its the two end caps of a can of spam cut off and hollowed out/rounded a bit more, drizzled with a bit of olive oil and baked at 400 for about 15 minutes to get a decent crisp going, then i threw them in the fridge all the scraps from making egg halves were thrown in the bowl with the braunschweiger, a bunch of mustard, a bit of mayo, a dab of sweet relish, and generous spices, mashed into mostly a paste, and poorly piped into the shells from a cut up ziploc baggie garnished with a bit more dusseldorf mustard and some more paprika

spam owns like you can cook it to a crisp or just to a firmness, it doesn't have a lot of oils/fats that'll render so its usable in a lot of stuff without ruining it (like raw bacon needs to be cooked unless you have something to pick up the fats) and it'll soak up flavor, it's got enough salt and savory to play well off pretty much any kind of flavor profile, and it comes in a handy apocalypse proof can

no but its something i've never worked with before so even though it's premade i am making a mess i had a bunch of crumbly dough i had to peel off and some more dried out while building the uh....dessert also i didn't think about it but putting it into a pre-warmed skillet is a bad idea lol im drunk, hungry, and almost done so ~~~~

this is really fuckin good so i filled the skillet i had the filo dough in about 2/3rds of the way full with the shredded spam mix, then put on a whole onion pan fried up with some cranberries, raisins, and a bit of sweet vermouth, then the almonds toasted in cinnamon and orange blossom water, then another layer of spam baked at 375 until done, pulled it out of the skillet and flipped it into a pan so i can do the bottom a bit more then i garnished with a bit more of the almonds, powdered sugar, some luxardo cherries, and a guava creme fraiche which i made by melting down most of a jar of guava jelly in a saucepan, then adding about 3 parts creme fraiche to 2 parts guava and then hitting it with a bit of cinnamon its the barest hint dry, so i think i'm gonna do a bit more ghee with the next onion (i've got stuffing for two more of these lol)
