Doom 1 has way better levels but it also doesn't have the super shotgun or enemies attacking each other so it's a toss up.

To ask the thread a similar question: are there any pays of a game you love that other people seem to hate?

Like, for example, one of my favorite parts of Gunstar Heroes is the dice maze and I was really surprised to find out years later on the internet that people apparently hate that part and consider it a flaw in an otherwise perfect game.

I think Danger Time in Guilty Gear Xrd is awesome but I also understand why most people wish it wasn't in the game.

I like that modes and maps rotate every 2 hours in Splatoon. But Moray Towers should be deleted from the game

In Training

glam rock hamhock posted:

I like that stage in concept, but yeah, the actual tower part really drags the level down. It takes way too long to get into the action

Its espcially rough in ranked because of how far away a death puts you from the objective. Which is fine in concept but coupled with how the middle of that map is designed...woof! There's a reason no maps from Splatoon 2 even resemble Moray Towers but thanks to the japanese popularity vote on which maps to bring to S2 we have this wonderful relic! gently caress off you idiotic japanese middle schoolers! you dont know map design for poo poo!

I don't understand how fighting games don't have instant restart, it's the same stages and characters why not reset the round count and go again?

Tekken 7 even lets you reset a damaged stage in the training mode with only one second of loading

If you're playing locally and just hitting rematch and the game isn't Street Fighter V there isn't a load time, it just resets your position says Ready? Go! and you're back in.

Edit: it's possible SFV also is quick but that would require me to have ever played a local game

After all the build up Pyramid Head has in the early goings of SH2 I was expecting a Clock Tower style indestructible periodic antagonist but I guess you kinda stand a few feet away from him and plug him with 40 9MM slugs and he simpers into a puddle of water...very weird, tonally clashes with the rest of the game. Still loving Silent Hill 2 though

Sakurazuka posted:

SH2 feels like one of those games that only has bosses because it's a videogame and videogames have bosses, not because they thought it actually needed them. That said a couple of the later ones are visually cool.

Same with SH1 kinda, outside of the final boss which was really great and thematically interesting. Like, nobody would miss that weird scorpion thing or whatever that fell out of a parasite eve game and dies in 5 shotgun slugs

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

Yeah SH1 is about as easy as SH2. Hell even the indoor spaces of 1 were wider than 2 so you could juke enemies out pretty easily, the indoor parts of two at least force you to pull out that lumber and get to work.

1920s cartoon porn is epically disturbing because there was 0 professional support for such an industry and 0 distribution so the stuff that got produced was like one guy's labor of love for 18 months and he showed it to 12 of his friends where some vaguely man shaped blob hosed goats to death. And the only reason any of it exists is because one of those guys who saw it was like Oh Hell Yes! And kept a copy for generations and now it's on Vimeo

not really, if a cartoon film with dick premiered today it would be Not Rated into obscurity which is different than actually rating it X. Bakshi was a big enough figure to push his writing to an extreme public awareness in a way no one else could or has since in America

I guess actually an R rating is way more obscure due to volume than any outright rejection
