MOVIE MAJICK posted:Do the Jays still have playoff hopes? They've been on a tear lately, but they're still in 5th place and 6.5 back in the East. I'm not willing to count them out until at least midsummer though, because the AL East looks like it's might be a knife fight again.

Intruder posted:He's 37, hitting 100 more HR isn't exactly a gimme True, but I would still be disappointed. He's on pace for 25 this year. He hit 71 home runs the last two seasons at age 35/36. I think if he stays healthy and gets the playing time he is going to do it. I also hope he gets 700 doubles. 700/700 would be insane. Of the 4 guys who have 700 doubles, only one of them has more than 160 home runs, and that's Stan Musial at 475 (with 725 doubles). He needs to average 20 dingers and 18 doubles for his final 4 years of his contract to do this.

bawfuls posted:I thought they determine this by HR totals now, regardless of who gets voted into the game? From what I remember, AL and NL teams are designated captains through a process I don't know and then the captains pick their teams from their respective leagues. But that may only be for the last couple of guys on the list.

New Concept Hole posted:This might be Anibal Sanchez's best bet on lowering his HR/9 I went to look for other pitchers for the NL and grabbed Jered Weaver but then I saw that Mike Fiers is pitching as bad as he is WITH an 87.6% LOB (good for third-best in the majors if he qualified in IP), what's he going to look like if that regresses?? You'd have to hope that his 30% HR/FB ratio also regressed, I guess

tadashi posted:I dunno what you all did with all the good Cubs, but please give them back. There's so much weird poo poo going on this year, it's unreal. - It's clear that Kyle Schwarber: Left Fielder was a terrible idea, considering he's a big boy and getting bigger and he looks exhausted in the field and at the plate - I think there can be legitimate concerns raised about Contreras' pitch calling, at this point, and I think the pitchers are missing Ross' calmness behind the plate - There's something to be said for missing the influence of Fowler - Despite leading the league in walks, when they do swing, they're swinging at absolute garbage - Rizzo's swing is broken again, he looks like he did in 2013 - Holy loving poo poo, the bullpen (but Theo's always been bad at bullpens and he just patches them together throughout a season, he was the same way in Boston) - Maddon's pushing buttons and pulling levers more than ever I mean, gently caress it, move Bryant to left, promote La Stella and stash him at third and send Schwarber to Iowa for a few weeks or something, holy hell.
