IMO anyone who supports the women of the animation industry should buy tickets to Coco and burn them. That way, you're supporting all of the talented Mexican and Latino artists who worked on the film, but you're also sending Disney a clear message. They let this happen for years and they can't come out of this thinking that that was acceptable.

I'm planning to go to the theater this weekend and use my movie pass to see it and probably enjoy it. I'm not sure how spending money in support of a product but then not seeing the paid for product works.

Because somehow his dad doing something before he was born is a reason to dislike Max when he already has so many other things to bring up.

Well, the poo poo can go both ways right? I work in middle-to-high school education and it turns out that kids and adults alike are often super-duper extra lovely to girls who commit the sin of developing early or growing boobs that are “too big” for their age cohort.

Like, if you can name a problem in education somebody has tried to blame it on a student’s boobs. Parents will sit in a meeting straight-faced and blame their own kid’s inability to self-regulate on a classmate’s choice of shirt. Or argue against including a kid on an athletic team or in a performance on bullshit modesty or self-esteem grounds or “other kids and dads will be distracted” (a real argument often tossed around by athletic staff). Is a girl getting bullied by her peers? Harassed by strangers? Do other girls like her too much? Too little? Do boys like her too much? Too little? Grades too low compared to her classmates? Grades too high? Did she place in honors math? Regular math? Is she depressed? Is she really happy? Did she get assaulted?

Welp, boobs are for Adults Only and she should’ve thought about the consequences of her choices before she put those adult boobs on in seventh grade. I tell you, in my day we had responsibility.

The dress code for girls is almost completely based around not distracting the boys in class too. It's ridiculous

I see punishment as corrective, and not revenge. If someone did something years ago, was already called out at the relevant time, apologized, and most importantly - did not repeat their actions, I dont see the point of a retroactive punishment.

Especially with a social issue where a change in society means the social punishment increases a great deal from when the initial social crime was made. I simply dont understand people that want some kind of revenge on people who have clearly learned the error of their ways.

This is different from a, say, Polanski, who ran from his initial punishment, or a Trump who avoids facing anything from his CURRENT actions.

His horrible edgelord comments fall into the same category as Roseanne, horrible enough to lose work but not horrible enough to become an elected official.

But seriously he already had these tweets come out, he apologized for being an edgelord, Disney decided not to punish him. It's lovely that now the exact same tweets are coming out again, he still has apologized, but this time it's "gently caress you good bye."

If they were going to punish it they should have the first time the tweets were brought to their attention.

It's now years later and they decided to cut him loose which sets a pretty poo poo precedent. That would be like if my bosses decided retroactively years later that a mistake I made during my 90 day probation period was worth firing for. Safeword you honestly might want to step away from this thread and calm down because you're getting irl angry about things that have been explained at length.

Making terrible jokes about pedophilia isn't great. It's a lovely topic to joke about but comedians do that. They make jokes about things that are lovely to joke about. Entire careers are formed off that exact thing.

James Gunn wrote movies for Troma which is known for it's edgelord sense of humor. We have explained this to you at length. And you come back with "but James Gunn worked in Hollywood and was responsible to get rid of the toxicity of Hollywood with his influence" but I don't know what influence a writer for Troma actually has on the culture of Hollywood at large.

And as for not demanding blood like was said above you have done exactly that. Every time you are happy he got the axe for tweets he made a decade ago, were discovered years ago, were apologized for, and ignored by Disney you are showing that you're happy that Not a Rapist got fired because an Actual Rapist riled you and a bunch of 9ther people on Twitter up.
