I think that was the ring that was supposed to help regulate her magic so she wouldn't suddenly fall over dead of being a sleigh beggy. With how close the manga feels like it is to ending it seems very likely they're aiming for the same ending. Unfortunately to fit it in they've really started skipping through the material (they cut more than half the conversation with the witch, for example), so the pacing feels real weird. I'm not enjoying the school arc but that's mostly because there are so many new supporting characters and the manga stopped getting translated for a few months so I forgot practically everything about them. It would probably be much improved in anime form.

I had trouble keeping track of all the students from month to moth, should be much easier in color and weekly. Also caterpillar nurse is the best.
