Problem description: I've been having incredibly slow speeds only on my laptop. I've been doing Speedtest.net tests for the last week or so, and right now my results are this: Compared to this on my cellphone: Attempted fixes: Since this has started happening, I did the Windows 10 "lite re-install," that I guess re-installs Windows but keeps your files and uninstalls all your programs. I was hoping this would reset my network settings, but I don't know if it did. I've googled around and tried various fixes, changing settings in the network panel, but honestly I'm loving lost when it comes to networking. Recent changes: I had the AT&T tech out last week and he brought a new gateway because I thought that was my issue. It did drastically increase the speed on my other devices, though. -- Operating system:Windows 10 64 bit System specs: Dell laptop, Inspiron 15 7537, reg model p36f. My AT&T-provided gateway is an Arris, model #BGW210-700 Location: US I have Googled and read the FAQ: Yes

Make sure the laptop is connected to the 802.11ac/5G portion of the router. It might be connected to a slower Wi-Fi setting.

This site says that the metal body of the laptop interferes with WiFi transfer speed and that it also shipped with a N capable wifi chip, not with an AC capable chip, so that could be contributing to your poor performance. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Dell-Inspiron-15-7537-Notebook.104976.0.html After some more googling intel revised the 7620 because it was having so many issues http://qdms.intel.com/dm/d.aspx/CC049656-390A-45B4-8291-AC6E85530DCF/PCN113028-02.pdf Also intel released an announcement with a known data throughput issue with the same card this august. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005615.html You could look at replacing the card with the newer revised AC model, the model number you want would be the 7260.HMWG.R

Both of those replies are worth thinking about, but since my card's only ever been n-capable and the body's always been aluminum, I can't think of any reason why this issue would've started suddenly. I never got crazy fast speeds, but I'm downloading a file at 200 kbps right now from a fast server. Tried the same file on my phone, connected to our wifi, and I'm getting like 200 mbps. I just have to believe that it's a software or driver issue that's somehow recently happened, I just can't loving figure out what it might be.

I'd try connecting it to another Wi-Fi network somewhere else and see if it continues with the slow speeds. That would narrow the issue down more. You could also run these to check for malware: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/tdsskiller/ https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/ https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
