Yeah, I got Greens on housing. Feels good.

Is there anything particularly anti-science about the Greens bar them not liking nuclear? Are they anti-vaccers or something? That'd be disappointing, but I really do think everyone in the thread is going overboard in their support for nuclear energy.

I don't think they're anti-vaxx, but they do support homeopathy to some degree. They probably do attract a proportion of anti-vax nuts though. I do support nuclear energy personally but if they were in a place to actually win seats I could be convinced to overlook that, we're just ready to be more particular about them because well lol as if the Greens are going to win more than one or two seats.

As some who had her ring my bell and as about my voting plans a while back, Caroline Lucas is a realpolitic, as much as Corby, unafraid to get arrested for her ideas.

hmmm, then again, that tommy bastid gets arrested all the time for being a rascist poo poo.

I am Heavily into Lucas simply because she is strongly antifracking, as am I. but to all those leafletting kemptown, shine on, gently caress swiss tony. esentially Simon Kirby.

They like homeopathy. In 2015 they claimed to be the party of science, manifesto was two pages of what they'd defund, especially if it had anything to do with animal testing and a paragraph and doing more renewable research.

Nothing wrong with the scientific method.

I just had a vision of solaris : on the surface of the ocean, there was a boy, blue eyes, silvery hair, but then I noticed something terribly wrong; the boy was moving with the ocean, but also moving by itself, & it was 15 foot tall. that boy was Corbyn.

Actually, on the subject of Tarkovski's "Solaris" : the two other scientists remaining on the station when Kris arrives, if we swapped them out with politicians, who would be their "Guests"?

One big advantage of testing with smaller animals is that they breed fast, don't take up much space and are relatively cheap once your breeding line is established. Humans take too long to reach maturity (and human testing is anyway a massive, massive pain in the arse thanks to people generally being unwilling to live at the laboratory and having to be treated with dignity, rights etc.).

Yeah the nuclear stuff really winds me up. I think they've improved (I'd vote for them if I could, <3 harvie), but there's a reason David Icke did so well back in the day- however given that austerity became the accepted standard economic template it seems unfair to single them out as a party that lacks intellectual rigour.

Conservative support is very low in younger age groups and increases sharply as you go up. We're mostly in our 20s and early 30s I'd guess.

There are a lot of people with rather extreme views ITT that they wouldn't actual share or say irl. This thread is not a good representation of the British demographic at all, as is more a UK Left thread than a general UK thread.

I would never have guessed 1. Labour's vote share would be ever lower than the Lib Dem's at a certain age threshold, 2. that that threshold would be 67 and older, rather than say, 19 and younger.

I'm not, actually, unless you think saying dumb stuff like "IRA and its legacy doesn't matter because Tories kill more" is acceptable in actual society. Or any other example of cynical rationale that gets thrown around here when people get a bit too emphatic or riled up.

Prosecute Brexiteers and Full Communism now are not great vote winning lines irl either.

If the nuclear industry wasn't addicted to lying I'd be more sympathetic to their plight.

As it is I basically agree with the Greens on that but can't really be arsed with driving slower and being northern rather than from Brighton find managed decline a depressing reality rather than an opportunity to transform the way we live for the better.
