Was there this weekend to visit family and friends over memorial day weekend but I've been living in New Hampshire for 3 years and Massachusetts for 4 years before that.

Don't remember what car I had when we did that autocross together (if it was the Miata or the Mazdaspeed3) but I just traded in the Speed3 a couple weeks ago for a Golf Sportwagen after owning the Speed3 for 6.5 7 years.

Hold your nose shut, blow all the air out of your lungs, and hold it as long as you can (the superior lobe of your lungs shpuld burn a tad) Immediately afterwards, take a single breath and blow your nose quickly.

Increasing CO2 dilates the sinuses for a very short time, sometimes allowing you to blow a snot clod out.

Yeah, the issue is the sinus cavity on both sides is solid from my upper jaw bone up to near my orbital on both sides. Like, from the gum line up.

It got noticed in the navy, but wasn't immediately needed, so they never did it because of the recovery time for the surgery.

So basically I'm just hosed when it happens, and have to pray I can clear it before I look like a lovely boxer.

The Speed3 was a great car. Bought it new and had it for 7 years, put 70k miles on it and literally the only problem I ever had with it was a broken rear coil spring. I put a full set of Bilstein coilovers on it. Never even had to do front or rear brakes on the car in 70k miles. Was a great car for me.

I moved to NH because houses are cheaper in NH, there is no state income tax, no sales tax, more chill gun laws, less traffic, and closer to mountains. I'm right across the border from MA so Boston is still only like 45 mins away to go into the city for concerts and poo poo. It's great up here dude.

I got married, got a house, have a kid on the way. Working at an Audi dealership as a mechanic for the last 6 years. Making bank. Life is good.

Whats the new job you're getting bro?

It's a common AliExpress item so I bet some reviews are 1-star because it takes a month to arrive whenever the Amazon stock runs out or is a cheap knockoff of a knockoff in quality.

As an old man who is now probably allergic to fun and enjoyment, I'd recommend stashing away a few extra months' worth of "gently caress, poo poo went sideways" funds. And put away as much pre-tax money as you can into whatever retirement program they offer.

(And then buy some car stuff.)

WUT.

Looks like those are just 2-conductor. Do they only charge at USB spec (5V 500mA), or do they have the right voltage divider in the adapter to signal to the charger that it's capable of higher current?

Queen_Combat
Jan 15, 2011
There are 4-conductor versions, but they're easier to short out and a weird oval shape that you still kind of have to position.

As far as the mag ones, I have no idea. Though my Surface 3 will show "On - Charging" with it instead of just "On - Extended Battery Life" like a lot of 500mA chargers will show, so it's got to be at least an amp. If I put the S3 into "performance" mode it shows "On - Extended Battery Life," which requires 1.5 or 2A, I can't remember.

I had a ton of the charging+data ones, but they were all finicky and the magnets attracted metal dust near the small conductors. The round ones are much more robust and, at least on the ones I have, use the LED as sort of a short-circuit protection. I've shorted the connector out plenty of times dicking with it while in class and it's all good.

I got attacked by a turkey today.

Today was the annual property walk through inspection. Had a shitload to do to prep but since I'm on my third week they were really lax with some things. But the company just replaced a shitload of shrubs so I grabbed some hoses and went to water them. I was midway through a section when something moved.

I stopped watering and got closer to see what it was. I started taking pictures at this point and I stepped just a hair too close because a second turkey came storming out of the bushes, wings flapping and screeching his death-yodel warcry and I bet I have never run so goddamned fast in my life. Fucker chased me 20 yards or so before running back in the other direction.

When I got to the end of the block I saw more of them, probably plotting

I'm going to get a turkey sandwich at Subway tomorrow.

Ive spent the last two days doing refurbishment of picnic tables in the national park i work in. We've got some really, really nice white cypress pine tables that we stupidly let the public use, so they get poo poo carved into em and then the sun hosed the original poly coating, so we've had to rip em off, run em through the thicknesser and then sand em before oiling them. which means we have to oil them every year from now on, but its better than the poly coating flaking off like a burn victim.

Just do some Lichtenberg Woodburning on everything and make each table a work of cool fractal art

You can unironically want a Third Gen as long as you understand you will unironically own a third gen. Tremek, for all his constant affirmations that he does not believe in any of that cosmic coincidence mumbo jumbo, sees Third Gen ownership as somehow involving gold chains. He doesnt really get the leather jacket vibe, and the fact that I got a free T Top Camaro and four days later was literally given my Vanson leather jacket at midnight on Christmas Eve has absolutely nothing to do with anything
