i had one of the ikea chairs before they got popular. the elastic on the lumbar support disintegrated so it turned into a back destroying hammock. the steelcase has a bunch of curved thick wires that are a little bit springy but also limit the amount of stretch

The most annoying part about lovely chairs is when they tilt back but the seat and the back are one piece and they both go back at the same time.

I have some steelcase deal at work that looks cheap but is actually ok; my other offices either have the same thing or just some random meeting room chair at home I have a plain wooden chair either case I don't really care because I don't sit for endless hours either place

i have spent many years with chronic pain because i didn't pay attention to this poo poo the stakes are serious. at peak, it was pain so bad i couldn't sleep at night. there's little you can do about it after the fact, because it's induced by nerve damage. i have found ways to cope, and reduce my pain level, but i will never return to my previous level of activity

tl;dr: your chair matters buy a fully adjustable chair. it can be a chinese knockoff from officemax. that's fine. but it needs to be fully adjustable.
