Who are the Chiefs paying all their money to?

$50m in space this year to Houston, Alex Smith and Eric Fisher.

Then $8.5m on Tamba Hali
$8m Bennie Logan
$7m Mitchell Schwartz
$6m Allen Bailey
$5.5m each Ron Parker, Travis Kelce
$5m Eric Berry, Dustin Colquitt

So $100m on their top 11 guys.

This is a pretty normal breakdown, but some of those guys likely don't deserve those cap hits.

Kalli
Jun 2, 2001

In comparison, here's the top 11 guys on the Broncos:

$20m Von Miller
$12m Demaryius Thomas
$12m Aqib Talib
$10m Chris Harris
$9.5m Emmanuel Sanders
$8.5m Ronald Leary
$8m Derek Wolfe
$7m Darian Stewart
$6m TJ Ward
$5m Donald Stephenson
$4.5m Brandon Marshall (lb)

So pretty much identical money as the Chiefs, but aside from missing a QB, you'd probably rather have this group of 11 yeah?

If you end up with an above average franchise starter then it does not matter how you got there or what you gave up to get it.

So I'll say... Ryan Tannehill good?

The other moist rankings:

40: Vic Beasley LB, Falcons

39: Bobby Wagner LB, Seahawks

38: Fletcher Cox DT, Eagles

37: Aqib Talib CB, Broncos

36: Tyreek Hill WR, Chiefs

35: J.J. Watt DE, Texans

34: Kam Chancellor SS, Seahawks

33: Demarco Murray HB, Titans

32: Marcus Peters CB, Chiefs

31: Matthew Stafford QB, Lions

Kalli

Waiting for a compile to finish so threw the top 100 list into a spreadsheet really quick:

# of players 31-100

6 - Titans
5 - Seahawks
4 - Chiefs, Cowboys, Dolphins, Packers, Patriots
3 - Chargers, Eagles, Washington, Vikings
2 - Broncos, Buccaneers, Cardinals, Colts, Falcons, Giants, Raiders, Texans
1 - Bengals, Bills, Jaguars, Lions, Saints, Steelers

By position:

1 Center
4 Guards
2 Tackles

8 Quarterbacks
5 Running backs

3 Tight Ends
9 Wide Receivers

9 Defensive Ends
7 Defensive Tackles
10 Linebackers

8 Cornerbacks
4 Safeties

So my guess for the top 30:

QB: Brady, Brees, Ryan, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Wilson, Carr, Dak
RB: David Johnson, Ezekial Elliott, Le'Veon Bell, Le'Sean McCoy
WR; Julio, Evans, Beckham, AJ Green
TE: Gronk, Kelce
T: Tyron Smith, Joe Thomas, Trent Williams
C: Alex Mack

Front seven guys: Khalil Mack, Luke Kuechly, Von Miller, Damon Harrison, Aaron Donald
Secondary guys: Landon Collins, Eric Berry, Earl Thomas, Devin McCourty

So... I'm over by two. I guess it's possible McCourty isn't on the list, but am I missing anyone? and who else isn't making it? There's no way they didn't vote Dak on this right?

At least ArDarius Stewart will get a lot of practice returning kickoffs?

That alone doesn't explain it. Foles year with better than Manning numbers is a crazy outlier no matter how you slice it.

Sure, but I think it was just a serious of fortuitous circumstances in that Chip was an unknown that teams took a bit of time to adjust to, Foles got lucky on his 50/50 balls, and DeSean Jackson is a pretty good receiver. 2014, Foles got injured halfway through, but was worse without DeSean (and I think some other injuries?, I can't remember), but Mark Sanchez looked closer to an NFL player then he had in years.

2015 wasn't great for anyone involved, but he got an average starter year out of Bradford, then got about as much as you could get from a QB like Kaepernick in that utterly devoid offense the 49ers had last year.

That 2013 Foles years was a crazy outlier, but I think he could've been like, I dunno, Matt Schaub good if Chip Kelly didn't go all Chip Kelly on the Eagles roster.

Let's see

Steelers 5962 yards, 399 points
Cardinals 5868 yards, 418 points

Bell - 1884 yards, 9 TD's
DJ - 2118 yards, 20 TD's

So Bell was 31.5% of the Steelers yards and DJ was 36%

Of course Bell missed 4 games, which would extrapolate out to say, a high end of like 2506 yards and probably like 39-40% of the Steelers offense at most.
