thanks dc really cool thing to put in your comics for children

Is this supposed to be more or less disturbing than Superman wanting to gently caress his 14 year old cousin?

HOW DO THEY WORK

Are you saying you don't think this should be made into a movie? Because this is almost guaranteed to be better than whatever they come up with for the actual Flash movie.

If you missed the Booster Gold series about him coming to terms with Ted's death, you done messed up.

This one time, Wally West ran really fast and punched a guy, and it was cool, so no, superhero comics are not garbage. You must be thinking of your face.

Someone explain what the gently caress is even going on in the DC comics main plotline right now

The last thing I knew about was that everyone was being turned into super powered zombies and then green lantern became god or something like that

Sorry, you gotta spend eight hours on various wikis trying to piece it together like everyone else.

I think the Wonder Woman secretary thing was just incidental sexism anyway. They had to come up with reasons why WW couldn't go on JSA adventures because her creator didn't want other writers touching her. I don't remember why they didn't just write her out of the Society like Flash and Green Lantern, though.

so superman is a full on right wing conservative dickbag right? i mean they always try to make him nice but he was raised on a farm in kansas, so like seriously. dude must have hated gay people so much

Kansas used to be a relatively progressive place, back in the day. And gays have only been truly accepted in urban centers in the last few decades.

Superman fought the KKK before it was cool. Superman owns.

I remember hearing about that one.

Superman and Big Barda were both mind controlled. And despite having mental control over two of the most powerful heroes, the villain decided to have them make a porn and sell it.

Somebody earlier in the thread asked for villains with motivations other than "destroy the world." The desire to make super-porn is a great motivation.

Seeking context for this, I found "16 demented Green Lantern stories that we're sure won't be in the movie", which is pretty fun. Hal Jordan sucks.

Grant Morrison is a virtuoso when he's embracing the inherent silliness of comic books. DC One Million was the second dumbest thing I've ever read and it was amazing.

When he's being more serious, he can be really arty-farty. Doom Patrol was pretentious.

yeah I get that, but people still talk about and analyze comic books like they're real literature

If you think that something being 'low culture' makes it unworthy of analysis, then you're actually way, way too haute.

In fairness, Sturgeon's law is an undeniable reality for comics fans.

But just because there have been thousands of garbage sci-fi paperbacks written over the years, at least 90% of which have been crap, that doesn't mean that selected works of Asimov and Dick and Heinlein and Gibson aren't worth reading. Same for comics.

Speaking of fan stuff, JL8 would make a great Lego Batman-type movie.
