I'm not from England, I don't know how things work over there, but why are Lib Dems in this election? Weren't they completely destroyed last time you guys decided to have an election? How are they still claiming to be a political party?

I took that poll and it turns out I'm 60% Green, 20% Labour, and 20% Lib Dem. Zero percent Space Navies is surprising to me. But I did have to do a lot of guessing on what some of the policies meant

How does emigration from the UK to other EU countries work right now? Could a bunch of British doctors and nurses and scientists just move to Europe before Brexit and stay there? Or is that one of those things that's going to be negotiated?

jBrereton posted:It's how it was, still. We're still in the EU. So if May gets re-elected, shouldn't they all do that? I mean, every time a Republican in America gets elected, people say they're gonna move to Canada but they never do. But that seems like a really viable option for British people, especially ones who have specialized skills like being a doctor

Al-Saqr posted:those ISIS monsters are probably trying to influence the election, what purpose would this have? Do they prefer Theresa may? ISIS believes in an actual apocalypse, and their primary tactic outside the Middle East is for just random losers to go crazy and do some random crime, trying to read too much into their tactics seems kinda fruitless

All three suspects shot and killed by the police and the canisters around the body were a "hoax" A hoax as in they never existed or a hoax as in they weren't actually bombs? If terrorists are carrying around random suspicious poo poo just to make the cops detonate them so they get a bonus explosion after they die, that's kinda genius.

Skinty McEdger posted:The press got that clarified. They were literally wearing canisters and stuff as to appear that they were wearing explosive devices, but they were apparently fake. I bet that guarantees that they don't get taken alive.

I'm not in Britain, so I'm mainly getting British political news second hand from reading threads. As far as I cant ell, Theresa May's promises to the British people are to fire all the cops, fire all the firefighters, and replace the internet with going to jail. And the primary argument for voting for her is that Jeremy Corbyn is either silly or horrifying. Does she have an actual positive message to get people to vote for her?

Apraxin posted:I don't think 'positive' is exactly the word but the parts of her message related to 'vote for me', as opposed to 'jeremy corbyn, what a nutter' are mix of repeating over and over what a competent and safe pair of hands she is (please do not think too much about this or ask for specific examples) and that ParliaWint tweet about fiddling with the racism dial until you find the most audience-pleasing setting. She's been PM for awhile now, right? Does she have a track record that justifies the safe hands argument?

Skinty McEdger posted:Actually to be fair I should probably give some context to where the strong and stable poo poo comes from. It isn't at all related to her governance of the country, but it was always intended as an attack on the perception of Labour as a divided party with weak leadership. When the election started she had an absolutely ridiculous lead over Corbyn on "seen as strong" and her approval rating was the highest recorded. Since then both have plummeted and Corbyn is polling higher on both counts. So this is all the fault of the Labour leadership that tried to gently caress over Corbyn and their own voters?

Apraxin posted:You're probably better off asking someone else this one. She focuses as much on her stint as Home Secretary before she became PM as she does on the past year. In that role, she introduced... well, a bunch of bad poo poo, but among it was minimum annual income requirements necessary for being allowed to bring your foreign spouse to live in the UK, as a result of which I can basically never go home again, so I really loving hate her! Wait, what? She made it illegal to marry a foreigner if you're poor? What the gently caress?

Spiffster posted:Seriously where did all this upswell of Labour support come from all of a sudden? Was May's misstep of suspending rights really that much of an impact? Because if that happened in America we would be like, welp, as long as abortion is made illegal or minorities are deported you got my vote... I think that there's an untapped voterbase of people who want things to get better, not worse. Corbyn spoke to those people
