News Radio was ok at best during its run but like, not 'Wow this is something I went out of my way to remember' good.

Then again, I read the GBS 'Frasier' thread and learned that Goons watch and remember specific episodes of specific seasons of that show and actively go back and rewatch that, like RIGHT NOW, for some reason.

So, I dunno. That seems really hosed up to me, but you do you. I can't fathom having enough time or the ability to care enough to rewatch seasons of Frasier or News Radio, personally. But here we are.

Dave Foley has had some pretty lovely luck. He divorced from his wife midway through News Radio's run and so his child support payments were based on his current contract with the network. Shortly after when Hartman was killed and the show tanked, he still was legally required to pay huge child support amounts to his wife despite being basically unemployed.

According to his wiki:

quote:

In 2011, Foley stated that as a result of having been judicially mandated to pay Southey some $10,700 per month, or "literally 400 per cent of [his] income" in child support, he cannot return to Canada without facing imprisonment.[15] He was also over $500,000 in arrears for unpaid support.

Dave Foley's divorce proceedings are the boogie man MRA's rant about except it's real. His JRE episode where he talks about it is harrowing.

This show actually holds up, I used to watch it as a kid and I remember: Disliking Andy Dick, liking Stephen Root and Phil Hartman.

The only change is that I didn't realize how bad Joe Rogan's acting was.

Hard truth. Phil Hartman and to a lesser degree Stephen Root, Dave Foley, and Joe Rogan make it an interesting nerd-comedy time capsule, but it hasn't even held up better than FRIENDS and I am not a fan of FRIENDS.

Someone just needs to make a super cut of all of Hartman's scenes. That's all you really need.

On Andy Dick's lovely podcast (skulljuice) he alludes to the fact that all of Dave Foley's problems are Dick's fault because he was the one who got Foley hooked on drugs

I'll second this. Dude was good, but still paled in comparison to what Phil Hartman brought on that show.

Then again, who could replace him? Lovitz may have been the best we could've gone.

It's the best show ever made but this thread's gonna die fast cause no one cares about it besides the 6000 people that watched it + there's not much to discuss about it because the show is virtually flawless and no fans debate anything because everything about it owns and nothing is left to interpretation and all its fans are superfans and already know everything, sorry OP

I finally saw it again when I got the DVD set which confirmed i wasn't crazy and didn't just make that entire episode up
