Assuming it's not ALL an act and he's just this bizarre amoral pragmatic atheist or something. I mean, if he believes in God, and in anything from the Bible, he should know full well he's actually evil, right? Am I thinking too much on the morality of the outright villainous? Pence is a Christian in the same sense as a person who goes to the gym once a year is an olympic powerlifter

Obviously she's not as bad as the actual Republicans, but every single person who could have stopped this plane crash and didn't deserves our utter contempt. In what world is an accomplished senator and secretary of state not "remotely qualified"

It's for when the president is in the hospital unconscious, not for when he does things you do not like. If you politicize the twenty fifth amendment, it may not be there when we need it. Incompetence to the point of threatening the Republic is actually a perfect use for the 25th. This isn't "doing things you do not like".

Ogmius815 posted:Look guys I hate Trump too but you're dead wrong on the twenty-fifth amendment. Incompetence is a political question, the twenty-fifth amendment isn't meant to deal with that. Unless you think any president who makes policy you disagree with is "disabled", but that's an insane interpretation that would destroy the Twenty-fifth, an important part of the constitution for continuity of the executive. Once again, this isn't a question of doing things people don't like. If a President is compromised by a foreign power and demonstrates willingness to go against his oath of office, exactly what sort of circumstances would the 25th be applicable for? This isn't calling for the 25th because he made a bad trade deal.

I used to be very pro-gun until I actually looked at other countries, and saw that they have almost no problems with mass shootings will still having access to guns for recreation and sport for those that want it. America's gun laws just don't make sense when you look at other cases. But those countries also don't have the ridiculous gun fetishization and culture that America does, so it's a little different

eyebeem posted:Isn't their tune "we need guns to protect ourselves (from the blacks with guns)" already? From my experience when I was really into gun culture, the NRA is more about the nebulous, existential threat of a corrupt government oppressing the whites. Which is actually pretty funny, considering it's coming true, just for people of color. Not that there isn't also a thread of "protect yourself from the black hordes", there absolutely is, just look at any gun advocate's admiration for Korean shopkeepers in the LA riots. But I wouldn't say it's the "main" thing.

I will always somewhat appreciate Trump for encouraging all the shitheads and fascists to come out of hiding, so I know who's who. It's pretty awful to have to wonder if new people you meet are secret nazis. A few old friends from high school were normal, well-adjusted kids, but it's like their brain broke when Trump and pizzagate came along.
