I'm going to post an obnoxious number of progress pics. Once my kit actually comes in. Which is supposed to happen tomorrow, but I'm in Houston so...

For people who have done this before, I have a question. I know that you're supposed to assemble the model into sub assemblies first. Like, you put together the forearm, and then you paint the forearm, and then you plug it in with the upper arm once you've done that part. But what do you do with pieces like the one I've indicated here It's a bit that goes inside the shoulder, but once the shoulder is assmbled you won't be able to get to all of that bit. Do you paint that piece first, and then assemble the shoulder and do the rest of the shoulder? Or do you assemble the whole shoulder and then paint it, because only the part you'll be able to put paint on will show?

a friend of mine bought me the Wing Gundam v. Ka for my birthday and I think I'm going to put it together pretty soon. I haven't ever put together an MG kit (did a lot of HGUC stuff in HS along with the 1/60 God Gundam and a 1/100 Turn-A) so I'm pretty excited

Or paint the outer parts and assemble afterwards, but you might end up with an ugly seam line there.

If you are concerned about mess, lay down flyers/newspapers. I'd just use it in the garage, though it is fine outside too

Worst case is it makes the joint stick, making the robot hard to pose.

I officially have taken this project down the dumbest and most complicated path possible, involving giant buildings and tiny cops. Now I just have to start actually building things.

There's a goon called Baronjutter in the Scale Modeling thread (in DIY) who makes amazing city dioramas, run your idea by him if you run into any troubles.
