Secret World is pretty great and has a mankini so it kinda beats GW2. SWTOR used to be a lot worse and improved a lot after going f2p. If only they hadn't removed compatibility with some of the companion weapons and ruined my Kaliyo.

Bringing back Shae and Nico is a good move. Much nicer to start alts with an insta companion. Now if only they'd give us another chance at getting the HK story mission.

It was probably easier (cheaper) with the "original" content to have less story oversight from Lucasfilm, but at least going back to Imperial/Republic should ensure some modicum of consistency and hopefully less suckage.

This why you take breaks and rotate MMOs. I come back to SWTOR every 4-6 months and legitimately have fun for a few days. When there's nothing left to hold my interest I roll on with no hard feelings. I know we'll meet again and enjoy our next visit.

I think it's more they realized that the playerbase that was interested in the XP grind was finite and had already done it, so at least this lures the casuals who just want to play all the stories and not futz about with anything else. The few completionists left can still play every quest if they want. I know I would have stopped with just doing a couple stories if they still took as long as they did at launch.

You can buy an unlock with cartel coins that lets you wear purple, right? Also, you can stash purples and then use a referral code for a week or something of free sub time and equip them then. If you have them on when the time expires you can keep wearing them. Convoluted work around, but w/e.

KOTET is written like mediocre fanfiction because that's what it is. It's not WoW level bad writing, but it's not as good as anything in the class stories. Doubtful anything else ever will be. Temper your expectations and it's fine.

I wish they'd bring back the HK bonus chapter in some fashion. I was a broke student back then and could hardly afford textbooks much less half a year sub, but now that I have money I'd happily pay for it.

I thought (could be wrong) that it used to be the unlocks for hiding helms etc. could drop from crates and sold on the market, so f2p could purchase them if they wanted to grind for credits. The escrow system is a bit of a gently caress you for this, but if they raised the limit (especially considering inflation) so that there was nothing out of reach for f2p, just a really long grind if you don't sub, then I don't think there'd be as many complaints.

The last several times I jumped into a pvp match solo we were up against premades and got utterly curb stomped. Random pubbies thrown together just can't match the coordination of even a mediocre premade. I prefer being in premades because of this, but it does discourage just casually hoping into a pvp match by yourself. If the matchmaking had some logic to prefer pairing premades with premades and only paired with solos when nothing else was available it would not be a bad thing.
