It's breaking my brain trying to work out how the instrument works.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurdy-gurdy

The strings run across a wheel - turning the wheel vibrates the main strings, and several drone strings. The main strings can be played by with the buttons, which press against the strings to produce the desired pitch. You can also lift that cover and directly manipulate the strings, playing it like a fretless guitar.

This particular one is amped up and run through a looper and several different effects pedals.

e: not so much a fretless guitar - the whole thing is kind of an auto-fiddle

Chickens would absolutely kill/eat humans if they were any bigger.

chickens are bros

These are both true.

My parents raised broilers for a few years. They'd raise a backyard flock of about 30 that would roam the property during the day. They were goofy, endearing birds, and took to following our golden retriever around for reasons I'm not really clear on. But yeah, they'd try to eat drat near anything.

It was always sad when it came time to slaughter them, but at least we had given them the best life we could. Plus, broilers will suffer from cardiovascular or skeletal problems if they live much past their slaughter date.

though that's because we've bred them that way, so

are the chickens named after the preferred method of cooking? That's kind of macabre

Not specifically, it's just to differentiate the meat breeds from the laying breeds. And it is a bit macabre, but I suppose if you're going to eat meat, the least you can do is own up to the fact you've bred an animal for slaughter.

But since I lost track of which thread I was in and got into animal husbandry in the blessed pics thread, here's my dumbass cat chilling in my euphonium case:

I have to keep one of my cats out of the bathroom or else he'll get in the shower with me and start drinking. That is not healthy or wise to do, Marlo!

My dumb rear end in a top hat of a cat (pictured above) that lives with my parents does the same thing. As soon as anyone gets in the shower, he'll sit outside the door and meow and then rush in as soon as the door opens so he can lick the sides of the tub.

I don't know what it is about shower water that he likes, but at this point he's 17 years old, half deaf and starting to act half senile besides, so if he wants to drink shower leftovers then whatever, more power to him.

In addition to his film and television scores, John Williams also has numerous concert works, including 18 concerti.

His 1985 tuba concerto has become one of the standards of the tuba repertoire:
