Time to tell themselves he continues to engineer the coming "storm" from behind the scenes, at least until he gets indicted and convicted.

Welp, they just namedropped SA in the HBO Q documentary

Yeah. Talking about how Poole was a goon originally.

I knew chances were good that the namedrop was coming. I was hoping it wouldn’t but... ya know.

In episode 2 of this show they did a deep dive into the origins of the chans, etc. it was inevitable.

MrMojok

I know, right?!?

It’s a long, sordid story. It’s not like SA is to blame for 4chan or Q, and SA is discussed for about ten seconds of this thirty-minute section on the origins of this poo poo. But it still kind of pained me to see it.

The reviews that I'm reading out there seem to indicate it doesn't get better. https://www.theverge.com/22330129/hbo-qanon-documentary-q-into-the-storm-review

"huge chunks are devoted to Hoback just hanging out with the trio — covering their blow-by-blow interpersonal drama, lobbing softball questions about 8chan’s many controversies, and letting them pontificate about free speech and their favorite hobbies. The series could be hours shorter if it cut supposedly entertaining scenes like Jim Watkins making fart noises with his hands or explaining how to fill a fountain pen.

Into the Storm is seemingly trying to make QAnon’s best-known players look absurd. Taking that outcome for granted, Hoback barely bothers to rebut their statements or offer outside context, a tactic researchers have spent years discouraging. What some viewers might see as crassness or a bad argument, others could easily buy as charming foibles or a rhetorical triumph. And compared with extremism documentaries like Alt-Right: Age of Rage, Into the Storm barely acknowledges that there are forces taking QAnon seriously and trying to counter it — or at least providing support for the people it's hurt."

Oh... that sounds pretty crappy, then. I was hoping the second episode was about the last we’d see of the chan people.

Although I did wonder how this would be stretched out into six episodes. And there’s the answer.

I totally forgot this twat Ron Watkins came out claiming he’d analyzed the Dominion software and saw how it had stolen the election for Biden.

Dominion should sue Jim and Ron for another $1.4 billion

I just finished that documentary with my fiancee and she had to listen to me ranting, AGAIN, about how I'd known it was the Watkins family. Yeah, he was. He really comes across as a psychopath.

They actually do believe this stuff. And the most important point is, the only way you can believe this stuff is because you WANT to believe this stuff.

So gently caress these people. Every single one of them.

MrMojok
Jan 28, 2011

It really is. Just the smallest amount of critical thought applied to the whole thing will expose a huge amount of holes, fallacies, and impossibilities.

These people really are determined to believe it, surround themselves (at least virtually) with people that encourage that belief, and years from now many (or most) of them will still be believing it, no matter what happens in real life.

another funny story from the podcast was that they had to print out his lines on small index cards, which he'd hold in his hand. They claim if you watch the show, you can see him looking down often to read the lines.

Then there was the time when, with one particular line, they didn't give him a card, because they didn't want to insult his intelligence by putting this line on the card. Jim insisted they print a card. So they printed up a card with the line, which was a single word-- "No."

Then there was another time the guy who had been a grip on Person of Interest mentioned. Jim had several lines to say, and was doing an abnormally good job of it, abnormally good compared to his normal performance. The director called Cut, the actor Jim had been talking to in the scene turned around, and the grip saw that Jim had taped the card with his lines on the actor's forehead.

Yeah. We have a serious mental illness problem in this country, and on top of that, I believe with all my heart that the American populace, as a whole, and I mean when you look at the average from top to bottom, is more stupid today than at any time in previous American history. And more stupid than the average populace of a lot of other countries.

There's this Republican Oklahoma Senate candidate named Jackson Lahmeyer. He's been cuddling up to the Q crowd, because if you want to be big in the GOP, you pretty much have to do that, right? And you definitely have to do that in a state like Oklahoma.

Well, recently he posted a pic of his daughter, who looks like she's about five years old, wearing red shoes.

But OOPS! To the Qs, red shoes is code for pedophilia! So now the broke-brained Okie Q crowd is saying he's a satanic deep -state pedophile adrenochrome-drinking child eater

I know the answer is undoubtably “yes, we do” but it’s just so difficult for me to accept.

All this stuff, by the way, is why spy fiction doesn't really do anything for me, because the real stories are both much more interesting and intricate but also way, way funnier (in a bleakly comic way). I've already mentioned Spy Catcher as a great illustration of the world, but Gordievsky (and Kim Philby) have excellent books about them by Ben McIntyre, who seems to share my love for the sheer insanity of that world (and the even weirder - but more practical - world of WW2 spying for that matter).

Seriously, thanks for this. I do enjoy spy fiction but believe it or not, I’ve never read any books about real spy history. I was intrigued by your posts here, went to McIntyre’s amazon page, and like immediately found four books I want right now. They all sound awesome judging by the excerpts and user reviews.

Bucky, I honestly think you have a couple of good points here. Jack “Pissman” Posobiec and Steve Bannon being in on the ground floor of this would surprise no one.

I don’t agree with some of your other suppositions, but that’s my opinion. I think some of the other stuff sounds kind of insane, but again, that’s my opinion.

It’s been your style of presentation combined with your stubbornness that keeps you getting probed. I have no idea why you keep coming back here and getting banned and probed and still keep coming back to post term paper-length poo poo on this.

Why are you doing this on SA, on all places? It has gotten kind of sad, and honestly while your heart is in the right place, IMO it’s time to take a step back from all of this poo poo.

It’s not healthy. It’s time to take care of you and withdraw from all this poo poo for a while.
