I've actually taken to pistol quite well myself, though I do the goofy thing of using only the AoE powers and no roulette rigging skills because I like the randomness and I remembered hearing that AoE powers get some sort of inherent crit bonus.

Luckily, Weapon Skins are coming back pretty soon, so if you're attached to those sweet golden Deagles, you can skin the Flame-Wreathed pistols to look like those Heavy Caliber ones.

If they do what D&Destiny did and use the system as a base whilst changing a lot of things to suit, it'll be just fine.
