Oh my God this show is untentionally hilarious with it's drastic tonal shifts. One moment he has to kill a demonic turtle who absorbed his mom and dad who... was honestly a little bit more scary in the old OVA And then suddenly he wet dreams so hard that he jizzed right into the goddamn ceiling. Now I'm at a point where the man is literally motorboating a demon lady.

Luckily Miura said Berserk is not going to end on a totally dark ending, so there will definitely be some comeuppance there. Of course, the main problem with Berserk is whether it will actually reach an ending.

Ultimately, it was alright I felt; I'm not completely sold on Yuasa with this being my first real exposure to him, but eh. So much of Go Nagai is just stupidly grimdark for no reason and this did as well as it could have. It still makes me wish that Guyver could have gotten this kind of treatment instead; I was always more of a fan of how Guyver did the "boy gets powers to brutally rip apart aliens/demons" kind of thing over Devilman (or Devilman Lady for that matter, but Lady will always have a special place in my heart for how absolutely stupid its ending events are).

I do agree with this; I guess you can read and watch some of the remaining Amon stuff, but Violence Jack is despair and gore porn to the point that it is just comical than weighted (Devilman has always had this issue but it manages to hit the feels more often than not, this is not the case with Violence Jack). Devilman Lady (both anime and manga) is just kind of dumb.

He somehow splits himself into two people, one being the main character of Lady, and the other the Ryo analogue (who is her... cousin I think?) to get off God’s radar. So the events of Lady happen, Lady goes to hell for a bit and it turns out Akira is down there too along with most of the slain demons from the original. Akira fucks Lady for reasons, goes back to Earth, and the rest of Lady happens. Cousin Ryo screws Lady but realizes she can’t fully satisfy Lady without the male equipment. poo poo happens, Cousin kinda regains her memories as Satan, and screws Lady again with her full package this time. If the show, this was rape. In the manga, this was a way to impregnate Lady, have her give birth to a full grown baby in an hour, and said baby grows to a grown rear end man in another hour (who is Akira; this was one long dumb way to get Akira back in the real world). Lady and Cousin fuse so that Satan is complete. All the demons come back from hell and likely possess humans in mass. All of this was done so that Satan can be like “see Akira, God really does suck!” Akira is like “yeah he kind of does” and he and his army of good devilmen join forces with Satan and his army of demons to likely get bitch slapped by God into another loop. We haven’t gotten anything technically set past Lady yet.

I suppose it's a matter of whether or not you can feel enough sympathy during the scene. I was right with that dad when the scene happened. Plus, his English actor really sold it too. But then he just got wiped out by the military so quick that it took me right out of the moment because it was so like Adult Swim-comedy esque. They didn't even have to kill the dad either, as the scene was pretty much perfect up to that happening.

Hell, the entire point of the events of Devilman Lady was Satan trying to get Akira and his Devilman army on his side to fight God because of the loop nonsense.
