The public opinion of his base is unswayed by reality. His base has just enough power (through their GOP officials) to deflect all repercussions. Also todays press conference is great, like three reporters in a row have said variants of 'You claim the president wants this to be a fair investigation but you just said like 12 times that you've talked to 'many many' FBI agents about this investigation, how is that not a conflict of interest?' And then when pushed about Comey/FBI etc, she walked off.

I would be actively more surprised if there wasn't a bunch of 24/7 recordings in a lot of places in the west wing. Not to keep the recordings, but just to have someone transcribe everything that happens because it's incredibly important to keep all the daily promises and decisions straight. The fact that Trump took what should be an official aid to the system and publicly floated about catching people saying ~things~ is just orange levels of dumb.
