Hello my fellow goons. I found out I have a collection of really old plant books. Like this one. I looked through one and the first section I landed to was about the author having very strong opinions on wild garlic. This compelled me to read more of it, like the material enough for me to read even more of it, then decide to share this knowledge with the rest of you. So! Let's peruse the contents, shall well? What catches your eye? (Also, pardon the mystery stains. poo poo is old.)

Here is a primer: the section on WILD GARLIC I transcribed in the bad book thread, then wisely decided to do it electronically.

I won't stand idly by and let some ancient piece of poo poo besmirch the godsend that is garlic.

Man that guy really has it out for wild garlic. Also I want to learn more about the weed named after me (horehound).

I like just the drawings personally. Also I definitely belong in "waste places" so I think this horehound plant is definitely for me.

Let's have another one, Sheep sorrel! This is the other one that compelled me to make this thread:

I imagine him angrily adding that last (Naturalized from Europe) bit in as if to imply a communist weed could never have originated on Pure American Soil. Modern textbooks should be written in this style where you can dunk on some stupid plants in the captions instead of having to be all technical about everything.

Cool! I'm actually growing a couple of those because the flowers are amazing and smell great, but maybe they bred out the foul odor of the leaves at some point because I don't notice it... Also a little surprised he didn't say 'don't eat the drat seeds.'

After sentence one of the Catnip section I had to google "emmenagogue" (which, by the way, is a substance that stimulates or increases menstrual flow) and then sentence two was like "you probably have to use a dictionary to figure out what that means " I love this dude
