MLB is so far ahead of the other major sports leagues in broadcasting tech it's not funny. They'll be broadcasting games in VR this year. https://www.geekwire.com/2017/heres-watch-weekly-mlb-games-virtual-reality/ quote:The feed, which is free to access and available on Samsung Gear VR headsets, will let viewers select from five camera angles — home plate, first base, third base, center field, and a special pitcher-batter view — that offer 360-degree views of the live action. Or, they can choose a “sit back” mode that is a fully-produced VR broadcast experience.

My memories of Smith in the playoffs: Lead the 49ers to an incredible comeback win against the Saints. Played incredibly well against the Colts, but his defense completely imploded in the second half against Luck. That time all his running backs kept dying. That time Andy Reid ran like a six minute drill while down two scores to close out a game.

In a world where Mike Glennon essentially got a $16m/1-year contract, this doesn't even approach being rational. I think that just speaks more about how stupid the Bears' FO is then anything to do with Kaep's situation.

Eh, I mean you think Paul Allen would care about the controversy around Kaepnerick? The Seahawks already have a lot of locker room problems and a lot of players who hate their starting QB. I can see how adding Kaepernick into that mix would maybe not be a great idea.

fsif posted:Kap is a great locker room guy, by all reports. That's not what I mean. A number of Seahawks - mostly the defense apparently - really do not like Wilson and feel that the team doesn't hold him accountable. If you suddenly throw in another viable starting QB into the mix.. what happens? If the reports of the team coddling Wilson and protecting him are true, then I can see this move in that scenario making sense. Of course, overall I agree it's dumb because Kaep would be a great fit for what they do.

I don't doubt that there are many teams out there who would never sign him now because the owners or FOs don't want any part of him for protesting. But I just can't believe *ALL* 32 teams are colluding to keep a viable NFL starting QB unemployed. I mean, why would the Seahawks bring him in for a visit and spend all this time talking about him and supposedly considering him if they were just going to blackball him? Appearances? That would involve some serious fifth dimensional conspiracy planning. Or you'd have to think that someone in the NFL called up Seattle after his visit and told them not to sign him, and I have a hard time believing anyone in Seattle would kowtow like that to the NFL over such a critical position. Maybe I'm being naive.

MrSargent posted:Granted that is New York, but when an owner is willing to say that in an interview, I don't have any trouble believing that they all think the same way, or are under enough pressure that they fall in line. I guess I don't think it's enough of a toxic issue for the NFL that all the owners are just going to fall in line. They didn't when it was colluding in an uncapped year. They certainly haven't fallen in line about domestic violence. Quest For Glory II posted:idk it's not much different from black coaches being flown out to sham interviews. by inviting Colin and not signing him they can say "look we tried" while ultimately still blackballing him It's pretty different. Those coaches are brought in because there is a specific rule requiring interviewing minority candidate. There's nothing that compelled the Seahawks to bring in Kaepernick other than genuine interest. Did Paul Allen pull the plug? Maybe. If he did, I don't think it's because the NFL compelled him too. I don't think anyone really tells Paul Allen what to do.
