All that means is it's guaranteed for injury. Which I guess you can say isn't worth it, but it's not like they're tied at the hip to Bortles for the next 5 years.

Going by his rate stats Kessler is just the better quarterback and should win the job anyway if there's a competition.

Ford's option is fine. Is he saying the second string QB is on the roster meaning Mahomes isn't technically on the roster yet so he isn't second string (the other option is he's third string) or...what? I don't understand the comment.

Yeah that's fine too then. Unless it's Stave. Did you know Joel Stave is on the Chiefs roster?

I did but forgot. And I don't like this new world where I know he's there.

Maybe not until training camp, but if he can pass a physical someone will give him a shot.

There's no real news about it that I'm aware of but it's possible he's asking for guaranteed money and no one will give it to him? Which would be understandable.

I also saw plenty of mocks that had him as the top guy for whatever that's worth (not much, but the buzz was there).

I know you're basking in the afterglow of actually trying to draft a quarterback (I am too), but that 'franchise QB' part of things is very much to be determined.

Favre's public painkiller thing was way back in 1996, which happens to be his Super Bowl year.

Not saying it didn't happen again of course, but that's the one the blew up into a big story.

Yeah probably the worst thing that happened to Jay Cutler's career was Shanahan getting fired. Hell arguably his best seasons in the league were his second and third years, that's not supposed to happen with a guy who starts for a decade.

gently caress that.

I still wish Jamaal well but now I have to hope that he averages 5 yards a carry but never scores and somehow never helps the Broncos to score on any drive he's in for.

It's quite possible he's just done of course, but I don't want to cheer for that

You would have to be dumb as poo poo. Like really really dumb, hell all of the articles about the signing and almost everything written about Glennon has been about how his deal is structured so he can be fired into the sun after this year.

I do think there is some difference between signing a prove it deal for a team with no quarterback and signing with a team that just traded up to draft a quarterback #2 overall.

Would Glennon sign the same deal today knowing what was coming? I don't know, it still seems like it might be the best deal he could get because he's Mike Glennon. But the expectation of what he'd have to do to actually win the job past this year is a lot different now, he'd going to have to go full Cousins.

And if the Bears FO is like Washington's that still won't be enough.
