THERE we go!

You mean the command? Yeah, it's not one Adams ever meant for you to figure out yourself, the intended solution to the puzzle is to think about checking if the mirror has more than one hint. As a general rule, if an object or a creature in an adventure game gives out hints like these, you should always check if it has multiple hints.

Curiously enough, in the original release of the game, the one I have the source code for, the puzzle is different: Here, the mirror's hint doesn't include the "dam lava!?" part, and the "dam lava" command is not recognized - instead, you just have to drop the bricks in the lava room, something you tried a long time ago.

Not going to bore you with endless copypaste, but the idea is that when you get the bees, the "Large african bees" item stays in the room, while the bottle gets transformed into "bees in a bottle". This is how the water and swamp gas works as well, which is why you can keep going back to the lake and swamp to get more. However, when you drop the bees in a room, the "large african bees" item will be moved to this room, making it possible to transport them across the entire map by going one room at a time, dropping the bees to set a new spawn point for them, then picking them up again and moving to the next room. And of course, you need to go back and get more mud whenever it runs out. Yes, it takes forever.
