My favorite board game of all time, Castles of Burgundy, is around an hour once everybody has played before so things go smoothly

Late to board game chat but I love Castles of Burgundy. Our first attempt lasted forever but that's cuz everyone was learning at the same time.

Last game night, I spent 4 hours playing Terraforming Mars and I think half that time was one guy trying to relearn the game every time his turn came around. Two people had played it before, me and the other guy were new. After my first turn, I kinda had it down and the other guy did not.

Although I think the most annoying "And the game took forever" story I have was with Dark Moon, a deception game. I'd say a normal game is about 45-60 minutes. I played it once where it took double that time because two people just kept having a side conversation so after every. single. action. They had to ask what just happened and every fuckin turn got played out twice cuz of it.

Because mixed up mother goose is pretty much the only one I can think of, but it is also the only sierra adventure game I've ever played

Is Sierra the one that made a game called Hunter Hunted? I used to play that with my brother a lot

It was a game where one person was a human dude who could pick up special weapons and his goal was to escape from a labyrinth by finding keys. The other player was a huge rear end minotaur looking thing and its goal was to murder the human dude before he escaped.

Is a clove hitch the one that's like an X shape wrapped under itself? I used to use that one hoisting conduit bundles and tool bags. That or hitches.

I tried my hand at a bowline recently and hosed it up so I told my boss (who uses to be in the Navy), "I'm just gonna let the sailor handle the knots"

Although one time an apprentice supremely hosed up a rigging knot, and I couldn't tell cuz I was operating the hoist from 6 floors up. Someone else noticed when I had pulled it up about 15 feet and screamed at me on the radio to lower it back. As I was doing so, the 800 pound reel of wire slipped off the rigging the apprentice had done and smashed into the floor. He got a huge earful and I can't imagine the disaster it would've been if it had slipped off higher in the air.

I suggested "Hey, try plugging in the PS3 using the HDMI cord, it'll look a lot nicer". Couldn't be arsed to do it, and could not care less.

It boggled my mind that someone wouldn't want an upgrade in visual quality for little to no effort. But they sincerely couldn't care less and were perfectly fine playing grainy rear end looking Doom on their big TV.

I think it's just that it's been years since we played Dragons Crown so she doesn't remember how the original release looked.

This sorta happened to me where my dad was the cosignor and I was just paying them off at a snails pace. Then my dad died and my mom got a letter about a student loan that nobody recognized. So she called Navient to say "hey what's up with this, my husband died recently and nobody knows what this loan is for"

Immediately they called me and said "Well one of the fine print terms is that if the cosignor dies, the primary lendee must pay the full amount immediately" and all I could respond with was

Reminds me a bit of the gal who did some bug queen from Warcraft at Blizz con a year or two ago, and it had mechanical limbs and lights and functional wings. But she had to wear some kinda weird footwear while in it, and during her walk out in the contest, she actually rolled and broke her ankle and fell, which also broke a portion of the costume. She still did the stage walk with the rest of the costume, on a broken ankle, and won the contest, I believe
