we have free drive-up/walk-up testing where you don't come within 6ft of anyone and everyone is in full PPE, outdoors, with the walk up areas tarped off and sanitized between everyone, and an oral swab test. when things were looking like they were calming down and protests were happening all the time I was getting tested every couple weeks.

Knowing Brother exists is effectively a cheat code when you're looking for a printer

I bought one almost 10 years ago and have had to change the toner once. Never had any issue with it, printing or scanning, over wifi with like zero setup. Every time it doesn't work I think "ah poo poo, printer is finally biting me in the rear end" and then it's out of paper.

well that explains why i like borderlands, i can barely aim in the first place

basically all shooters have aim-assist, and on console it's practically a necessity. i had a two hour meeting with a combat tech designer from One Of The Big Multiplayer Shooters that was just him two hours of telling us all the different ways they make it so if you think you should hit something you always do

oh I thought pvp was meant

they do it in pvp too iirc.

and yeah I'm talking about controller stuff (your camera/reticule is "magnetic" over enemies/targets, etc) and client prediction/lag compensation stuff (if that guy was there on your screen when you fired, you hit him even though he had started moving already on his screen), but also just like making your shots hit instead of narrowly missing.

it doesn't get talked about an awful lot because the whole point is to make you feel better about yourself and have a good time. it doesn't really lower the competitive ceiling, it just raises the floor some. also, it's not the 90s anymore, big name AAA shooters are targeting console first, because they sell more on consoles.

tl;dr your games are doing aim assist and it's good

sounds like you only play dogshit shooters

no i was contracted to make a dogshit hyper-realistic shooter on console and despite presenting a large body of evidence about how all console shooters do aim assist (and the principals at the client refusing to play it on console because they couldn't aim with a controller) they insisted on 1:1 movement. it's a dogshit game (it's not out yet) and the only reason i don't mention it by name is i a) don't want to lose my job and b) don't want to be associated with it. we requested to not be listed in the credits

my wife's parents got us a brother laser printer/scanner/copier and so far in like 9 years it's given us these problems:

1) out of paper
2) out of toner (once)
3) paper jam (once and I think this was my fault)
4) today it wouldn't connect to the wifi. then I disconnected my phone from the wifi and tried to connect again and it wasn't connecting, so I rebooted the router and about a minute later the printer just started printing the thing I asked for
5) right at the beginning of WFH i tried printing something, and it turns out that it is not the printer at my office, so when I tried printing to that printer, mine didn't magically intercept the packets and print it itself. rude

making an NFT releases more carbon into the atmosphere than you'll ever create in your life because crypto is a system that turns insane amounts of fossil fuels into a 128-byte hash

this is so you can have less control over your art as you already do under copyright law

I've always been under the impression art sales have been money laundering/tax evasion schemes for centuries. NFTs don't seem like anything worse than "normal" art, provided the artist gets the initial sale/profit.

Every time a crypto token is created or changes hands, a ridiculous amount of fossil fuels are burned. Burning fossil fuels are the main cause of the changes to the global climate in the anthropocene era. Global temperature increase will kill or displace hundreds of millions of people in the next century.

When should you need your own car in a city? Almost never! Only in very specific situations. This should never just automatically be the default because the owner thinks it's okay to not utilize public transportation or bicycles.

that should be the goal in planning cities, yes
