:siren: Welcome to the X-Mas Sales 2017 Thread. :siren:

Just like during the summer this thread exists in order to gather all the discussion ignited by game sales ANYWHERE. Origin counts too.

As for Steam itself: it has no daily deals anymore so what's on the wall the very first day is what we're getting AND cross-region gifting is pretty much dead now because of Valve's restrictions.

:siren: Sites with deals on Steam games: :siren:
  • Steam Store - heh, a classic. Sale starts on December 21st!
  • Humble Store - always remember to check their regular and weekly bundles while you're there.
  • itch.io - ALREADY STARTED A SALE - an indie-friendly store.
  • Greenman Gaming - sometimes just has the best deals and often offers a discount code that additionally shaves off 15-25% from the sale price.
  • Gamers' Gate - ALREADY STARTED A SALE - offers some cool daily deals but nothing too epic UNTIL they gently caress up the prices.
  • Bundle Stars - also has a store. They have some good deals on often obscure titles that aren't a highlight anywhere else.
  • Indie Gala - has a store. It sucks. But hey, sometimes it doesn't!
  • Direct2Drive - might start a sale.
  • Amazon Digital PC Games - there used to be deals here. RIP Amazon Tony.

:siren: Stores with non-Steam game deals: :siren:
  • Origin - sports sports sports also get Titanfall 2.
  • Good Old Games - old and new games with no DRM from CDPR.
  • Uplay - games from Ubisoft. Note that they strictly sell Uplay-only codes that won't work on Steam.
  • Blizzard Store - formerly known as Battle.net. Strictly Blizzard/Activision games.
  • PSN Store - Playstation games.

:siren: Recommendations: :siren: there are goons that do write-ups on various games:

My personal recommendations this year: Prey(Arkane's take on System Shock) and Assassin's Creed: Origins(Ubisoft's take on TW3/HZD). Game sales I'm looking forward to: Night in the Woods, Hellblade, Wolf 2, Cuphead. I'll probably expand this later.

The best twine collection, eczema angel orifice, is $2.50. It's insanely, incredibly good, full of twine games by porpentine. They're all weird and interesting and vivid.

if it's porpentine it's probably shitloads of games talking about chopping your balls off and creating a messed up vagina in your woundhole, don't play those games if you're eating. made that mistake with Cyberqueen.

Uh.... no. porpentine's games aren't like that. The violence in Cyberqueen has a point to it, and it's certainly not how you're describing it.

Have you heard of Fermat's principle?
Maybe it's a bit too specific and niche, but the Oculus store is having a winter sale that started a few days ago and ends January 2nd: https://www.oculus.com/blog/oculus-winter-sale/

Bunch of things on discount, daily deals, and there seem to be three main packs (green, red and purple) that are nice bundles of popular games that tweak the price if you already have some games in the pack.

Seems to be a respectable sale, but some items like Onward and Serious Sam games can be found cheaper on Steam until the 21st (and maybe beyond for the Steam Winter Sale).

They're raking it in and releasing a full version tomorrow. They'd be nuts to give it any sort of decent discount.

Eh a "release day sale" could be a thing. Even if its 10%

I hope its more but highly doubtful considering its a massively popular game and is already less than many of the other big names this year.

Hi everyone. I didn't play enough 2017 games to warrant a massive downpour of Top List posting like last year's thread, but I will do a couple of recommendation posts once sales are really hot and heavy.

The most important thing is: Get Monolith

They're not quite the same. Monolith leans far more into the twin-stick shooter side of things. There's an old demo still available at itch.io you can try:
