or Bethesda games, or meaningless puzzle games on cell phones is going to vary a lot from person to person. What things give you meaningful catharsis or are helpful escapist fantasy vs. "addictive emptiness" is kind of hard to define.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I do have a supportive family, and a pet bird, and understanding co-workers, and some friends I see once a week, and all that stuff, so nobody needs to worry about me. I just think it's cool that video games can potentially be a way for me to actually talk, with my voice, about a hobby to other people, but still be present for someone who needs me.

I'm gonna worry a little bit anyway if that's okay. Hope everything turns out okay!!
