I leave this thread with the thought I gave in the first Trump thread. Trump is a bad president.

Driving to work this morning, I had NPR on and heard Obama speaking at a rally. Hearing him talk with some goddamn conviction made me feel it. A feeling that I hadn’t felt in so long. Hope. And all day reading the thread, the polls... it feels different this time. Against my better judgement from yesterday, I’ve embraced the hope and what’s weirder is that I’m not the only one. Where I’d usually get into it with Communists, Socialists, Liberals and Democrats in dickwaving purity fights, it’s been replaced by this... I don’t know, cease fire for the circular firing squad. I’ve never seen the people I know IRL on the left more unified. And that feels good. No more moping. Let’s get this poo poo done.

On top of that how many of them even understand what congress does and why midterms matter? To them they have a president triggering the libs and that's all they need to feel vindicated.

deety posted:Around this time in 2016, I was at a Clinton rally. We waited in line for about 2 hours and were the last people who made it through the doors, then it took another hour and a half for things to get started. I was with a friend, her daughter, and another teenager. Those girls had just turned 18 and they were so excited by the thought that their first vote might be for the first female president. That crowd kept their energy up through the whole wait. Everyone was singing along with the music or breaking out into chants or just starting excited conversations with whoever was nearby. They had volunteers around the entire time making sure folks knew their polling places, where to call or text for any election-day issues, and they were even still taking sign-ups for last-minute canvassing shifts. State candidates came out to talk to us, Lady Gaga played a few songs, and then Hillary did her speech. Between the late start of the rally and the traffic getting out of there, I didn't make it home until almost 2 am. it's kinda minor in the grand scheme of things, but one thing that really bummed me out about the election was all of the footage of all of the older women who were voting for a woman for president who were born when women literally didn't have the vote, and how much it meant that they were voting for the first woman president and then a walking sentient representation of American misogyny got elected president

At bar trivia today enough teams had variations of "GO VOTE" as their team names that the trivia guy specifically called it out and told everyone to hit the polls tomorrow. That's from Columbia, Missouri, a liberal bastion surrounded by some of the worst chuds. But it was fun to hear. I can't vote, but I live here, so please don't do me dirty you bunch of Commonwealth traitors. e: My application for a visa was denied due to a paperwork mistake on Monday, November 7, 2016. I spent Tuesday getting it fixed. I re-applied and was accepted at 5AM on Wednesday, November 9th, 2016, and immediately flew to Missouri.
