A cat cannot stop their base natures or have some degree of control over them like a human does

People should put bells on their cats to prevent this if they wanted to protect the birbs

You must think cats are loving stupid. Cats make sure their movement doesn't ring the bell. Or at least mine did.

Our cats generally only killed rabbits and mice and would bring them back to us though, so they've been good cats.

My friend put a bell on his cats to stop them killing birbs and bringing them to the garden door all the time. They can get around the bell when stalking their prey so it doesn't make the wee ball in the ball move but once they start actually moving the bell will go off alerting the birbs to the presence of the cat.

HIGH COURT RULING: unlawful Tory benefit policy ’causes real damage and misery for no real purpose’

quote:

Today, the UK High Court came to the official conclusion that many came to some time ago. That the Conservatives are inflicting misery across some of the most vulnerable in Great Britain, and for no good reason at all.

The ruling will be a bitter and embarrassing blow for Conservatives. It stipulates their enforced ‘benefit cap’ is both unlawful, and discriminatory against single parents with young children. The Tory legislation ruled that benefits should be restricted to £23K per annum in London, and £20K per annum outside.

The hearing was in response to an appeal brought by four single-parent families who said the cap would have a severe impact upon them and their children. Determined attempts by Tory ministers to have the case thrown out were rejected by the court, to which the Government said it would appeal, stating it was “disappointed”.

Ben Kentish writing for The Independent reports the presiding Judge Mr Justice Collins decreed the benefit cap was causing “real damage to lone parent families”, and that “real misery is being caused to no good purpose”.

The Judge is also reported to have said:

Two of the claimants had previously been made homeless as a result of domestic violence. They also had children under the age of two, which meant they were unable to work the minimum 16 hours per week required to avoid the cap. Nonetheless, their benefits were cut. They were supported by charities including Shelter, Gingerbread and Women’s Aid.

The families’ solicitor, Rebekah Carrier, said:

The benefit cap has had a catastrophic impact upon vulnerable lone parent families and children across the country. Single mothers like my clients have been forced into homelessness and reliance on food banks as a result of the benefit cap. Thousands of children have been forced into poverty, which has severe long term effects on the health and well-being.

We are pleased that today’s decision will relieve my clients – and other lone parent families around the country – from the unfair impacts of austerity measures which have prevented them from being able to provide basic necessities for their children.
In 2015, the High Court also ruled the benefit cap was illegal, and discriminated against disabled people. Ministers were forced to amend the policy to include exemptions for anyone with a carer’s allowance.

The brutal policy was introduced by the Coalition government in 2012 – at the behest of Iain Duncan Smith, former Work and Pensions Secretary. The cap was widely condemned for failing to take into account families’ individual circumstances, and and for making life extremely difficult for some of the poorest in society, including almost 320,000 children.

The Government subsequently announced it will appeal against the ruling.

(Again.)
