As a Remain voter and Labour voter I'd even take a pro-soft Brexit stance but pushing for a hard Brexit is turning me off.

And he's pushing for the softest one that aligns with his intention to transform Britain into a better place for all those in it. You can disagree that he'll achieve it but you also spent two years crying that Corbyn was going to be utterly destroyed in a general election and, well...

I've seen nothing from labour that indicates they're pursuing a soft Brexit.

You routinely only see what you want to see, and it does not always coincide with reality.

Be honest tho flaps if Corbyn was pushing hard-remain you would be posting here daily on the need to leave the single market.

It's basically safe to assume that when pissflaps says it's not Labour policy, what he means is that Labour hasn't proudly declared it'd going to have its cake and eat it too, so therefore their policy is hard leave, exiting even the WTO and also mandatory union jacks.

I don't get all the hubbub about brexit positions, it's all a bit irrelevant when the EU probably won't exist in 5 years and if it does it will have to be markedly different (or far narrower) to survive, I mean yeah we decided as a country to have a lot of completely pointless disruption over it and we'll have a couple of poo poo years before the real poo poo years begin for everyone but the arguments seem all based on the idea that the EU as an institution isn't in a huge amount of trouble. Or maybe i'm just a marxist blyth following idiot and i've got it all wrong.

Barky Mark is a good person to follow if you're worried about the future of the UK post-Brexit, less so if you're actually a hardcore Europhile.

At this point I'm genuinely hoping that a few weeks from now David Davis comes back from negotiations all shook and just goes "I was wrong. We need to stop this."

How's that Leave vote looking

Oh I meant for the hilarity, not because I care either way. I already said many times I don't care if we stay or leave because the fundamental issues with our country are irrelevant to our EU membership.

Anyway, in other news, the Graun has turned on Chuckles for his little amendment fuckery: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/jun/30/chuka-umunna-single-market-amendment-brexit-split-labour-party

My hope after the vote last year was that no politician have the backbone to pull the trigger on Brexit given how obviously stupid a decision it is. In actual fact, our politicians don't have the backbone to risk the ire of the British pollution by refusing to act on it. So I wouldn't expect Davis to do anything except rescind all responsibility for what happens in the negotiations by blaming anyone he possibly can. He'll probably get away with it too given that the narratives of "Remainers want to sabotage this" and "the EU is bullying us" have already gained traction in the press.

Would be nice if this convinces the Tories to push on press regulation to save them from a tabloid mauling.

Basically every day I post in here I bang on about press regulation. We need it.
