Finally got my HomePod set up and drat it does sound really good.

It’s a lot heavier then I thought it would be though Jesus.

Also I kinda wish the phone displayed what song was playing but that’s a minor gripe I guess. So far I’m really happy with it.

Maybe I’m confusing the issue as well but are they gonna let us have all the HomePods in the house play the same thing?

It would be nice to have one upstairs and downstairs.

Unless it already does that and I am missing something.

As easy as switching to headphones on the phone..

If you have another call incoming all you have to do is tap the top of the Pod to switch to that..

Haha I literally just did this. The sound quality is great and the person on the other end could hear me very well no matter where I was in the room.

I still like mine a lot. It’s nice to have in the kitchen / living room.

Siri can actually understand me when I slur my words which is pretty nice too.

Siri question.

I’ve had it happen twice so far where I will say “Hey Siri I like this” to which she will respond “Do you?”

Uh wtf does that mean? Did she like the song or what? Most of the time she says “Got it!”

Ok I have to come back this is question. It can be because she didn’t understand the word “this” reason I say that is because I told Siri I liked a song on my phone and she understood all of the words but still replied with “do you?”

I know she got all of the words because they were typed out on the phone. So what’s up with that? Just a random bug?

Besides that the HomePod is loving awesome and I use it every day. I’ll definitely get a second when I can have the same music upstairs and downstairs but for now it resides in the kitchen.

Also it’s drat amazing how much better Siri is on the HomePod vs the iPhone (8+). It’s like night and day.

I said this in the Apple TV thread but I’m a little miffed that you can’t tell Siri via the HomePod to turn on the Apple TV and open an app (say direct Tv now). It really doesn’t seem like such a thing should be that complicated.

Also I don’t know if this is a bug (it seems like it is) but the airplay hand off from the phone to the HomePod is a little weird. Like if I airplay a station from my phone but then tell the HomePod to stop playing music then a little later tell the HomePod to play some music it starts playing it from my phone not from the HomePod. Only reason this becomes an issue is when its doing that all of my phone sounds are routed through the HomePod (hint don’t watch porn on your phone lol).

Has anyone else noticed this?

If anyone has two of these (mini or regular) how seamless is it when you use them with an Apple TV.

I have a sound bar now but I’d love to get rid of it in favor of two of these minis in the bedroom.

Obviously the sound bar just works so I’d hope the minis are the same. I don’t want to have to switch the sound around every time I use the tv.

My biggest issue is that they can’t be permanently paired to the ATV, you have to airplay your them every time. I understand this is possible with the regular HomePod, so maybe it will be added in time. It is a minor, but fairly annoying issue - for example, my wife will never use them because she’d have to learn something new (not knocking my wife - she just doesn’t care about this sort of thing). It’s also odd that you have such limited voice control of the ATV via HomePod.

Well that’s a big fat no sale for me right now then.

I’ve said before I’d like to replace my sound bar with a pair of these on the night stands but I guess it’s not really gonna work for that. It is weird that it doesn’t work like the Regular HomePod does though.

Thanks for the write up! I’m gonna keep and eye out if they fix that issue.

I haven’t updated yet but is annoying that when a timer is going off and you say “hey Siri stop the timer” she will like 90% of the time say “the timer is canceled” and the rest of the time she just turns it off like how it should be.

Saying the timer is canceled after it’s already finished and going off is a bit weird.

Cool thing is apparently Apple is enabling temperature sensors in the homepods (and minis) so you could even set an automation to turn it on if it dips below a certain amount and you are at home between certain hours etc!

I'm extremely keen on the temperature/humidity sensor support to just have some more tracking of the different areas of the house etc.

My Gas bill just went up 4x I'm never using my heat again lol

I'm also moving soon so I might pick up a few more mini's for around the house.
