Its probably why I complain about 5e streams so much to be honest, give the smaller companies a chance to show their game and almost without fail it is a giant boon for sales.

Interestingly I find you need something special for me to watch D&D 5E - like, sure, I'm watching Critical Role's second campaign but no others - but my absolutely favorite streams are for a FFG Star Wars game and a Savage Worlds Deadlands game. I'm certainly not saying there's only the one good 5E stream, but CR is the only one that I find interesting for whatever reason.

Sell those other streams my man, what star wars and savage worlds are you watching?

Both are on Twitch - the channel Hyper RPG has Pencils and Paragons which is the Star Wars game. They also have this Battletech game called Death From Above which uses a unique system that mixes an RPG and miniatures (and it's not A Time Of War mixed with the actual miniatures game before somebody asks, but it was developed by some of the BT mucky-mucks). The other with the Deadlands show is SavingThrowShow, and both I think are worth one's time if they like the game already.

I know of another one called Happy Jack's that plays, as I can recall, stuff like Savage Worlds RIFTS and the L5R beta but I haven't watched enough of it to form an opinion, but I do like seeing non-D&D games played so maybe check it out?

FFG's Star Wars RPG is basically only beaten out by D&D and Pathfinder, though again, availability on books a few weeks after release, or re-release even has caused problems.

I wonder how much being able to sell PDFs would boost things. Not that I think anybody wants to try and undo the tangle that is PDFs being caught up with electronic games in the Star Wars licensing department.

1e World of Darkness books are really... not great. 2nd Edition gets slightly better, particularly after the large org reshuffle that saw Bridges moved off of Werewolf and onto Mage. Revised is better but there are still a few stinkers that slip through from time to time because people trusted the writers not to go too far off the reservation.

I'm not exactly sure what kind of person MR*H was to work with, but I know he was bought out of the company, I heard some rumors of him driving fans away at Cons, and everything that he has done since his tenure at Werewolf does not strike me as the kind of things a person who's good at running a business would do.

I still remember how achingly pretentious his little columns or whatever at the end of 2E Apocalypse and 1E Wraith and thought to myself that this is not a man who I want to game with, despite having obviously bought many of his games. Especially Wraith where he's losing his mind narrating how his players were dead and their souls eaten and then crapped out into the underworld and they're just staring at him because of how REAL and INTENSE it was. Probably they were too polite to say 'dude what?'

Also 1e was when bridges was at the helm so the neoprimitivism and saintly exotic natives thing was in full swing.

Rage Across New York was especially awful. I remember how it said that unlike the awful white tribes, the Wendigo and Ukena only warred on one another for noble and pure reasons. It reminded me of something from, I dunno, MST3K or something - "My race is pacifist and doesn't believe in war. We only kill out of personal spite."

Even Aang wouldn't have been as confident and proactive if the first 3 books had been a procession of villains teabagging him.

This is how it was explained to me.
Studio Nue made Macross, but their publisher Big West owns the images, technical designs, and general IP.
Another company, Tatsunoko Productions, helped with the animation and some financing, and they own the international distribution rights for the original Macross show.
They licensed international distribution to Harmony Gold, who made Robotech (that's all legal and okay).
However, Tatsunoko doesn't own any of the designs or IP, and therefore could not license that to Harmony Gold.
There was a big lawsuit in Japan between those three Japanese companies back in 2003, and now the documentation about copyright is online, easily available, and translated into English.

Complicated by the big involved companies don't seem to like each other very much and none of them really care about forming like Voltr- er, GoLion to sort out international distribution rights.

You Know Who behind the D&D Und Adult Entertainment Stars went on an interesting little tirade on Twitter:

"Satine Phoenix being at WOTC means there are literally more queer women of color in mainstream D&D than in the all the Loudly Woke Indie Game RPG companies put together"

"Or even Women of Color.
Or possibly even just women."

"Some Satine Phoenix facts:
-She is responsible for the Google+ RPG community--she was the first RPG person to notice G+ had free multiperson vidchat
-She annually organized celeb D&D events for local charities for YEARS
-in 2009, She wanted to play D&D-that's why D&Dw/PS exists"

First, a moment of silence for the term 'woke.' Thoroughly and ridiculously appropriated in perhaps record time.

While I have no opinion one way or another about Phoenix it is impressive that he's is able to turn the importance of representation into a bingo game. I mean, really. :discourse: I have no idea what 'loudly woke' companies he's claiming have less representation that WotC but I will assume it's the 'ones he doesn't like' so all of them. Naturally he has to double down into sheer hyperbole.

The claim of 'responsible for the Google+ RPG community' is interesting. Did things really spread like wildfire when it was heard she was using Google+? I genuinely don't know. I mean, I know it took off but I don't know what kicked it off.
