TIE Avenger is old canon actually. The TIE Advanced was better than anything else the Empire could make, but it was too expensive to put into mass production. The TIE Avenger is the mass-production version of the Advanced. AFAIK the development went: TIE Fighter-> TIE Interceptor->Tie Advanced->TIE Avenger->TIE Defender.

Yeah, if we're going down the road of pretend ship development then Tekopo is right.

It went TIE Fighter>TIE Advanced Prototype>TIE Advanced x1>TIE Interceptor>TIE Defender

Avenger and Aggressor fit in wherever the gently caress because Legends.

I love that the bullseye arc is a core mechanic in 2.0. When the Kimogila came out I thought it was such a rad and simple concept but a shame that it couldn't be retroactively integrated into older ships.

And now all of this happened before Ep. IV because Rebels

It's given us a lot of cool ships, but it's also played merry hell with the timeline of things from the movies.

Ha yeah. I never even thought of that. It used to be that the Empire took the time between ESB and RotJ to even develop the Interceptor and deploy it sometime prior to Endor.

Then X-Wing PC and TIE Fighter PC came out and kind of screwed that continuity up while adding a bunch of ships. Then more EU piled on to it and we ended up with some real doofy TIE varients that were canon.

So I guess it's not terribad that Disney came along and sorted all that poo poo but made most of that TIE design progression happen before Yaven.

At least the rebellion not having the newer ships at Yavin IV that rebels has shown makes some sort of sense, rebel cells each have their own equipment and all that. But the empire not havin the best designs on the death star is a harder sell.

Kiiinda.

Defender program was stopped after it was sabotaged and Thrawn went MIA.

The Interceptor was only flown by the top Aces until they threw all of them at Endor.

The Death Star didn't need the best fighter escort because it was a laser moon and Vader was on it with his kick rear end Adv x1 and a couple of Black Squadron.

Is it poetry that someone does this to his capital ship, which itself crashes into the surface of DS2?

Wonder how long it's going to be before we get any rules for First Order or Resistance.

Because unless some place holder ones show up close to or around the 2.0 launch there gonna be alot of Poe's sitting on a shelves for a while next to Rey Falcons, Batwings and a bunch of TIEFO's, special forces or otherwise.

I kind of hope the actual physical model fits into the Falcon now.

But I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't.

quote:

It's not clear if this version also has a ventral gun turret, but old expanded universe designs for the stock YT-1300 light freighter depict it with a sole dorsal quad laser cannon, with the Falcon's ventral turret being one of Han's many upgrades.

Saw the movie and ya, Landos Falcon does not have a ventral gun turret. It only has the one top mounted single barrel cannon turret.
