My fav doomsday episode was some guys where the first thing they'd built was a gallows to hang eachother with if they stepped out of line They came to blows when one guy objected and the obvious psychopath who planned it called him a democrat One of the most American things I've ever seen. There was also a little old lady who had a decent plan and it was all around stockpiling seeds and useful stuff and engaging in mutually beneficial trade. But her family were legit scared she didn't have enough guns and made her do paintball to practice killing people.

The eat out to help out scheme was the one subsidising resteraunts during the height of covid to encourage people to go out and get the virus Coz the guy who runs the big lovely chain pubs is a big tory doner The chancellor paying for the scheme was praised as a superhero in the papers for it and he's now eating poo poo in the leadership contest causes he's not white Then like hundreds of thousands of people died but like 70% of the British public think the government handled it really well

The Chad Jihad posted:Its referring to 2017: they called a snap election that labor was supposed to get pounded in, but instead they gained a bunch of seats which cratered Theresa May's administration especially with regards to Brexit. So widely regarded as a big labor win even if they didnt get a majority. Of course they followed up by immediately self-sabotaging and have eaten poo poo since so the time to release that book was like 4+ years ago Yeah I was there. It wasn't a surprise victory, it was just losing less hard than expected and it definitely didn't pan out as a victory since we got brexit under Boris instead who smashed corbyn at next the election, May was probably the best of the last 3 wait 4 PMs as insane at that sounds to me. It says "the labour Party's unexpected victory in the UK" and it's the only success listed in the blurb which is subtitled "the complete story of the victories and failures of millennial socialism" That ends "But all of the late nights, heated debates, and joyous camaraderie was set against the unmistakable sense that somehow, socialism was winning." I dunno just weird to see it put that way it's sort of American left myth making

Lmao what I remember most about the 2019 nightmare election was the Novara stream saying that some guys from chapo were there and might come on. Iirc They'd been doorknocking during 2017 and that had been a festive atmosphere and they did the same in 2019 and basically were a gaggle of Newyork podcasters being told at every door that corbyn was a traitor or too brexit or too remain. Loadsa good people doorknocked for corbyn and got the same afaik. The stream crashed the moment the results came in so it was double talking with this weird echo and visual distortion as we entered the hell realm and the shell shocked hosts realised how loving badly we had got smashed (the left had deluded ourselves into hoping for an actual unexpected victory, building on 17. Instead we got owned about as hard as can be) quote:The the the the Results the results results are results are IN In IN you are hosed hosed hosed Then ash sarkar makes an excuse to go get up and leave and whatshisface the fella bastani eventually confirms the chapo guys ain't coming up either I tab over to the UK megathread stream where they are at least appropriately furious rather than struck dumb and back pedalling. My pal comes in off night shift and the poor fucker hasn't even seen the results yet. "Did we not win?" he says then he starts screaming

Scotland basing it's whole identity for centuries around being cruelly oppressed by England and having its national anthem be about how one day they will be free Then being asked if they wanted to be free yes/no and saying no because they don't want to leave the EU cause it might take a little while to rejoin Then going right back to banging on about wanting to be free as if nothing had happened Then leaving the EU 2 years later with the rest of the UK anyway
