My personal crackpot theory is that there's no correlation between age and political preference, it's specifically the baby boomer generation that are broken in the head

Typical unforced error from Corbyn and the Labour campaign. Come on!!

Cameron led the donkey up the minaret, not many options for either party to get it down even if you don't mind making a mess.

With the nuclear thing, isn't the obvious answer to literally just point out that if we got to that stage we'd all be dead anyway, so the only relevant thing to discuss is how not to get to that point...
Maybe that wouldn't go down so well though lol. Then again from the guardian feed it looks like there were a bunch of the audience pretty keen on nuclear holocaust

Nuclear/defence questions are largely about the prime minister being Big Daddy/Big Mummy rather than any actual concrete concerns based in, y'know, facts and whatnot

Isn't the alternative to a "shoot to kill" policy a "let the firearms officer make their own decision" policy? Like people are getting bent out of shape because Corbyn favoured the person pulling the trigger to be able to make the decision. Or have I horribly misunderstood?

No - like nukes, this is less about actual policy and more about Looking Tough On Bad Guys.

The Imperial War Museum had a exhibition on modern state interrogation when I was there last, one of which was a piece where the reporter talked to someone under a control order about their life. You were provided a house for free, along with a huge list of all the things you were not allowed to do.

Might be the only way I ever get secure housing. I'm in

It's a bit of a hedge but I went into this election thinking that Corbyn had already 'won' simply for playing a decent defence/May had 'lost' simply for her weak campaign showing. Now, though, I begin to hope.

I agree but it's a surprisingly pervasive idea. A number of people I talk to think that if Labour get in, despite their consistent stance to the contrary, they're going to turn around with a secret plan and undo Article 50 and we can all go back to being a happy and satisfied part of the EU (lol). I can only assume that it's because they think Labour is good and reversing Brexit would be good, therefore it follows that Labour would reverse Brexit.

I think the hope is to play out the Article 50 process, then refer the final deal to the public in referendum and hope that after 2 years the public has realised Brexit is a bad idea/the root causes for the Brexit vote like austerity will have been addressed enough for people to choose Remain. Ride the Chinese fingertrap tiger, etc.

I'd disagree with this actually, depending on the outcome of the investigation. If the cladding is legal, which the newspaper articles I've read suggest it is, then blame should be directed at those who made the building regs, not those who followed them.

(Of course, blame about the generally lovely state of fire safety in the flat is a separate matter, and I'd support a corporate manslaughter charge there if it was a contributing factor).

Surely there must be a "bloody obvious" clause to cover unspoken regulations like "don't cover your high-rise building in loving kindling"

Okay yeah but you realise you just keep describing why people are mad, right? "People are mad because the people who should be keeping them safe seem disinterested and unaccountable" is not answered by "actually they're structurally disinterested and unaccountable so that can't be helped".

The learned helplessness of the proles is why we have to have a managerial class to make all the real decisions; the damage technocracy inflicts on us is the reason why it must exist in the first place.
