Bad guy has a some dead fingers that his body is rejecting... welp, Fishman is obviously gonna heal him, thus showing him the error of his ways and convincing him to open his worldview and trust in Others -- wait no, Michael Shannon went full Zod and made that impossible, then got owned. Yeah exactly. I can see not liking the movie if whimsy isn't your thing, but calling it safe? It has a mute protagonist for starters. Safe is like a Marvel film or something.
