better than usual, honestly. i'm just really bad at reading intent over the internet, especially from people who are probably a good 10 or 20 years younger than me. my earliest internet experiences were characterized - perhaps atypically - by an almost obscene level of sincerity and openness.

LONG BORING PRECISION STORY INCOMING JUST SKIP IT

see, my first real internet experience (aside from some BBS games or whatever, which i didn't find engaging) was a chat room for a local multi-line BBS (this was at the time extremely novel, being that this was before the internet even had a browser). what made it work was that it functioned - by design or by accident i don't honestly know - as an easy place to get ahold of multiple people at once and be like "who wants to go to dennys". everyone was who they were, nobody put up an online persona because we saw each other daily or weekly. shitlords, edgelords, assholes, all got weeded out very fast because there was a very strong emphasis on the "right, let's actually hang out together and not just putter around in our rooms all night" aspect to it. so that probably explains a lot. maybe. i dunno man, i worked my rear end off and danced my rear end off (in that order) last night so today i'm just a bit worn out.

Wow, sounds like a real nightmare.

Just got back from building a semi-friend's computer and that was kind of a nightmare. See, it turns out his family are massive hoarders; piles of books, foodstuffs, and old electronics jamming up the works, and worse, he's in the basement (lol) where there's almost no ventilation and the ever-present scent of cat poo poo because that's where the litterbox is I guess. I had no space to put the rig together, it was dark as hell (pretty much had to have some friends holding a flashlight at all times), and this is only the third time I've made a computer and the last time was close to a year ago. It all took way longer than it should have, mostly thanks to the environment.

It's a miracle the drat thing works.

I want to be able to watch the new season of Twin Peaks so I'm finally taking the plunge and trying to get through season 2. 22 episodes of varying quality is an intimidating concept though.

The first part of season 2, up to the reveal of Laura Palmer's killer is as good as anything in season 1, and the denouement is absolutely harrowing. Then David Lynch pretty much exited the show, leaving us with plotlines like "James Hurley does America." Well, a very small part of America, at least.

To be honest, it's not all bad, just aimless and big on the quirk. I didn't hate Windom Earle as much as some people did, and Ben Horne, Confederate general was dumb enough to be funny. Lynch did come back at the end, though, and the finale is absolutely must-see TV.

Am I going to miss anything super important if I look up "worst episodes of season 2" and just skip those? I understand that there are a lot of callbacks in the new stuff but I don't generally see the value in spending hours on end watching something I don't enjoy.

Well both the main villain, and Coop's love interest are introduced and developed, both of whom are instrumental to the last episode. So I'm gonna say, "maybe?"

As of a recent patch, it does have flare revolvers.

Anyway, KF2 is good, albeit more of the same so it's a shoe-in if you liked the first game. The negativity surrounding it was when TW added a retarded, complicated resistance system to the enemies which made different zeds complete bullet sponges to specific weapons and no fun to fight. Thankfully, they've all but walked it back so you can just pop heads like you're used to.

How does everyone go about meeting well-adjusted people to play multi-player games with? Or are you expected to adjust to the constant hostility if you don't have a group of friends available to play with you? I've lost count of the number of times I went to send a friend request to someone after a rousing duel in Dark Souls only to discover something horrifying about them. In games with text-based chat my interactions often begin and end with people using hateful slurs. My personal experiences combined with the gaming community's questionable reputation have made me increasingly anxious to the point where I'm concerned I've become too sensitive, but at the same time, I don't want to spend my spare time with people who get their jollies from disparaging various minority groups. It may just be that video games are something I'll have to enjoy on my own.

I know I probably sound spineless, and a comedy forum largely born from a shared interest in making fun of people may be the worst place to ask something like this, but I really have no idea where else to go. Nobody I know in real life has enough interest in video games to have any sort of opinion about this.

Be worse than them. Use slurs and insults so vile that you cow them into normalcy.
