I'm not allowed to drive, have to walk with a cane, and I can't afford to eat. atleast I can make fun of old people that can't read that we don't have a chip reader, look lady there's literally a piece of plastic in the slot that says please swipe what are you doing Lol your life blows

A simple "no thank you" costs nothing, and makes the employee feel like a fellow human being! Crazy, I know. Still lolling at the retail goons defending the stupid practice of carding someone clearly over 30. Never wonder why you have barely any autonomy or decision making in your roles.

gently caress me, if I get sent to HK. I'd only do it if the pay increase was significant. (What am I kidding saying no would be career suicide.) But ya, working in Asia is not a goal of mine.

You have to tip well. I legit feel like 25% is how it should be. poo poo, even if it's a 3.50 cup of coffee, give a dollar.

Retail digs aside; you know we live in a tipping culture, so please don't go out without the money to do so. It's dick. At some places you aren't merely purchasing a product but also tacitly agreeing to purchasing the service that goes with it as well. Places exist that offer the product you want without the requisite tipping. Go there.

Earnestly, if any of you are merely working in retail without going to night school or getting training in something else. I beg you to start. If you live in an area where there is nothing but retail as an industry - move.

I'm just saying, go into a trade. I know some people feel like there is a weird stigma to being blue collar. Yeah they are hard jobs (like plumbing) but they can actually pay well. Just don't go into it like oh poo poo it'll automatically get me a job. But it'll give you the means go actually look for one with a real skillset. Or you could like stock shelves or be a cashier and want to kill yourself.

It's not written in stone that you have to work retail and 'compete' in the retail space. Ah, Yes, to take a risk, and better yourself the realm of the rich. But keep piling on and making excuses and wallow in the personal hell of no growth whatsoever.

Lmao my screen name doesn't mean I'm from Canada. Since my personal experience seems to be on the hotseat: I took an non-linear path. I didn't goto college straight from high school. I went into sales (selling phone contracts for a telecom which sucked) then I moved to NYC and completed a bachelor's in English while work nights as security in lame dive bars and now I work in finance. Wait I mean, let's just mire in our own pity party. God forbid someone suggests some changes to improve your lot lol. Ichabod Tane fucked around with this message at 14:05 on Jul 28, 2017 |
