We're getting there.
And just in case you're wondering, this is indeed how you're meant to solve this puzzle. The rng making you lose the mud before you can reach the bees or killing the bees before you can get back to the dragon makes this the most obnoxious puzzle in the entire game, since you just have to keep trying until the rng is lenient.
Now, let's get back to some of the other suggestions I put on hold because we were wrestling with bees/lamps at the time they were made:
The emphasis on OILY in the slime description is jumping out at me for some reason. Can you FILL LAMP with the slime somehow?

Interesting, the description of the ledges above didn't used to be there. Could be a hint they're related to this puzzle?
I say, go to the ledge outside the bricked up window and LOOK LAVA or LOOK CHASM to see if that reveals any new information.
DROP BRICKS, maybe they'll fall down into the lava. If they stay on the ledge, try PUSH BRICKS or SHOVE BRICKS.

Don't you think it might be possible you're approaching the problem in the wrong way? Consider your options and the possible uses of your items.
Also, keep in mind that you've completed 87% of the game, and you've yet to encounter a puzzle that required wildly guessing verbs or performing illogical actions that were not hinted at in any way.

Yeah. Hence my "approaching the problem in the wrong way" comment. This isn't a game that has required us to guess the verb in any particularly annoying fashion yet, so maybe the solution is to try something else...?

Mortaring the bricks together with the mud came to mind but I don't think we've done any other puzzles that required using inventory items on other inventory items and I'm not sure the parser would even support it. I'm also not sure what it would actually accomplish but "rub everything on everything else" has always been my approach to adventure games.

The game seems to want us to get closer before we can interact with the thing in the lava, but we could try catching it with the net I guess

I think I suggested "go chasm" when we first went there, and it didn't work. Trying to jump the chasm while holding the bricks makes us fall in and die.
