It's this really. At this point Russia is a six million square mile minor power that could likely be beatin by nearly any one of its neighbors.

Unless I utterly misremember, doesn't each "Pop" represent a family of four essentially? So 10 million "pops" is a population of about 40 million citizen? I mean yeah, it really is nothing compared to OTL, but still a bit more than just a mere 10.

Yeah, but that's 40M spread out across the entirety of their blasted hellscape land, while, say, Ukraine also has 40M on their doorstep in a much more compact area. The logistics alone would make them effectively defending against any one enemy, let alone multiple, most likely futile. And that's assuming the failed state puts up any sort of unified resistance instead of shrugging as fifty different rebel groups continue to blast away at each other.

Also Uruguay ending with more population than Russia. Strongest nation in South America, no one can stop its rise! :black101:

Russia's population is densest in areas where Russians are not the majority (Azerbaijan, Chechnya, Armenia, etc.)

Other Russia facts:

Russia’s population was 15.34 million in 1836. Moscow is smaller than in 1836. The only party is reactionary who could reinstate slavery if they wished. The population is 40% fascist. Russia is losing 5,000 adult men a month

Edit: If we do full pops, the population of Moscow is approximately 320K. In 1650, the population of Moscow was 200,000.

Oh, South Africa has completely displaced the native people, Brazil has the same amount of people in slavery as there are in Moscow.

After three great wars capping a century of total conflict, the world agrees on two points: war rules; except for when it's on your soil and your precious factories and future soldiers (children) are getting blown up. So it's been agreed that all future wars will be fought in Russia. It doesn't matter if it's Chile and Argentina duking it out, the war gets fought in Russia.

I'll vote for E. Russia is nothing more that a dessicated corpse of a country at this point, let it crumble into smaller independent nations. If one of them grows strong enough to reunify Russia, then it was meant to be, but until then let Russia rest in peace.

E wins in a landslide, I don't need to prolong the inevitable.

Vote II, Fate of Yomi

By the end of 1920, Yomi was entirely a Japanese colony. Small amounts of indigenous Australians, as well as some Anglo-Irish individuals living in Brisbane were far outweighed by Japanese colonists. Distance from the Emperor, as well as a frontiersman attitude towards the continent, has resulted in Japanese control over Yomi waning. In addition, support for both extremes of the left and right are most popular in Yomi. What has become of Yomi?

A. Yomi remains in direct control by the Emperor of Japan. Although the grasp may be more tentative than years prior, the Emperor still rules Yomi directly from Edo.
B. Yomi is now an independent dominion, but her politics are mostly controlled by Japan (a puppet). The Crown Prince of Yomi is the heir to the throne of Japan, and as such, Yomi is a grooming ground for future monarchs of Japan.
C. Yomi has broken away from Japan entirely, but retains amicable relations with Japan, and is part of the Japanese commonwealth. Yomi has gained essentially full control of their own politics, and although they remain in alliance with Japan and view the Emperor as their head of state, their politics are not controlled by Japan whatsoever.
D. Yomi has suffered a communist/fascist revolution. Please specify. Distance from Japan, as well as low levels of policing have resulted in black shirts/red guards taking control of the country and wrestling it away from Japan.

C.

Yomi's just large and far enough for self-rule and it'd be useful to have a self-sufficient ally in the South Pacific.

Edit:Alright, you can't beat that argument, changing my vote to B.

I'll also vote C. As a Canadian, I have to go with the closest analogy to Canada that we're liable to see in this universe.

B is the better choice, and more likely to actually be what would happen. I would have voted for it if not for Gully Foyle pointing out it's basically Canada in the relationship.

I gotta go with B, for pretty much the same reasons as anyone else. I also like to imagine that the heirs apparent have to live much like the regular colonists do, sort of slumming it, as a way of teaching them humility for what they come back to in Tokyo or Edo or wherever Japan's capital is after the conversion.

Considering the political make up, I'd like to see a fractured parliament. Fascists fighting communists fighting liberals fighting what remains of the conservatives, an emperor under threat of losing all his powers, perhaps even on the brink of civil war.

Anarcho-Liberal countries could go a couple ways. Either have them be in basic anarchy with corporate colonies dotting the land, have the government be basically one giant corporation, or just barely functional central governments that do nothing but maintain small garrisons and do diplomacy with the outside world.

Considering they've been in charge for a while, I see the Conservatives holding power, but like Dance Officer said, its easy to see it being more fractured than anything else. Perhaps Japan is facing its on US Kaiserreich start with the possibility of a ideological civil war brewing.

Chatrapati

I thought liberal was quite likely. They're not pacifist like the socialists, so that might appeal to the pro-military crowd, but they're also not the conservatives, which might appeal to people who want a change and remember the Emperor getting rid of them the last time they were electeed.

I can also see the conservatives keeping power though. Maybe with fewer reactionaries.

Boers are in control of South Africa. British loyalists went to the UK after independence, and because of Britain's diminishing presence on the world stage, the ascending Boers (even if only locally) have a more attractive culture to assimilate into. (I know nothing about South African history).

I always thought anarcho-liberal countries were just dictatorships that aren't fascist.

Apr 22, 2014

I’d say Japan in 1936 should be Conservatives holding the tiniest sliver of power as the nation teeters on the brink of civil war between socialists and fascists. 100 years of nearly uninterrupted warfare has made the Japanese population incredibly jingoistic, and the main argument the people have is should they take the sword to foreigners, or the bosses?

I’d also say to have an event chain if the civil war isn’t avoided, then the emperor could try and also form a third faction loyal to him, or gets coopted by the fascists.

The main support for fascists should be in the southern islands which have been raided by foreign powers in the previous wars, and socialist support would be around main industrial centers. The emperor would have his support base in Kyoto and in the far north.
